I know this is an old video but - Thank you thank you! I've never seen anyone address the issue of monolids being pushed down by false lashes. No one has understood my struggles lol. I already put in an order for the natural lashes you recommended.

+mirrorcleworld I feel your pain! For years I wondered why my false lashes never looked as good as other peoples and it was really disheartening. Moreover even when I had my makeup done at beauty counters, sometimes the mua didn't get it either and made my makeup look silly!

I found this video extremely helpful. I have uneven eyelids as well and putting falsies on has become quite a hassle because one eye would have an extreme double lid while the other would not. Now I'm super tempted to get those Dolly Wink lashes!

I love this video my favorite lashes are the Ardell lashes because they are affordable and come in a variety of styles. I love how in this video how you went in depth and took your time to explain and demonstrate the lashes on each eye as well as show different brands of lashes Truly a great video

Finally a video for a pair of eyes I can relate to! I also have one double eyelid and one mono lid, and struggle to find lashes that make my eyes look even. The dolly wink ones look good. I’ll be trying them for sure! Thanks so much for uploading this video!

Thank you so much for posting this! I've always had trouble with the thick falsies other youtubers recommend but they never work with my monolids as they obstruct my vision and are uncomfortable. I'm going to try out the more natural lighter falsies as recommended!

I feel your pain! I first started experimenting with lashes before beauty on RU-vid was a big thing so most of my info came from Seventeen magazine and the like... sadly most of those weren't fit for me. I've really hope you'll find something that works for you!

I love this video! It was great and you can tell how much effort you put in it. Can you make a video about how you clean and look after your lashes? Because I struggle with that and end up throwing them away after 1 or 2 uses...

+vivivincenza Oh gosh, I'd be so broke if I had to throw lashes away after 1-2 uses but I definitely understand your struggle. I'll put that idea on my to-do list! I've been able to get up to 20 wears out of some of my lashes!

I thought i knew a lot about false lashes but this definitely taught me a lot more. I dont have monolids but you made this very interesting. I have never thought about how the shape of your lid can affect the wear of your lashes .. I just thought it was more luck of the draw when you put them on. So thank you for making this video .. I also going to try to the dolly wink lashes. I do have round eyes but the reviews seem so good that I want to try them away. Do you think the shape of my eyes will matter with the dolly wink lashes? Thank you again.

+Susana Barrientos They might be a bit long (in width) if you have rounder eyes so consider trimming them to size but I think they will be very cute! The separated style without too much volume will give you a more naturally dolly look :)

At some point, you just gotta say "look, it's not me, it's the lashes"... it's definitely one of those things that's hard to explain to people with double eyelids etc. I find the way you apply the lashes can also sometimes change the final look and how they sit on monolids. Practice and good luck!

yes, Yes, YES! Thank you for this video, just what I needed to know. At the end, you mentioned about trimming the falsies to size - can you elaborate? like which end to cut and any tips on measuring. Also, do your falsies have adhesives or do you use glue, and if so any favorite brands? thanks ^_^

+bellesalvia I'd recommend cutting from the outer edge UNLESS the outer edge has some special detail that makes it unique, in that case I'd trim from the inner side. I actually don't always trim my lashes because I like to wear winged style eyeliner and the longer length actually adds to the illusion of my wings (longer eyes) but if you're going for a more fitted look then definitely give it a trim. Curl your lashes (if you do), apply mascara and then gently place the false lash on top of your own starting from the inner corner and see if goes too far beyond the edge of your eye; if yes then cut away the extra. As for glue, it can depend on the type of lashes you are wearing (soft backbone or hard backbone). I tend to wear the soft ones most often nowadays and the Dollywink lash glue is my favourite. It's a brush tip and easy for touch-ups if my lashes start lifting and I need to stick it back in place.

Extremely helpful, thank you so much! One question, when you say the lash band should have a 'hard plastic backing' how does this differ from the clear plastic band? And how does he string band compare? I have very thick eyelids that cover half of my eyelashes lol so I really need lashes that won't be pushed down

I would not recommend the string bands if you have thick eyelids because they don't have enough "heft" if you will. The hard plastic band are sturdier than the clear plastic bands and will probably be your best option although they are comparatively the least comfortable. Hard plastic bands are thicker and the lash hairs are "sandwiched" between the band whereas in the clear plastic bands, the hairs are usually knotted onto the band.

+pac man It really depends on the specific shape of your eyes, the ones I've shown are the ones that work best for me. I don't know what to recommend unless I know more details about your situation!

...I know exactly that "look" you're referencing! I think there's actually quite a misconception that bigger lashes are "better" which is absolutely not the case for everyone. There's certainly the right and wrong type of lashes for different eye shapes.

Try to wear eyelid tape 24/7 in one month on your monolid and it will make your monolid become more visible :)

A tip to make eyelashes just seem a bit more natural: if you fine they have a shine or such, take a spooley and ruffle them up (gently) until you notice the lashes become more wispy and "natural" looking
