Very useful. I have just purchased my 1st dump trailer and a mini excavator. I haven't taken possession yet, but this helps me understand how to figure out the billing. Thank you! Subscribed.
Just bought my 1st dump trailer out right last week. Thanks for all the videos Robert, been watching you for a while & finally took the initiative. Really interested in booking a session...
Ruffian, How did you do on the dump Trailer business.? Seen its been a year now.. I just bought a like new 14` Gooseneck dump. Let me know if it worked out for you.
I love this video Robert, I had already seen it, but came back to it because I am about to call a local roofer and offer my services to him. He has a dump trailer, but you never know when he will need 2 at different locations 👍🏻.
@@hustlenation4779 my dump trailer is a 7 by 14 I had to put commercial insurance on it have you made any videos about the cost of the insurance and DOT regulations?
Yeah I had a roofer put 2 houses worth of shingles in my 20 yard trailer. 14,000 lbs including the container and my warn winch was rated for 15,000. It almost didn't pick it up. Ill never let that happen again
New here. Only just found you sir. One thing I have observed. Do you just dump everything? With scrap metal prices on the up and lumber prices going crazy. Would it be worth picking the load real quick at the landfill? You could be passing money by there
You make a really good point. For the most part the labor it takes to sort through the load does not justify the amount of money that you would receive by doing that.
Forgot to ask a question about flat tires. I imagine that hauling trailers around construction and/or roofing job sites you can easily pick up a nail or lose a tire or two. How do you account for these expenses?
Get an extra tire and on your free time switch them and take them to a local tire shop. Tell them to plug them from the inside out. They have very good plugs if you plug them depending on the weight and the air pressure they'll come out. Atleast mine did. So I had no choice but to take them to a shop. Plus the trailer with atleast 5-6 tons weights 8-9 tons that's allot of pressure for simple plugs.
You’ve become my new favorite RU-vidr. I’m all about side hustles! I came across your channel a few weeks ago searching for dumper trailer content because I’m looking to get in on the hustle. I’ve got a 1/2 truck with about 7,500lb tow capacity so I’m looking at a 5x10 or 6x10 trailer. My question is, will I be able to get things done with that combination?
Get as much trailer as you can handle. I bought a 5x10 utility trailer with 2 foot walls just to tow a mower. Now I'm trimming trees and really wished I had a 6x12 or even 14 to be able to reduce the number of trips to the dump. My jobs have been only 10-15 miles from the dump, but its still a solid hour driving to the dump, unloading, and getting back to the job site.
This niche looks interesting and I haven't seen many dump trailers around here, but was wondering.... Do you run ads and place signs so people know you, or maybe you have other ways of marketing yourself...? Thank you.
Very rarely do I do that. I have about five other endeavors that I engage in on a daily basis. It is rather difficult if I was having to do all four trailers every day.
How do you deal with people who don’t pay after you’ve picked up and dumped ? Is there any type of contract involved? Never been in business for myself so I’d like to think most people would pay what you verbally agree upon.
60k is a budget truck?!😂😂 Let's get real. Sure maybe compared to other vehicles in its class but these manufacturers need to get real. They need to go back to making affordable vehicles. People that are buying vehicles at these prices are leveraging their potential lifetime wealth accumulation. It's absolutely foolish.
I like the customer know upfront what it’s going to cost and I get paid in advance… Some of the times I will get paid for a drop in the trailer and then get paid for the dump fee afterwards however that’s only with customers that I have an established relationship with
Thanks Robert! I have a question. I know every state has their own rules but as far as DOT goes, did you have to register with the DOT in your state? Especially when you haul construction? I heard the rule is you can’t weigh or be capable of weighing more than 10,000 lbs. but i don’t know if that 10,000 is for the trailer only or truck and trailer. Thanks for any I put Ake clarification you can give on this
your too cheep! increase your prices. The truck and trailer and insurance value? were and tear? Transmission? think about it. Thanks for doing these ...
