Mistakes 1 you should never prick the middle of the finger but at the sides as prolong pricking can damage the nerves required to touch sensitive, also when removing the microlance you should place the top back on before removing it, there is a push leaver on most lancers to remove not to pull out. And you should have a needle waste dispencer for the waste and last of all you didnt wash your hands as residue on the hands before washing can effect the meter readings....here endeth the lesson
I took my grandads as a joke and used it but my blood sugar turned out to be 6.8 3/3 times we did it. Google said that it’s considered pretty high and I checked the symptoms and I have them all so I’m going to take a blood test to find out
You’re not supposed to test directly after eating unless your doctor specifically says to!! After any person eats a meal their levels will naturally rise as the body begins to break down the food into sugars. Normal people’s bodies will produce the insulin needed to bring those levels back down while those with diabetes both type 1 & 2 either do not naturally produce insulin at all, do not produce enough of it, or are resistant to it which can/will cause your blood sugar to stay elevated. Typically you should wait about 2 hours after eating to test as that allows enough time for you to digest the food and for the natural insulin to act (or not act i suppose lol). Blood sugar can be very tricky and can vary from person to person though so it is always best to ask your doctor.
I'm new to all this, and maybe this is a stupid question, but is this to test your blood sugars or your A1C? (Would be great if it was the latter, no worries about finding transportation)

Before every meal and at night, some places though may require a temporary early morning check before knowing you're safe on your own. You could also get a continuous CGM monitor :)
No, you don't even have to do the touching part of your finger anyway. You can use the side of your finger so it doesn't cause problems with using your fingers.
My best educated guess and what would just honestly make the most sense in general is that it’s simply an extra precaution they are taught to take to further eliminate any chance of cross contamination or a faulty reading. Something that isn’t necessarily always needed but is encouraged because there’s always a chance the one time you don’t do it will be the one time it messes up and ultimately cost someone their life.
I,m not big fan of needles either but had to have my blood sugar checked today at the doctors as I have not been feeling well for the last month and they were covering all bases but I really didn't feel the needle so it was not too bad
Try buying the sensor patch that can go on your arm it can monitor ur sugar for longer depends on which one you buy there is a monthly one so u don’t need to prick ur finger everyday

Unfortunately there's no definitive answer for this one. Everyone has slightly different skin. We recommend starting on a 4 or 5 and adjusting from there if needed.

It is when you do it directly on the fingertip like in the video if I saw it right. I was always told to do it on the left or right of the fingertip because it hurts less.
