Yes, I like these kinds of videos. It's something I didn't rly understand, but now it all makes sense. I'm on 3x9 spd shimano with exactly the same casette/chainring sizes as in the example. On 26" MTB it's almost perfect. Would like to go 1x9-12 someday and just leave the old stuff on there.

Best video till date, It is unfortunate that we don't get to buy any of your components in India. Otherwise we only get Shimano components here. Why don't your guys supply components to India? Post a crash, I recently replaced my microshift derailers (FD, and RD both) to shimano just because we don't have any supplier of microshift in India, otherwise I personally felt that microshift offers great neck to neck competition in terms of quality and economy to shimano and wish we had a supply 😥

After some research, I am replacing M310 with M592 and to my understanding everything should work. I am only concered with M592 long cage hitting the ground on 20 wheels. Pull ratio should be the same and 8 speed vs 9 speed should not create a problem with compatibility
@johnwithers5671

I am looking at the M26 derailleur for my 7 speed bike. the short cage or the long cage meets the requirements in all respects with the differnce being that the short cage capacity is right on at 39T which is what i have on my bike. the long cage version has more capacity coming in at 45T. which should i choose in this case or will both work equally well? thanks jw
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Год назад
They will both work. My preference is to run the shortest cage you can get away with, because it will ride a little higher and have better chain security.

I just got a gravel bike with 10 speed GRX400 components…(46-30 and 10-34). I want to do a 1X system with 18-20 gear inches on the bottom and 80 or so on top. I’d like to retain the shifters so as to not change out the brakes. I can use any crankset that gives me a smaller chainring and hope to keep the best chain line possible. What Microsoft cassette/derailleur combo would work best?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH 4 месяца назад
Sorry for the late reply! You could try a Sword front derailleur, but it only has a slightly wider range than GRX. If it was me, I would just try a crank with a smaller chainring combo on your current setup and see if you can get it to work.

Yeah for sure, the cable pull on Shimano compatible 7-8-9 speed stuff is the same for drop bar and flat bar shifters.
@DaraParsavand
@DaraParsavand Год назад
Made sense though why didn’t you just go with the Shimano pull ratio for your Advent products too which would have kept things simpler?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Год назад
We're hoping Shimano changes their pull ratio to be Advent compatible.
@DaraParsavand
@DaraParsavand Год назад
@@microSHIFTTECH But that would imply that you changed the pull ratio for some design reason - if so, I haven't seen the reason published or explained on RU-vid. In general, I think standards change too much, so whenever you move away from a standard, you should have a good reason.

I have a 1x10 gravel bike, 40T in the front, and a ADVENT X H-SERIES 10 SPEED CASSETTE 11-48 in the back. I feel theres a huge gap sometimes in between the gears. What could i do to improve the riding?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Год назад
If you want smaller gaps between the gears, you'll either need a narrower cassette range, more speeds, or both. The best way to do that without changing the drivetrain would be to try a new cassette. Advent X will work as a "B" fit with an 11-42 cassette, and that will have gears that are slightly closer together.

i have a Scott aspect 950, whit 2x9 Shimano group, can put a 9 speed "CS-H093 11-46T" whit his respective shifter and delailleur ?? to make a 2x9 microshift/shimano hybrid??
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH 11 месяцев назад
No, the Shimano rear derailleur will not work with a 46T max cog. You'll need to use a rear derailleur made for a 46T max cog.
@JohnDoe-xf5yh

Hi I have a Shimano m - 615 rear derailleur I would like to use it as a 8 speed. Do you make a shifter with the same cable pull ratio. Thanks in advance.
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH 9 месяцев назад
You could try using an Acolyte shifter (SL-M6185-R) -- the pull ratios are pretty similar. It would definitely be a "B" fit, so the adjustment window would be very precise, but it could possibly work depending on how the rest of your bike is set up.
@YiZongOng
@YiZongOng Год назад
will the shifter compatability affect decision making process if I'm planning on switching to a friction shifter?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Год назад
Not really. You just have to make sure your shifter pulls enough total cable to get to all the gears on your rear derailleur. If you have a wide range cassette, I would look at one of our mountain bike bar end shifters because they have a bigger radius and pull a lot more cable.

Can you use an 11 speed rd with a 7 speed cassette? Please note that this set up has future cassette speed upgrades in mind.
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH 2 месяца назад
Generally that doesn't work. A 7 speed chain is much wider than an 11 speed chain. The 11 speed rear derailleur has a cage that's designed to manage that narrower chain, so using a 7 speed chain can cause problems.

what is difference in direct mount or hook mounted?
@microSHIFTTECH
@microSHIFTTECH Месяц назад
Just the way the derailleur mounts. Most bikes have a derailleur hanger so you can mount the derailleur directly to that. Some don't so you need a hook on the derailleur that can be fit under the axle nut on the rear wheel.
