For street photography, in a small bag, I usually carry a 56mm f/1.2 lens on an Fuji X mirrorless body. In my hand, I usually carry a 23mm f/2 on a second Fuji X mirrorless body. Rather than waste time changing lenses, I simply exchange the camera in the bag with the one in my hand.
Hello Ambreen, it took me 4 years until I knew that street photography was my great passion. In the time before, I tried out a lot of other things and also bought equipment for them. This means I am now very versatile and can mix different genres together. I can only advise every beginner to first buy a zoom kit lens and then see where the journey takes them. I now own around 20 lenses, almost each of which serves its own purpose and is specialized for that purpose. I don't want to know how much money I spent on it, although I bought most lenses on the used market for half the price new. It's an expensive hobby, but I'm sure every horse costs more money 😂
That a great journey 🤩 Exactly how it should be. Only by trail and error and experimentation a true path can emerge. I’ve also experimented a lot the last 8 years I’ve practiced Street photography 🙏🏽 Also what a great collection of lenses you might have collected 📸
Hi Ambreen, good to see you back and glad you had a fun staycation and are enjoying the street. Has been the same for me. I am 2/3 the way through Digital Minimalism (thanks for the recommendation). I have mostly cut out Internet/RU-vid/Netflix/streaming at night so I have been reading much more - just finished the Ibis Trilogy by Amitav Ghosh (historical fiction about India and China during the opium wars) . Generally following no like, comment except for a half a dozen photography channels I subscribe to :-). Do you ever take courses? I used a birthday gift to get Alex Soth "Visual Storytelling" from Magnum Photos, fantastic course. All the best.
Sounds fantastic. Cutting out social media makes so much time for other things - it stills amaze me :). No I haven’t been on a photography course but the magnum seems great. Been reading a bit more about the collective and how it came to be and the OG photographers that are / were involved. Might just buy the magnum contact sheet book 📸
I don't agree, plenty time I missed a nice pic cause I didn't take a second lens. It depends on what you do. I mostly buy used camera gear and vintage forgotten lens cause you can do a lot with it for a fraction of the price of modern lenses without encouraging the madness of novelty.
@@hipster_cph It is the genius of capitalism that it convinces so many that the next big purchase will make them feel complete. This is known as marketing.
