I’ve got a pulse 210 as my first canopy in my first rig, I bought it because everyone said it’s a great smooth first canopy with good reliable on heading openings and a really easy landing ~ all the things I want 😀

I love the flat glide for long spots and it helps my landings. Being blind in one eye it makes a difference. So now I'm on a Pulse 210 @ 1.1 to 1 and It's snappy and fun to fly. The extra time in the air it gives me to work on skills is great! I also have a Storm 190 but not ready for the speed just yet. I'm enjoying the flatter flight of the Pulse so much it may be a while before I get on my storm. :D

Completely unrelated but I just went on my first tandem jump today and I'm completely hooked!! I have you to thank for giving me the knowledge and confidence I needed to finally schedule the jump after throwing the idea around for a while. Next step is AFF!!! Thank you so much! I jump 2 crossfires, but selling one and changing it to a Fluid Wings Echo. Most important characteristics for me would be rear risers and flare. I never fly my canopy with toggles. Toggles are used for the flare on landing only. I like good powerful rears and a smooth snivly opening. My CF3 snivles for 1000 feet.

As someone who's looking to purchase their first rig I must say this video was super helpful. It's given me a little checklist of items to consider when finding the perfect canopy for me. And I've already made up my mind that the container will be from Rigging Innovations (thanks to you). Oh and I've also started using an X2 by AON2 because of your review lol! Keep up the good work! I learn something from every single one of your videos!

Is there a danger on using a very large canopy, with very low wingloading? Im still using student parachutes but ive bee asking around on what i should buy. I enjoy long gliding times, and my flaring timing is far from perfect still, so a large, forgiving canopy sounds nice for me. I dont think ill ever be interested in swooping, it looks exciting but i like to chill and enjoy the view as long as possible.

can u make a video or tell us how to measur a surface of canopy.. for exemple: canopy of 150 fett square.. wht does that means.. and how the manufacurer measur it.. plz
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 3 года назад
Hey thanks for your question! In fact, this is the area of the canopy above your head. But precisely, I would have to check. My question would be why would you like to know that?
@skydiver333nacer2
@skydiver333nacer2 3 года назад
@@SkydiveVibes I want to know because I am a accuracy jumping instructor, and sometimes new jumpers ask me about how to calculate the area of a parachute and what does 282 square feet mean, for example .. and how does the facturer calculate it .. And of course if we calculate the length multiply by th width of the canopy, we will not find the real measur written in the Label Mark in the rear of canopy.. So You could have answered me. I would be grateful .. I think the manufacturers know that, and I think you do too .. Thank you in advance mom.

Great video. Note to anyone thinking of getting FLUID WINGS.... I have the gangster 135 which is semi cross braced. The company is smaller and not as well. The gangster doesn’t open for 1000ft and has very bad openings. Many people will tell u they have had a cutaway due to opening. On my 12th jump on a brand new canopy I had a cutaway due to major line twist with this canopy and I know many others that had the same experience. However, great canopy for fast landings, flying like a f16 and super responsive. Glides with some 210s for a bit and dives like hell.

Ive done a few static line jumps and Ive found out it's so much easier to land on your butt. My last jump I just lifted my legs up and slide in on my butt. It was so smooth and I didn't have to worry about twisting my ankle or hurting my leg. It looks silly but seems safer.
@bolek117
@bolek117 3 года назад
It is all ok until you find one loose stone underneath your back. It is always better to hurt your ankle than to hurt your spine. If you can land safely on your butt then for sure you can do that safely standing. Just fight your fear and give it a try!
@clutchnixon5880
@clutchnixon5880 3 года назад
@@bolek117 I'm gonna try again. My first 3 landings were awful, maybe I didn't flare hard enough because I hit the ground kinda hard and I just had one foot dig into the ground and I collapsed. My 4th jump I didn't didn't want to deal with it so I put my feet up and it was so much more pleasant
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
@@bolek117 Yeah agreed.
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
@@clutchnixon5880 Also if you time a slide wrong impacting your spine can seriously mess you up. Sliding in is a lot less forgiving. Your a lot better off landing on your legs and doing a PLF if you mess up your flare as a good PLF will be a lot lower chance of injury then sliding in. At my DZ if they see you regularly sliding in they are going to have a chat with you about safety. I get away with it cause I use a wheelchair but I wouldn't advise doing it unless your a tandem instructor, swooper or have to due to a disability as it does increase your chance of injury. I've been told many stories of worse injuries due to people sliding in instead of standing it up. I'd say talk to the S&TA and some instructors at your dz about it to get some more qualified advice on what to do and how to work on your flare. Practicing your flare while still at a high altitude(2500+) is useful.
@clutchnixon5880
@clutchnixon5880 3 года назад
@@MatthewPeel Well I tried to flare sooner today and that was a big mistake. I had a brutal landing, I did my PLF though. Still, my whole body is sore, and I think I may have broken my foot. Landing is hard...
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
Since I'm always flaring lower for a smooth slide in on my ass I like a powerful flare. I find it's easier to time even if I'm going faster if I have that extra pop. Plus if I time it slightly off and have to dig in having a quick responsive pop is nice. Probably will go with a Sabre 2 or 3 when I downsize next.
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 3 года назад
Interesting. So you don't land on your feet yet? It would be important to work on that. ;) Let me know when you are looking for your next ride. ;)
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
@@SkydiveVibes I use a wheelchair so butt landings tend to be safer for me. Just gotta focus a little extra on that perfect timing. Which is why I like having a little extra power so I'm those rare moments I time it wrong I have that extra power to ensure a smooth landing. I've landed on my feet twice when the winds lined up perfectly(no forward momentum after flare)and then just fell over. 🤪 LOL and a third time where I hit my feet with fast forward momentum and had to do a PLF so I didn't face plant. 😂 I had been wondering how a PLF would look for me until I did one. I always just assumed I'd treat it like getting tossed in the air outta my chair and that's pretty much what I did hit feet fall to my stronger right side and tuck and roll.
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
@@SkydiveVibes I definitely get a lot of funny looks at the DZ and people wondering what in the hell was that when they see someone flaring lower and sliding in until they realize who it was and then they're like "oh that actually was a perfect flare now that I know it was you." LOL 😂🤣
@SkydiveVibes
@SkydiveVibes 3 года назад
@@MatthewPeel Oh I am sorry then of course you need to land on your butt! hahaha Amazing that you skydive! I have a friend too who has skydived for many years even if he had a handicap!
@MatthewPeel
@MatthewPeel 3 года назад
@@SkydiveVibes No need to be sorry. It is a valid point for the majority of people as if you mess up a flare on your butt your more likely to get injured then if you mess up a flare on your feet. It's why I put a lot more attention and research into landings. Skydiving is one of those things I've always known I wanted to do. Gotta keep things exciting in life. ;) Just had to wait until things lined up so I could do it as I didn't want to do my first jump until I could afford to get my license. So finally things lined up so I could start in June. At 53 jumps so far. Probably will get my B license towards the end of this month as that's when I have a canopy course scheduled.
