Heart is the seat of desire. We must desire pure devotional service. Cry out to save us, empower us, purify us. Unless through the day you are living in that way in the service attitude. You know the only way . I have heard it the only way is krishna’s mercy is manifesting in his name when I humbly chant. I need to cry out for the mercy . Without the mercy of him name I am lost. Pray for mercy like beggars. We are in poverty condition in humble state of mind like a beggar
This mundane, meaningless background music is an appalling distraction to the transcendental message of Radhanath Swami.....this is a serious issue Maharaj is talking about....how on earth is such worldly music going to enhance Maharaj's message....? Here's a rough attempt at Transcription( I humbly apologise for any mistake🙏): We're just chanting our rounds in a mechanical way and how to reach to a stage where we can chant from our heart. Usually we chant by the lips. So what's the meaning of chanting from heart? Heart is the seat of our desires. We should desire pure devotional service. We should desire to please Krishna. We should desire prema bhakti. We should desire to please gurus, vaishnavas and Krishna. We should chant with that desire. That is desire with which we're chanting through which we chant from our heart viz. the seat of our spiritual desires. What do you want? Do you want pure devotional service or do you want just to get your rounds started? If you want to just get your rounds started then just keep chanting and pulling your beads and you'll get your rounds started which is good. There'll be some of those mantras that will go deep within your heart. But they'll be not so many . But chanting from the heart is because I really want to purify my heart. I see so much lust, envy, anger, pride and greed and illusion . I don't want it. I want to wipe it away. I want to wipe all these attractions and aversions and attachments with these bodies. I'm sick of them! I'm disgusted with them! They drag me birth after birth after birth after birth away from Krishna . They're doing it again. Even though I see so much, still these material attachments are pulling me away from Krishna, contaminating my mind. I don't want it anymore! Krishna! Please save me! I want to be your pure devotee. I want to be an instrument of your command... ...And in this spirit, we really cry out the holy name... to cleanse us, to save us from Maya, to empower us, to become purer. Do you want the love of God or do you simply want to get your rounds started and go onto the next thing? If you want the love of God, then focus on that. Focus on all the impediments diverting your attention and only the holy name can ultimately save us. But you can't just sit down and do that, unless through the day, you're really trying to cultivate the attitude of being the servant of the servant of the servant. If you're offending Vaishnavas, if you're talking about all sorts of non sense and other things, then you're not going to be capable of that when you really do that when you sit down to chant. But if you're trying to live your life in that spirit of achieving that love whenever you sit down to chant and you see all the impediments, you see all the desires, you are all the conditionings that are so deeply seeded in your mind... You want to get rid of them and you know the only way... There's no other way! I've tried everything for years and it just doesn't work. I know. I'm convinced. I've heard it in the books, I've heard it in the classes. I've personally experienced it. The only way is Krishna's mercy viz. manifesting in his name and that mercy is accessible by how humbly and sincerely I chant. That should be our meditation when we're doing our rounds. I need to cry out for the mercy of the holy name. I don't need to just get my rounds done. I need that too. I need to get my rounds done but in this mood. Without the mercy of the holy name, I'm lost! हरेर्नाम हरेर्नाम हरेर्नामैव केवलम् ! In this spirit, we should pray for the mercy as we're chanting the holy name, like beggars! If a beggar, say in Barsana, comes to you with a beautiful silk saree, a diamond necklace, just coming out of her Rolls Royce, whatever and says, "Please give me Baksheesh." There are no feelings in her heart. If an lady really has nothing and comes up to you. She is hungry. She is diseased .She is in rags and she says, "Baksheesh, Baksheesh." She means it. We've to understand our poverty condition. We've been given so much but still... so much disease, so much hunger. That's a humble state of mind.
