Have you ever noticed how annoying the touch sound is on the 4.1.2 TouchWiz ROMs? Have you ever wondered "why can't I have the nice touch sound from the Galaxy S4/ Note 3"? Well, no more of that wonder. With the grace of root, you can do anything you want to your device. You can make it look/sound any way you want it.

I just looked it up and touchwiz doesn't even have a 3d mode and it can't even change your home screen transitions neither does it have a full screen music and gallery widget

Its all very well for you to do as you understand all this stuff I'm 61 so most of what you said is completely Greek to me and my Samsung S4. All I want to do is change that water droplet sound to a beep as I have heard phones from other people. They hit answer or cancel a call and its just a beep but I have that water droplet sound.

LOL. I'm sorry. I don't know how to make it easier, Sir. try watching the video a couple more times and follow the steps to remove that droplet sound or replace it with another that you like. just make sure you rename the new file to the same exact name of the one you wanna remove then set the permissions then reboot. on a side note, if your phone isn't rooted (jailbroken) then don't bother. this method won't work without root. :)

+mopsy1901 There is zero chance of messing up your phone if you follow instructions and find the methods that are actually made for your phone and carrier. I've never bricked a phone and I've been rooting since 2012. check out XDA developers website and look for your device (by the carrier) and you'll find all you need

can't you actually make the TW_Touch.ogg file (which ones are actually responsible for the touch sounds?) useless, choose a mp3-file and rename it to TW-Touch.ogg and just put it into the folder back again? would it work?

MsArashy I just modifed my "water drop" noise on my Galaxy Tab 3 to the much less annoying water drop noise from the Galaxy Tab 4 series. the TW_Touch.ogg and S_HW_Touch.ogg files are responsible for the touch sounds. One is for the back button and options/recent tab button while the other is for the actual screen like selecting an app and touching things. You need to make sure you change the permissions to r/w r r otherwise it will not work.

I followed your steps, but half way thru, I did not get the same page as you or anything similar to it, so it was practically useless for me.so those steps were not explained properly, and I did not get no where near as much files that you did in that skynote, what ever skynote is.. I like that water drop sound that you hate and am trying to add it onto another fone. Im trying to add it to a sony experia3 as an experiment, but if I can do this to the LG 3 I will buy the LG in sted of the Samsung 5. so if u can explain how I can do this thanks..

It wouldnt work because you would need to change the permissions for EVERY sound file in that UI folder you brought like i show in the video

Hi..I've note 3 and the change doesn't apply to my sounds. What I've done is taking the mp3 notification sounds from zedge. Then copy to ui and rename to ogg but no effect takes place. I've 4.3 jb and is rooted too. Any adiea? I've changed the permission setting too. It changed to some sounds like turn on power.. battery low.. lock /unlock ..but now lock /unlock not working and no sound.

Mp3 is different from ogg and doesn't work as a system sound. It can only be a ring tone or a notification sound. System sounds only use ogg files types. :) Just because you changed the file's extention name from Mp3 to ogg doesn't mean it became ogg :) You have to either find the ogg files or use an ogg converter app (I believe there are a bunch of them in the play store). Also, if you want some system sounds that are ogg, just scroll through the comments of this video and you'll find a link I've provided for other users that has some of them.

@Bartek B ogg is the file extension that is playable by Android as a touch tone. When adding ".bak" after any ogg, it makes the file useless and unreadable by Android. If you want a file to work, you should remove that "bak" from the end and set permissions then reboot. And I have no idea why I can't reply to your comment directly. It doesn't have a "reply" option. LOL

Hi you seam clever in this sort of stuff. I bought 1 of these. www.ebay.com.au/itm/Android-4-4-OS-2-Din-7-Car-Radio-GPS-Navigation-BT-EONON-Touch-USB-iPod-SWC-/281823929758 It was slow and a lot of things did not work. so they gave me a new file upgrade. Then instead of a nice beep every time you click the keyboard, it now gives a thud. Seriously I have tried everything... It is now rooted and a lot better... Tried all the things in all this stuff and the recommendations. But it is still there. I can turn in off, but I liked the little beep in the previous version. Any suggestions on which file it is and where, or how I can get a nice tactile beep back ?

+mlmsecuritysystems I've never owned one of these, but since it is running android then I think it should be close or similar to the process in this video, other than that I'd have to get my hands on one to be able to find out. I'll be posting a video soon on how to get the sound files(.ogg) soon. Just working a lot now a days.

I got rooted Note 3 and i did as you showed with TW_Touch.ogg file and it works as intended. I got a problem with the other file. Instead of S_TW_Touch.ogg i got S_TW_Touch.oggbak file in system/media/ui folder. Should i replace it with any ogg file or rename it to oggbak extension? What is *.oggbak anyway?

it says "Operation failed" when I try to paste my own ogg file to the ui folder. I wonder if my phone has restricted the editing in those system folders as I cant change the permission of the files (An error message box pop up saying "Changing permission was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes.") I'm using a Redmi and I feel that I won't be able to change it.. Anyway thanks for your video:)

oh thanks.. I have just installed Framaroot but another error comes comes when I try to use it to install SuperSU. I can't use any availabe exploits and the error #9 message pop up. It says "failed... try another exploit if available" But I have already tried the three exploits provided....

Yeah, same exact thing. All you need to do is grab the ogg sound files of your choice (the old touch sound in your case) and follow the same procedure :)

You have to be rooted and have xposed framework installed (download it from here repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer). From xposed, go to "download" and look for "xbattery themer". Download that and install it. From xposed, go to "modules" and check the box in front of "xbattery themer" and reboot. You should be able to use the module now. From the module "xbattery themer" you can look up themes. It's located on the top of your screen. Click it and you can download all kinds of battery themes :-)

My Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100) is (Rooted) and I do the steps and there is still no sound when I boot up the device. And I never had a PowerOn.ogg file in the first place

I don't have problems when doing it on Android 5.1.1 problem is when I try to do it under Marshmallow after rooting the phone gave me an error "Your Device is Corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly"

+Ricardo Medina I have used this toolkit to upgrade my Nexus 6 from LP to Marshmallow with no problem, but I see where you're coming from, you're already on a non rooted MM, I was on a rooted LP then just had to upgrade my bootloader and recovery, so, there is a difference there. try updating the toolkit and make sure all of the drivers are installed and your wires and port are good. if not, then just throw a question in the toolkit thread on xda and I'm sure you'll get help from other members or maybe even the developer himself

+John Cena Yeah, I know. that's were you get the sounds from. you have to pull them out of the ROM. there are no files by themselves. I've been very very busy with work and family. I'll be making a video showing how to pull those files.

Aeron John Yuson pretty much same as the method above. I just found a metal gear sound pack and converted the ones I wanted to .ogg then in the same area you find the touch sounds look for "lock" and "unlock" and replace with your own files with the method used in this video
