My daughter and I just replaced our whole house filter for the four or fifth time. Unfortunately, this time it leaked! After watching three other videos to troubleshoot, I finally landed on yours. Thank you for reminding me to check the O ring…I found it outside in the area where I emptied the filter housing!
Excellent tutorial...I had to replace my cartridge and noticed water was still leaking. When I did a second check I discovered the culprit...the O ring was not properly fitted. Your down to earth explanations helped a lot. THANK YOU.
So my canister was put back on to tight or this old woman 66 just doesn't have enough muscle left. Needed help last time too. Grrr hate asking for help. You sure made it look easy.
Thank you!! Just a note. I was taught that if the valve is parallel it's on and if it's perpendicular it's off. That's not the case with the one I had. There's a high side to the valve and a low side. The low side presses a red button to allow water flow. I couldn't figure out why water was not flowing after installing it since it was in parallel, but it was actually on the high side, not pressing the red button. A full twist of the valve and it triggered the button.
How often do the filters need to be changed? We just bought a house with well water, and your video has been super helpful! I am confident that I can change the filter tomorrow!
Is there a way water can sifter out water from the canister, like maybe with sink drain open water to the filter shut off ? Or any way to get water out of canister BeFore housing is remove ! It’s a water mess when I do it ! Sincer Carl
Thank you for taking the time to explain this so well. Would you happen to know the specifications of the wrench needed to open the casing? I have the exact same filter but the plumbing company that installed it never left a wrench with it.
NOT good to wrench tight. I found that out the hard way. Broke plastic wrenches and had to remove the whole setup to a vise. instructions to only hand tighten. Best advice read your filter instructions.
When you put a filter back on its only recommend to put it on with only your hand-tight or you will flatten the rubber gasket and have to replace it sooner 🤨✅
