My endocrinologist did not explain the Dexcom G6 nor did her assistant. They had me freaking out causing a panic attack my anxiety was through the roof. Now I can reconsider putting this on me thanks to your video.
I went to a PCP for an endocrinologist and the first thing she told me without doing a discovery was I could calculate and watch when I eat pizza. She did not check exercise habits, food intake, mental state, personal food struggles, or what foods I feel like I can live or live without. Also, right away she told me that I could split my Lantus in 2 doses. That stupid visit cost me with insurance $180. And the only reason I needed it was to get a prescription for insulin. Why are they not versed in Holistic nutrition or anything dietary? Who needs a doctor like that. What has happened to the American health system? In Mexico, that visit would have cost $50 with no insurance. Also, I can buy insulin over the counter without a prescription at a third of the cost. Food and exercise are the 2 most important things for diabetics to master. Water intake included.
This was the best explanation I’ve seen on getting started with the Dexcom. I had no prior experience and no training. Perfect amount of detail. Thanks!!
Awesome! Wish I had found your video 3 months ago. My diabetes education didn't show me anything. I threw away the transmitter because I didn't know it should last 3 moths. The insurance company was so generous they wouldn't give me a replacement. I offered to pay out of pocket, and they still wouldn't do it. Thanks for an awesome video and showing how to do it and why.
Great lesson, and unlike others you don't cut away right when you come to the essential thing requiring a clear picture of the process. Keep up the great work.
Your videos have made it where I could actually change my sensor, not to mention put it on the first time! I cannot tell you how grateful I am! My story is long, but the short of it is my sugars have been very high (sometimes over 600) partially because I was having trouble remembering to take my insulin! Goes with having such high sugars. I never knew that high sugars could effect your memory! So they have decided to put me on an insulin pump, but wanted to get me used to using the Dexcom G6 first. Your videos are so well done. Your short, concise, and to the point and that combined with actually being able to watch and see what your doing, well it makes it about impossible to screw it up! Thank you SO much! Using the Dexcom reminds me to take my insulin and my sugars have come back down within normal range for the most part. But we're still going to use the pump. I have 45 prescriptions and it's a little overwhelming to manage it all, so we're trying to simplify things as much as possible! You my dear are a gem to this 61 year old newby!
Thank you for the kind note. I'm so glad the videos are helpful and that they made using your Dexcom easier. Hopefully, a pump and CGM combination will be what you need to simplify things further
Thank you so much for the demonstration; I was just diagnosed with diabetes. Received my D6 device still learning the how to’s .But because of your video walkthrough (explanation, and application) made it so much easier for me to put it on myself. No anxiety 😊 Thank you once again
Thank you so much! just changed my sensor for the 1st time while watching your video! diagnosed with T1D this past January at 62 and it's been a terrifying and thoroughly exhaustive journey. I've been using the FS Libre but now my insurance insisted on the Dexcom. I had been used to pinching the fatty tissue when applying the FS so I had done the same thing when inserting the Dexcom and it was very painful so was kind of terrified to have to change it, but watching your video helped. I didn't pinch and the sensor was applied painlessly! Thank you so much!
I am using libre 2 system , i recently had a incident with my condition, i was found unconscious on the kitchen floor. Vital signs not compatible with life b/p.pulse basically compressions were started: intubated and on ventilator. Body temp only registered 87. GCS 3 no response to pain.touch, movement. My son was called in california and told that they didnt believe That I would make it through then told my son my vital size for not compatible with life and my blood sugar was 23 when I was found That I would make it through then told my son my vital size for not compatible with life and my blood sugar was 23 when I was found I woke up at about 3:35 and text my son right away to tell him that I was very happy about that but now I need to find out adorable medical equipment company in my area that will send me The unit with the sensor and the reader Using my insurance Using my insurance Thank you if you can give me any information I would appreciate it
@@janpharr3170 Wow! You've really been through the ringer! I'm hoping you're doing okay now! I used the Libre as well and it was HORRIBLE! when I compared the number it gave me to what I got on the finger sticks, it was like, HOW IN THE WORLD was I supposed to figure out how much insulin to give myself! My fingerstick might say 132, but my Libre might tell me 239, or something stupid like that. I just felt like there was NO WAY I could safely use the Libre on its own! I took it to the doctor I see and told her to either give it to someone else that couldn't afford one or to use it to train other patients how to use it. She of course was aware of the problems I was having using it. So yours may have well told you to give yourself way to much insulin just like mine did. Had I not been checking against the finger sticks, I don't even want to think what would have happened had I just followed the Libre! I live completely alone! I go DAYS without seeing other people sometimes. I'd have been long since dead by the time some one would have found me! So glad your doing okay!
