I found this helpful. Just changed my water pump and was wondering the best way to check my time. I got an aftermarket belt, so I made marks and transferred the marks manually. This video helped me know where I am. Thanks.
Nice👍did you know that when the camshaft marks align with the "T," the cams will be in a position where they don't turn out of place. And yes, Toyota/Lexus timing belts the arrow always points to the a-hole😂
As long as the timing is good it shouldn’t matter, crank it over by hand twice and make sure the engine timing marks are ok, don’t go off of the belts timing marks
Yes that’s long overdue….. Napa sells an asin kit which is the same as the toyota kit, or get directly through Toyota… and I recommend doing the idlers and tensioner while your in there along with the water pump of course
The marks on the belt is what I’m referring to, due to the ratio of the belt v the gears it’s not going to line up again in one revolution, the marks on the cams and crank gears absolutely will
Once you are completely done and it’s installed and the tensioner is pulled rotate the assembly once and check the marks on the crank and the cams, however don’t worry about the installation marks on the belt those won’t line back up again
