Hi everyone! Today we're talking about face shapes again :-) On top of those tips on earring shapes / proportions, you can watch further videos on color and metal choices for your undertone (links in the description). And feel free to add your questions below!
Thank you for yet another very informative video! Would you consider talking about these two topics in the future : how to style and care for eyebrows, and how to care for your lips at all ages (specially mid thirties) ? Thank you again !
I love that you did a video on earrings, it's one of the few pieces of jewelry I wear because they're cute and can be outspoken but still appropriate. I'm a silver girl and love turquoise piece since I'm black and that color really pops on our skin tone so close to the face. I always like structured earrings that are geometric because I have natural hair that goes out so it adds structure to the face. I'm a round diamond shape face so I don't like super round or long it looks out of proportion.
One of my favourite sounds every week is "Hi everyone, it's Justine..." Joy! I know I'm in for a visual, information & sound treat!! These videos are just marvellous for enlightenment, understanding & great advice. Please don't ever stop making them - they are just fabulous. 😘😘
Justine, I love your videos and think they're extremely smart. I've recently been trying to identify my style and really cull my wardrobe. I love your capsule series and video about finding your style. Just a thought for future video/series: I would love to see more videos talking about certain "schools of style" i.e. Which designers focus on feminine, modern, or other styles for women. Really being able to label what specific styles are called and what fabrics and shapes go with those style types. Just some thoughts! Thank you for the wonderful videos! ❤️
I love coming home from work on Wednesday evenings, because a new "Justine video" is waiting for me! :) as for today's topic, I am a long oval and have tried numerous types of earrings throughout years. And I have noticed that hoop earrings are perfect (even small ones, as long as the shape is totally round, not elipse shape). Other than hoops, in my opinion long ovals are good with "ball shaped earrings" (but they have to be short and close to ears) and "teardrop shaped earrings" (again, close to ears). Also, in the past I used to have super long hair like Justine and could not find long earrings flattering on me... until I cut my hair very short (like Anne Hathaway type haircut), and now the elongated earrings look very flattering on me and everybody compliments when I wear them. So I can reccommend to all the long oval face ladies out there :) cheers and take care!
In the past I have chosen earrings to wear based upon my outfit only. Now I will also consider my hair style which I noticed the difference in the various shots and face shape. Great info as always Justine.
I really appreciated this video as I had never thought about how my face shape affected the look of my earrings. I have a difficult time finding earrings that work for me because of my poofy earlobes, which seem to swallow any smaller earrings (especially studs!), and my curly hair, which seems to make earrings nonexistent. That said, I now have better info on what to look for. Thanks!!
Hi Justine! It was really a helpful video. But being a heart-faced, I've also observed that rings or hoops (like the ones you mentioned for square face) also really give a good look to my face. I've been using them after trying almost all the types of earrings. I don't know if it's only for me, but I think rings can also be good for heart face.
Great video, Justine. I make jewelry and this video has inspired me to create earrings to complement the different face shapes. Thanks for sharing such useful content in all of your videos.
I think neck length is important too, I am kind of self conscious about this because I have a very short neck. I can wear quite chunky dangling earrings but not super long or they brush my shoulders and look silly! 😅 I really envy women with long elegant necks. Thanks for your videos, they are super helpful! I am learning a lot about how to work with what I have 😊
I have a capsule wardrobe and rely heavily on my accessories to keep my look varied. These are great tips for earrings, I've never really thought about it before!
I really like this darker makeup on you. The lipstick and your eyebrows are really lovely on you--the seem to bring out the color of your eyes. Thanks for the earring tips. I've never liked long earrings on myself, and now I know why!
You are the most knowledgeable and wonderful stylist I have found. Your videos are so helpful, insightful & to the point. Just what we need! Thanks, again for sharing. Your beautiful, happy, smile brightens my day.
You look exceptionally stunning this video. I love your content, it's so interesting and educational. I really hope you keep bringing us more of your wisdom !
Your earrings collection is gorgeous! You should add gemstone earrings if you don't have them already! Emerald would look stunning on you! One of the biggest reasons I'm sad about having brown eyes is that emeralds or sapphires won't look as stunning on me, sobs...
Maybe you could try peridot, a clear light green semi-precious stone? I have also found that a medium blue clear blue topaz (also not too expensive) looks very good with my very dark green eyes. I would NEVER turn down a gift of real emeralds or sapphires (are you KIDDING me?!), but these two lighter-colored semi-precious stones are actually more flattering. My irises are such a dark green that in low light, they look (basically) just dark So maybe these stones will look good with your brown eyes, as well.
That's a great suggestion, thank you! Thus far, I've only considered rubies, because if I can't have green eyes, I can at leas wear red lipsticks, lmao. But yeah, peridot is quite lovely, I'll keep an eye out for it. Here's to receiving gifts of emerald- and/or sapphire- and/or ruby-encrusted jewels! :) (Also, your eyes sound lovely! Not to be rude, but they sound exactly like my dog's: stunning and they make people wonder.)
That's very kind of you to say - certainly no offense taken (I am a dog-lover)! I also find that amethyst, another inexpensive semiprecious stone, is very flattering. It may be the lighter, clearer color that is a pleasing contrast to the darkness of my irises. I usually try to get ones with a color clear enough, and an open setting, so that the light will come through them.