Straight to the point and incredibly helpful- thank you!! I just put my first one on not too long ago, and I change mine friday. I had yet to look into changing it lol!
First of all, I want to say thank you so very much for taking the time out of your busy day to show us how to use this how to clean it what to listen or what to look for what not to touch I haven’t received mine yet because they didn’t have it at the pharmacy so they ordered it so I’m waiting. I’m new to this and I’m scared to death Thought I was doing everything right to where I would never have to do anything like this but life has a way of taking a turn so again I just wanna say thank you so very much may God bless you and your health get better🙏🏾
Just started on Dexcom July 1st so I'm on my 3rd sensor and your videos have helped me so much. I was a bit nervous at first but I have been able to manage my type 2 so much better. Thanks so much for what you do!
as a first time dexcom user and my first time switching out my g6 after 10 day, this video was so imformative and helpful. i had no issues. the only thing i had to do was find where about stopping my sensor then entering the code. now on my 2 hour warm up!
Diabetic since 1997, insulin since 2005, scared to death of new technology, but you made me feel less anxious and I thank you for this. Now I have to learn the Omni pod 5 too😮
I was so worried because I did not understand but now that I watch your video I really thank you for doing this because it helps me more and I’m learning and this is like going to be my first time changing my Dexcom sensor and I thank you very much you have a good day
Oh my goodness I just received my G6 I'm Supposed get it put on tomorrow. today just received my insulin as well it's all so overwhelming. Your video was a huge help thank you so much 🙏🏾
Thank you for this! Just to add the large size of the sensor works for me because my hands lack fine motor control because of arthritis. I like that the applicator is easy to access too. I had to use two tools to get at the freestyle libra 2 applicators.
I like that adhesive remover 🤩 I usually use coconut oil but I think I need to use this adhesive remover instead I wish I knew about it after having my babies lol the adhesive from the IVs will always leave a mark
Thank you very much for the tutorial on removing the sensor and the transmitter. I recently got a Dexcom and though I was shown how to put on the sensor I wasn't sure how to remove it.
My son is getting dexcom, so I wanted to see how it compared to my freestyles. I like that freestyle lasts 14 days and is much much smaller. He’s a tiny child, I’m sort of concerned about how big that will be on him. But I appreciate the video, it helped me see what to expect.
Glad it gave some more clarity. If you want to see a direct Libre 3 vs Dexcom G6 comparison you can find that here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B3zabNOqNjE.html
I am assuming when I first start it will be the same way? I am switching from the Free style to Dexcom G6, I still watching a few videos to avoid mistakes. Thanks this was a very easy understandable video.
thanks for this video, I've just changed over from Libre 2, this will be my first change solo so I was nervous but you've helped me get over that, phew. Much love to you
Just received my box today will be setting it on the weekend thank you for ur video it was very helpful will watch it again I’m sure at least 2 more times lol
Fantastic! My adult son also has a Dexcom but I have not applied it. Helping a friend apply hers and this was a great tutorial. Def more content from you. God bless !Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
That's a good video I'm switching from the g7 . My insurance covers the g6 sensor and receiver. G7 can get expensive and doesn't alway work with android hope the g6 is better
@@MrRicco39 if you take your Dexcom G7 prescription to a participating pharmacy (CVS is not one, but for example Publix is) and if your insurance will cover G6, they will sell it to you a month supply for $99. You might have to call Dexcom to find a participating pharmacy near you
