Every single video, I always have a pleasant realization of: "Oh my god! We're immediately starting with the video!" I just want to thank you for staying so true to this channel's brand, and for being so informative about fashion!
I often shop at thrift stores- watching Justine has helped me pick clothes based on how well they are made etc. I have literally replaced most of my worn out clothes with this method and done so with great success because of this channel.
Yes yes yes life long thrifter, started out because I loved vintage styles, now a necessity to afford quality clothes. Justine has educated me on finding the best quality while out thrifting.
I agree with you, I've also bought often from Op shops since seeing her. I also sew many of mine..I have shared on my facebook page to make others aware of "fast fashions" and normal life!
@@cc83jc85 I wish I could sew! I have a nerve disorder I developed during my dissertation process. Thank God I got that done lol thrifting is a life saver. Even for kids clothing too.
This was so helpfully laid out, as always. I appreciate that you never demonize any body shape, size, or insecurity - you simply help people to emphasize the parts of their own body that they like the best! It helps me to be positive about my good parts without being negative about my flaws.
I so hope we are done with uncomfortable clothes, and especially, shoes. One tiny good thing to come out of this terrible pandemic is that almost everything has become comfortable, at last.
As a BIPOC, I appreciate how respectful and authentic you are to diversity. Listening to your informative videos is a reflection of your knowledge and skills. You speak to women regardless of background.
Honestly, I’m thinking I’ll see myself a late Victorian swimsuit that covers everything, complete with a swimming corset to go underneath. Perfect support (for my back as well, as I have a disability due to spinal issues), and it covers everything, and it’s very cute. Bella Mae dis a couple of videos where she makes her late Victorian swimmers and corset, and shows herself swimming and surfing in them. I think I’d be much more comfortable (physically and mentally), in something like that, than in modern swimwear that just shows far too much skin for me to be comfortable with.
@Neartmhor: I feel exactly the same! For years I’ve worn knee length shorts and a long top. Still looking for a tunic-like rash guard with at least 3/4 sleeves. A burkini would be great. Must check out Bella Mae. Stay well!
@@RainbowSunshineRain Honestly, a goodly part of the appeal is just how darn cute late Victorian swimwear is, not only how much it covers up and supports.
I thought the same thing in the beginning. But by the end I feel I could find something I would be confident to wear. I currently own a flowy top and skirt tankini for maximum coverage. I may dare to wear something different...next year. My size is very limited and runs out in May.😊 Cheers!❤
I usually swim as a sport, so I always wear the same one-piece black sports swimsuit. Even at the beach. I like playing in the waves without any worries!
I am so glad that you did swimwear, i lost a lot (60 kg) of bodyfat and my breast is changed from H to C,so i did not know what to do,but because of this video, i know now. Thank you, i am very greatfull.(i know my inglish is not so good, sorry for that)😃
This is the only fashion/style channel I follow regularly and with pleasure. Especially in the last 18months I couldn’t bring myself to pay any attention to the „must-have-of-the-season“ rubbish. Justine provides great advice on how to wear what’s stylish and sustainable in a very relatable way. Thank you Justine!
Loved this, I love the way you consider everyone (all body types and needs) in your videos. So inclusive and giving professional & trustworthy advice for free, amazing 👌 xx
I would like to thank you for going into detail on how to recognize quality fabric and construction in a swimsuit. I have never seen or heard anyone explain that and it is super important.
Thank you, Justine! I've missed this type of video from you! As a typical mediterranean girl, I have wide hips (pear shape body) that are really expanding lately, as I deeply dislike any kind of sport. I don't expect to have the whole cake and eat it too, but sometimes I look my body and I don't like what I see. Then I try some kind of gym/sport and I want to cry. Your video is very comforting and I like that you don't have to state anything specific but you make everyone feel comfortabe.
You're amazing! It's nice to see that there are still people who actually have a lot of knowledge about a certain topic and share their knowledge rather than just people who seek attention for very little content Wow I sound like a 50 year old but I truly am positively surprised, thank you 😊
Instantly off to look through Organics Basics' catalogue. Doesn't matter if it's a sponsored video - I trust Justine's integrity enough to trust the brand as well
There are other sustainable smaller brands also that cannot do large marketing. We at SWIMBE can make any swimwear possible, as we make custom made swimsuits only :)
I'm a shy/modest person, so wear Land's End tankinis and swim mini skirts. You can buy the top and bottoms separate, and the tops come with different cup sizes. They have a wide range of coverage options, including long sleeve "rash guards." (or bikinis for those who like that.) The one I have now I've had for several years without wearing out, but I don't swim very often. (I'm in the US.)
We don't wear bikinis in my country we wear long covered swimsuits, but I watched the whole video though it won't affect me greatly since I'd never buy one, just for the sake of knowing! Your information and experience are worth listening and much much appreciated, whatever you do I'll watch even if I won't buy these clothes and accessories, just watching to learn! So thank you so much, much love and appreciation! ❤️
Super helpful!!! I would love a part 2 about athletic swimwear vs casual. Not sure if you have that expertise. But jolyn has been a popular brand out here in California for all the water polo, speed, & synchronized swimmers. I’ve also seen weird questions on the internet about “can I wear my leotard as a swimsuit”? Just bc it looks the same cut as a swimsuit.
Yes Justine! You are absolutely right that in 2021 we shouldn't think about how we look at the beach and just enjoy ourselves! 👏 I hate the expression "beach body". Since you have a body and you go to the beach, there you go... you have a body in the beach. 😁 Nothing else needs to be done! Oh and choose a swimming suite that you like and enjoy of course 😉
Very informative! Couple of take aways: big prints for tall people (184cm over here), bright colours in swimwear are prone to fading (I own a bright red bikini) and how to look for quality.
