What does a constant red light mean? I bought a battery from eBay connector seem to hook up but the light stays a constant red as if there was no battery in it.thanks

Yeah that helped considerably thank you I thought because it was flashing green it was fully charged but now I know why it only made two cuts it needs charging!

I can't thank you enough for this video. I got a brand new 2-pack of 4ah batteries and a charger. spent 12 hours trying to get them to charge without success, then returned the set and ordered another whole set, only to have them do the same thing. The red light would just blink. I start searching the web for answers and ran across your video. I'm watching and hear you say "push it down until it clicks".. and I go "WTF?!". I walk over, push the battery down. It clicks and all is right in the world! I've never run into that before, and have never been more happy to admit I'm an idiot. I am building a junkyard bag with several tools from this series and it all depended on having useable batteries. Thanks again 😁

Make sure to install the battery on the charger with the longer portion facing OUT over the light indicator. I installed mine in the opposite direction (yes, that is possible, unfortunately). The light will be a steady red if you do this. So I had to UNPLUG FIRST, then pry it off!! 😊

Hi,We just had a basement flowback and i think both charger and the battery got wet. Ive been using the battery for quite a time now but it seems to be working just fine. The only thing is when its time to get charged i found the charger still have a water inside the plug in part. I tried to charge it but it shows the broken battery indicator. What would be the problem here? is it the charger or the battery?

I purchased my first Ryobi tool. I left it on the wall mount to charge and at first I noticed there was a green light charging quickly, but now it’s still flashing green - but in a steady slower motion pattern. Does that mean it’s fully charged ?

I need to know on the other part of the battery it has four green lights and one is solid green and one is flashing, does this mean all four green lights need to be solid green before use, it is a new battery . Just bought it and the directs I can’t make heads or tails out of them

Hello, I have a question. I have a ryobi model P118B charger. Is it used to charge the P197 model battery? With the P190 battery model if it works with the P118B charger.

First and foremost thank you for the video. I have that same charger and when I put the battery in it blinks red/green. I put in 3 batteries and all blink the same. I have another charger and when I put the batteries in, it reads a solid green. needless to say, the charger is defective. Is there a way to repair the charger or not? I can't find anything on RU-vid, thank you.

My charger also has a Green Light Energy Save Mode that starts, I believe after it’s fully charged. I don’t know what this means. It’s either like a maintenance charger where you can keep the battery on the charger or something else. I don’t know what the something else would be.

I know this video is a year old but I had the same two blinking lights happen to me.. I bought the battery 3 days ago... It had two bars left so I used it in one of my tools until it was dead. Put it in the charger and it works fine now. There must be some sort of circuitry and it might have had to be energized/reset. Something to think about :).

Battery could either be too hot or too cold so it slowly gets to temp until it begins to charge 🤙🏼 I think I just got my impact driver and read that in the owners manual

My battery charger is still flashing red. I have researched and done the ways to fix it but it is still not working. The battery nor charger issues are not temperature related, meaning I have been unable to make is work in both warm and cold temperatures. Any additional suggestions would be very helpful

Not long at all depending on the size of your battery. Small batteries can charge in as little as 1 hour.

hmmm, you might need to do a little more research, but I believe that's an indicator that your battery is no longer working properly. It may not be able to sustain a charge.

I believe what happens is that once it's fully charged, it goes into a trickle charge mode meaning that the charger will continue to keep the battery at full capacity. I'm not sure if there are long-term harmful effects for the battery to remain in the cradle though. You may need to do a little more research. Normally we do not store them active in the charger.

Yes, I believe that is correct. Usually a steady red light means that the battery is no longer able to recharge. Maybe time to get another. I believe Home Depot is doing their Ryobi days, meaning if you buy a battery pack you get a free tool.

@@ScottsGarage So I called Ryobi's battery 800 number (yes they have one just for batteries lol). I told her my battery wasn't charging (getting flashing green & red lights). She asked me had I bought it in the last 3 years (yes). Then asked me serial number (gave), she said they would send me out a free battery right away. Didn't ask for a receipt or anything. They clearly are having issues with batteries made in a certain lot I guess? She said within 10 days it will be delivered!

A solid red light usually means that your battery is no longer good. Do some further research, but it may be time to get a new battery.

Living in Colorado, we Definitely run into issues with the cold interfering with our battery performance. Usually what I do is bring our chargers and batteries inside during the cold months and keep them in the closet. That way we can prevent degradation and the battery life.

So sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, it may be that your battery has died. If you have access to another charger or a friends charger, try the battery there. That would at least rule out the possibility.

❤😮❤ mine has a solid green light? Which I assume means bad battery because I tested voltage and volt meter say zero. Question is the battery shaft has three simular metal contact points (one has +) and (one has -) and the last is unmarked. However on a newer battery i tested volts to compare - to + volts waa 19v then unmarked to + was 19v. So why does my battery have solid green light but no voltage?😢😢😢

I believe that means your battery is no longer able to hold a charge. Definitely do some for the research, but it may be time to get another one.

These chargers are junk got with 3ah + hp 2 pack was using this to charge batteries then one day after this fully charged my batteries I placed them into my p118 charger which charged them more for about 10 more minutes have 4 of these chargers all do the same but haven't checked final voltage just stopped using them
