I’ve been using the NTH100’s pretty much every day since March or April and they’re my favorite headphones ever. I think my projects have also improved in audio quality since I’ve been using them. The detachable cords are a lifesaver. I have one cable for editing and another permanently connected to an amp for bass/guitar practice. 🙌
Hey Tom! Yeah, I've searched for many months until finally trying these out. Really, really nice. Your video on these really helped with the decision. :)
OK...call me a Nerd, but I LOVE the fact that these headphones are labeled "R" and "L" right inside the earcups! Can't tell you how many times I've struggled trying to figure out which was which on other headphones. I know some people might think that's a nit-pick but when your editing stuff that has audio that's purposely spatially isolated, that's a REALLY big deal! I also like the fact that the pads seem to be dense foam and aren't covered with that black fake leather stuff that just ends up shedding off all over your face as the pads age. And the option to move the cable from left to right to suit your editing station - GENIUS!!! And the price is certainly right. I need to go check these out for SURE!
Yeah, that crunchy ears feeling and heated hot head feeling do suck after editing for a very long time. I’ve been waiting to catch these headphones go on sale on BnH or something.
you will never find third party ear cushion and a few years Rode will say we no longer makes them.... you got a great headphone, but 2 years down the road you can't find ear cushions, you are screwed.
I have a pair of them. Really smooth sounding. Great for editing. Neutral headphones are difficult to find. There’s a little rubber stopper that should be in the unused socket. If the socket is left open with no plug, it changes the bass in that side. The outtake was lovely. The V6 was replaced by the mdr7506 and many preferred the old V6 which made them into collectors items. So the filthy robbers are wapping the old one out at a ridiculously stupid price. Sony should never have replaced them because they were highly popular. I had a pair of those as well. (I’m a headphone geek!)
I was wondering why my right ear piece sounded lighter/weaker (used left plug)! I looked in my box and popped on the rubber stopper. Suttle but noticable difference and now they sound even! Thanks heaps!
Yes, it is designed to be used with the plug in but it’s not obvious from the paperwork. Testing them does show a frequency response difference with and without.
OK, but the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 32 Ohm is better (except for the cable exit trick). I'm sure there will be some who ax you: "but you cant feel da beets unless you have ..."
I've been using similar Sony headphones for a while. They are great except that after an hour or two your ears get tired. If the Rode's headphones don't have that problem, this is great news :)
@@BasicFilmmaker These ones? i think you forgot to insert the link or to mention the name of the speakers. In this video you have recommended the RODE headphones for video editing but i was asking for your opinion for standalone speakers without the use of headphones.
Be careful with those NTH-100 when ordering.... All to many people get inconsistent and downright faulty units. I straight up returned mine, they had over 4dB's of channel imbalance and very different bass in left/right. It seems Röde's QC (or actually the chinese subcontractor?) is VERY unstable. Not uncommon when going into a new product segment, unfortunately. An EXTREMELY consistent (and more neutral!) choice to consider in that 120-150$ price range is the old Philips X2-HR. They're best if you have a medium/small size head/ears though :)
Good point. They had a problem with the first batch of Wireless Go too (the internal mic would stop working), but they figured it out in the end. I do wish Rode and pretty much every other company did more quality testing before releasing a new product though.