Thank you for a very good video, as always! Organic Basics looks like a really good brand - but like almost all other swimwear/underwear makers, they don't take into account women who actually need bust support. Even their curvy model clearly doesn't need a lot of support in that area. I've been looking for a one-piece swimsuit for years without success. I can't wear under-wire bras because of chronic pain, which makes it more difficult, but with all the non-wire bras and tops that has emerged in recent years I'm hopeful that one day, some swimsuit designer will finally realise that quite a few women actually have big boobs.
Supportive swimsuits are way too rare :( i have a suggestion; if you can find an underwired swimsuit you like the look of, you may be able to wear it by just removing the underwires. If it has padding and is a snug enough size that may be enough support. Or if you bring it to a tailor they may be able to add an extra lining with a band, or even replace the wire with something flexible, like the stuff they use for nursing bras. I hope you find a solution you're happy with :)
Justine, you are fantastic. Thank you for finally saying what is on a lot of women's mind. We just want to live our lives and stop thinking about what we look like.
I am curently making my own swimwear. Cut out onepease, in blue an with ruffles on top. Choose recicled fabric of course. And now I know that I can make lining from the same fabric. Thank you!
@@Neenerella333 Well I am not done yet. :) And I had also have some problems with simple things. You can see my result on Instagram (DKO_Mood). It should be ready on Saturday.
Hello Justine! I think that our bodies, no matter how they are, deserved to be loved by us and then by everyone else. The person who looks at another person and the only thing they find to say is if they have a big belly/bottom/bust etc, is a real fashion victim who has many personal problems. Everyone should enjoy life and I do it everywhere I am in everything I do and whatever I wear. So, let us all have fun with life! I think you really are one of the most non complexed (I hope that you can understand what I mean!) people there are out there! Thank you!
This is very helpful, thank you! I totally agree that feeling comfortable and confident are most important. I have a bikini that I bought in high school back when no one was wearing one-pieces, and I have always felt uncomfortable in it. I'm always afraid it's going to slip off and it doesn't flatter my body type at all. I'm so glad that in 2021 there is so much variety in terms of style!
So helpful, thank you. So interesting when you say that fashion is there to make ourselves feel more confident with your body which I agree with. However I wish that the fashion industry would use models with a variety of sizes to represent real life 🧐
"I think that in the 21st century we're done feeling uncomfortable in our clothes" WORD 🙌 I've followed your channel for several years and I've grown into someone who is much more confident about their body and style also thanks to your content. Kudos And I also just wanna go play as soon as I am at the beach hehe
Thank you So much FOR this tips. I ll buy a swimsuit from the recommended site as this year I ll go to visit Egypt ❤.I like a lot your videos because I learn so much new stuff about fashion and how to dress myself better
Hi Justine!! I love your videos!! I have a request for you. Can you create a demo video for finding your style through Pinterest.... On the lines of the 'find your style' video you did a few years ago. Can you please cover the following topics as well: 1. How to section boards properly - western fancy, western daily wear, traditional fancy etc or tops, bottoms, dresses, etc 2. Creating a visual for the overall board- a perfect mood board that sums up your style 3. Understanding your style board to shop mindfully to build a perfect capsule wardrobe 4. How to understand and pin fabrics? 5. A Pinterest guide from start to end of your finding your style video - pinning your inspiration, pinning your season, pinning patterns and cuts? 6. Should I create one board with multiple sections or multiple boards and multiple sections to build my style?
You will find what you need by mixing a top with a different bottom. Just keep in mind, if they are by different brands, that the fabric weight/texture/thickness should be similar, so that both last and remain in good shape together 😊
I wear Land's End tankinis and swim mini skirts. You can buy the top and bottoms separate, and the tops come with different cup sizes. They have a wide range of coverage options, ranging from bikinis to long sleeve "rash guards." The one I have now I've had for several years without wearing out, but I don't swim very often. (I'm in the US, and Land's End is more of a classic quality brand, as opposed to a trendy brand.)
As always I learned a few new things from watching your video. Thank you for always providing us with good quality content that it usable in so many ways! :)
This is so useful. I always assumed a high waisted bottom would draw attention to my post baby belly rather than help me hide it for some reason. Going to try this next time I go shopping for swimsuits
Great guide, I'm only envious of those of you who are able to wear metal hardware on a swimsuit, I have a severe metal alergy to brass, zinc and all these low tier metals, my swimsuit would have to be made with silver or stainless steel at least preferably with rhodium coating :D so I'll go with the plastic cheap hardware unfortunately
Helpful here in winter in Australia, thanks Justine 😅 But I just want to recommend sunsafe fabrics. I've been using them for years and they work. Add 50+ sunscreen to the uncovered skin 15 minutes before you go outdoors and you're set. You can also use sunsafe walking gear and gym gear - it's all worth it when you're older.
I love you.. I literally love you! Love your videos.they are informative, interesting in their own way, without any extra or useless talking at the starting and just jumping to the content..I appreciate this everytime I watch your videos. Love from India🥰
I had to pause the video twice to clear out my bikini drawer and to place 2 orders for new swimwear. As a scuba diving professional and part-time seal I need swimwear that fit my plus-size body and stay in place during activities.
Thank you Justine for another pleasant and extremely informative video. It is lovely to hear from you again. I hope you are having a wonderful summer!!
OMG, Justine, you are so right! We want to be comfortable and not worry about how we look, the bikini not fitting right and all that. I just want a simple, comfortable, good quality suit, that fits me like the underwear does. But it is so difficult to find...
