In this tutorial video I’ll show you how to check if your disc brake pads need replacing and walk you through the complete process of replacing SRAM HRD pads. The process includes information on aligning your disc brakes and on breaking in your new pads. Feel welcome to let me know in the comments section if you have any questions. I hope you find this video helpful!

My SRAM Apex hydraulic brakes look identical to yours. Since much of your adjustment to the levers are covered and shown quickly, I missed the major difference. Peeling back the hood reveals the hydraulic fluid fill port, not the adjustment screw. Loosening it does nothing. Tightening it snapped my T10 Torx wrench. I found where the actual hidden adjuster screw is on the Sick Biker channel. Not a terrible problem, but now I’ll look for videos I can freeze the images of critical steps until I’m absolutely sure. Thanks!

Nice video dude. Just curious, generally speaking how many miles do you think you should get out of a set of brake pads?

Thanks! It really depends. I recommend just checking them visually every so often. Weather/road conditions and seasons can effect the life of the pads significantly, as well as the brake pad material/brand, and if you are doing a lot of hills. But generally speaking, I think I’ve been replacing mine about twice a year. And ride around 4-5000 miles a year.

what kind of break pads do you use there? i dont know which one to buy for the sram axs except the original one. i wanted to buy that is made from carbon with organic pads material but i dont know which one.

The ones in this video are Gekors ceramic, off Amazon. I was testing them for the first time and I didn’t like them very much. I haven’t tried that many organic pads, but Jagwires organic pads are pretty good 🤙🏼

Your hands cover up a lot of the work.
