Did all you said but when I choose the device and click settings nothing in there says anything about wifi

After I select my wifi network alex smart plug fails to connect to it. Over and over, no matter what I do. No error messages. It says to "restart the phone", "use a different phone", or retry. None of the options work. It sees my wifi network yet it cannot connect to it.

my alexa smart phone app has no such wifi choice when you hit the setup gear for a device. you have an about section whose first entry is wifi network. my first entry is connected via wemo and on the bottom you have another section header called general - i do not have that showing. something is very different in your alexa software so I saw comment that data is not lost if you uninstall and reinstall the alexa app. i did so and everything seemed gone in the app but reappeared later. but my screens are still different from your screens. we are in parallel but different universes.

my smart plug shows but when I hit the gear it says connected via smart home how do I update to a new network ?

I see the comments below about people not having the same screens showing on their phones as your video, then I saw your question about do they have an iPhone or Android. I see in your video you have an iPhone. So if we have Android phones this procedure will not work?