Justine, you come up with some of the most creative and helpful content! Thank you so much 💜 super round face here and I never even really wear earrings because the ones I like always make me look awkward, now I know why! 😂
Thank you for making this video! I love earrings, and I always wonder if bigger ones will suit me. Thank you for making me feel a bit more confident about doing so. :D (I have a diamond shaped face)
You saved me from commiting a big mistake: piercing my ear to wear earcuffs.. I have big ears and my face is heart-shapped! LoL can you imagine how my chin would look even longer and thinner, I would look like the E.T!
I found this video so helpful. I have a pear shaped face and never thought to try wearing ear cuffs. Now I have so many options :D Lots of love from South Africa
In your videos i have learned that i have a diamond face shape.i used to think that i'm oval.haha your videos are helpful.especially when i want to give earrings as a gift :-)
Hi Justine! I have an oval face and now have long dark hair, but the thing about earrings is that, because I wear glasses (and I've always felt better with thick frame ones) I don't usually like to see myself with earrings as I feel it looks like too much around my face. When I had a very short pixie cut though, I didn't mind using both, but still very discreet or minimalist earrings (even if long ones). When I was a teen, I remember wearing mismatched earrings all the time (like one tiny and one long - usually a feather...I know, so boho!). Thank you for sharing these tips :)
AHA! so many "aha" moments within this video. Ive always been a stud fan, particularly pearls, since they look quite elegant but i do not have the guts to wear something that is out of my comfort zone. I think i am, more or less, in between a round and a square shape. Im still figuring it out. XD Thank you for sharing these tips! Love it!
My reaction to the notification was actually a "Yayyy!" Out loud at the bus lol ❤️ and apparently I did it right with the earrings all along do yay me 😉
Hi, Justine, thank you for such a brief and precise, but useful indeed video! Now we will experiment with what we have in the jewelry box, haha! Xoxoxo!
Justine, I really enjoy watching your videos! I am learning so much and you always peak my interest about things I've never considered before, such as this video. I love that they are short and to the point too. Thank you!
thanks so much for a great video! 😄 this video is very helpful. I never thought of different earrings and how they well look on different face shapes. I just love your channel❤
I find that haircut style affects so much the style of earrings. When I had a pixie cut, it suppose to be the perfect time to wear bold earrings but I somehow didn't like most of them on me (hoops and round earrings) but now that i have short bob i realized those shapes actually work so much better so I'm wearing them again as well. It's strange but different haircuts, athough all can suit you just great, change the shape of your face so much...
Your videos are so wonderful, thank you! The timing here is great because I just pulled out my long skeleton earrings for Halloween and was just noticing how much they visually slim my face and neck (I have a round face). I guess that observation and this video mean I need to go buy more long earrings!
Justine Leconte officiel Everything! It's fun to watch your tips for all the face shapes. And you never know when you'll have to help someone make the best choice
Justine, I love your videos as always (thanks for this one, too!). I have to disagree on some of your recommendations for square faces. I have a square face. Personally, I feel that larger, round hoops just make my face look wider -- which is a way of emphasizing the jaw. I either wear very long teardrop-, diamond- or triangle shaped statement earrings (typically about 2" in length), the dangle style you recommended, OR simple studs --- nothing else. The studs are safe and don't emphasize anything you don't want to highlight, but the longer, statement earrings (I feel) actually lengthen my face in an elegant way. Another factor is how the earrings hang... a lot of wider, circular hoops are stiff and don't offer much movement. The trick for longer earrings and square faces, IMO, is to find an earring that's fastened in a way to provide a little more movement so that you don't have any fixed angle.
Rencie Woolsey , I agree. I have a square face and I avoid hoops, especially large hoops. I stopped wearing them because I was tired of always catching something in them (a finger, my hair, a hairbrush, etc., etc.)....but quickly realized that they actually were not as flattering as other styles. I don't wear studs, either, but that's because mostly I dislike being poked in the side of my head with the back of the stud (or perhaps because those were the only earrings authorized for wear with my military uniform office and dress uniforms, and I got tired of them). I find medium-sized semi-precious stones dangling right below my earlobe on looped ear-wires or lever-backs most flattering. You can buy little plastic "grippers" over the ear wires to make them more secure.
I love earrings and cannot go without them; I tend to purchase statement pieces. My problem is that I can’t seem to wear necklaces with them at all. Or is that just me? How do I match my earrings to other pieces without looking too “matchy matchy”/overkill? Ps love your vertical triangle earrings. Especially the one on the left! I will hunt for something similar :)
I tend to match earring and necklaces by only the color, or a common theme or look. If they are too similar, I don't do it. Or I only wear the chain without the pendant on it. Hope that might help :) I'm not a pro, but I like my own style
Wow. You look absolutely stunning in this video! Also, thank you for your great tips and explanations. I have become quite addicted to your channel. Have a good day!
Thank you! I have a diamond face with a chin that is a bit longer and narrower. I was surprised how much the "right" earrings changed the proportions of my face.
This is the second video I see you made about face shapes and as I'm an oval it wasn't very useful hahaha (not complaining or anything) but it was very entertaining! Will see the one about sunglasses now
