I just learned that phase controller can be a culprit on error 43 , thanks, I've been fixing gpu recently and i just stopped, surrendered on repairing due to lack of tools like thermal cam, reballing machine, etc.
Just about everything that's not working properly can be the culprit for error 43. Usually, to determine if a controller is working properly or not, one needs an oscilloscope. A controller can actually work... of a sort but many times it can not provide the correct output towards whatever it is controlling so you get a core voltage but it is not the right one so the card will work but actually not work. You can repair probably 75% of the broken cards without a thermal cam. Anyway there is a pen that puts a tiny layer of soldering rosin on an area of a board and you can see where it's heating. It costs almost nothing.
@@Dandan-tg6tjright, you Can also use the freeze Can or air blowing Can in upside down position. It will create a thin layer of ice and After poking the card, the thin layer melts on the faulty component
Damn, @northwestrepair... your videos have gone leaps and bounds from just a year ago. Your production value and quality improvements are damn impressive. Excited for what's new!
Wow you really got deep in the whole matter already! Nice job, you earn my respect! I am also going deeper and deeper in trying to repair graphic cards and now I'm going to do my first steps in reballing GPUs. Althought soldering is nothing new to me, I have to say soldering such kind of things is a complete other world! I have killed my first try, pins and lines while desoldering with an underpowered iron... But now to the point: Beside the fact that one need the right tools and know-how I am stuck at the point of where can I get spare parts? Did you take your spare-chips from another card? best regards and keep going man this is aweseome :)
Great content and detailed information. I have a 1080 ti with a possible bad memory chip, where do you buy the memory chips? And what's the process of getting a gpu repaired by you?
Hi, i am new here and i love your videos. I really value people like you who like to dive deep. Please keep up the good work. Can you make a tutorial on mats? Or any link of your video if already done, thanks.
Awesome vid! Question: what temperature are you heating the memory chip with when reballing, and when you mount the newly reballed chip to the board do you keep the same temperature on the hot air? Thanks for the info you provide!
to over come over heating the chip i put a pre heater underneath the chip( controlled type )this will give best results and fast ensuring not to damage chip from over heating
Great! I am wondering why you're not using an oven with an IR heat source, regulated temperature for those balls to melt? Would it not be more reproducable results, only time and temperature must be experimented once?
Hi, first good videos, but two points. Dataline in midle is diferent too on good chip. 😬 Second, soldering on iron is no good idea, better is on wood, best on wiremesh. Simple minimalize contact with cold surface.
Been watching you a lot lately. Seems like everyone uses solder balls for reballing these GPU chips and ram. I'm from the mobile world and we always reball with stencils and paste. How do you decide which size balls to use?
hi, excellent video, thanks to you I identified the faulty ram module of my rx580, it gave artifacts on the video, I removed it perfectly, I'm waiting for the new module to arrive, question, what if I start the video card without the ram module? Something happens? Thank you
For me, the most important question would be: How to get Mods/Mats up and running? If I come across a dead graphics card, I would be willing to do the BGA rework and everything around it. However, I cannot spent hours or even days, trying to get some semi-official software compiled in a Linux-Environment (which I don't have) and deal with one roadblock after the other trying to get it to "just work". Is there any hint you can give me where and how to get a version of that software, that can be made operational with about the same amount of work that it takes to get a windows installer operational?
Wow as a techie I wish I had your skill set. One thing,,, You say EVGA is the best however it seems you have more EVGA cards in for repair than other brands? Personally I like Gigabyte as I've had less issue than with other brands. Also they have the best after sales support. At least in SA where I'm from. Keep up the awesome content!!
I have a strix gtx 1060. which have all the voltages and resistances present correctly. The pc boots up with no image and gpu fans 100% speeding. can you make a video tutorial on how to make a bootable mats usb which we can run and test blindly with no image on screen?
please make a how to identify components including the minor rails of a gpu pcb, resistances videos and stabbing guide where to stab probes for beginners please please please.
I just switched from nvidaa 3070ti to an amd 6950xt. Finding the adrenaline a lil cumbersome , but POINT IN THIS COMMENT IS TO SAY IN SURPRISED AND ALSO CURIOUS. Why so many nvidaa broken? Is it cuz amd isn’t as popular so You don’t get that many or is it there made better or is it you don’t specialize in amd? Is that why there’s basically zero on ur channel(idk haven’t looked hard, just the alerts I get)
Hello, How do you test memory GTX 1080 like you do here? My card shows only 4GB memory instead of 8GB, posts with black screen, everything else working, voltages, etc.???
Hello brother, I am repairing the graphics card. Is it possible to convert an 8gb card to 6gb in the rx series? For example, the chip is faulty, even if the d0 and 01 vrams are changed, it still shows faulty. In this case, is it possible to disable d0 and d1 and run the card as 6GB?
Hello When I enter the game (Warzone), after a few minutes the image freezes and nothing works, and I only have to press the reset button on the case to restart the system! I also tested it with the Furmark software and inside the GPU-Z software TDP it is at zero percent . GPU MODEL : ROG Strix 1050ti o4G ( The maximum temperature is 62 degrees under load )
Gddr5 and gddr6 are different size chips. You can change the brand of chips but this requires modifying the strap resistors. Same brand you can normally use anything that's equal or faster than the original
Friend very surprised with your videos, could you share the document detailing the pinout of the Memory, to be able to carry out the respective measurements
Hi, young-old man I have a tech-question! how to check on Samsung ddr5 memories? I got 70K while red probe on vddq and black on vssq! tell me if you want to stay young (!)
I have a thinkpad making sound of error display, and a coil is heating up pretty much. It all happen when I used it with a broken screen until it went dead. I live pretty far in a farm so I’m a little stuck with this problem.
