I don't think the coughing means a thing. I use the Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and after taking a sip of it, I was coughing a lot because of the pepper sensation. And I keep hearing how fake Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil is. Someone is lying, or everyone is lying.

Please advice, who's music is this? :) I think the sort of the olive is a great consideration too. Some olive oils are good for salad, some for pasta and vice versa.

Italy and Spain lost their credibility in all Europe when it comes to olive oil. Even today, you can see big supermarket chains advertising fake italian and spanish evoo as such and charge double. When outside Greece, I only buy Greek olive oil with the PDO label on it. I have YET to see PDO evoo on any supermarket in the EU countries I've been to. In fact, high quality Greek olive oil rarely travels farther from the Balkans due to limited availability and high local consumption.

Just saw a video with someone saying that the first cold press thing doesn't mean a thing, it's just a marketing gimmick. What is one meant to think! Any help out there?

The answer is Yes & No. Yes because if the temperature is raised above room temperature during pressing, the yield will be greater but the quality will be less. No because with new technologies there is no need to press/squeeze the fruit of the olive more than once - Vitina

Sicily, not known for the best oil. Prefer Tuscany or Umbria, northern Lazio isn't bad either.

Se parti con piante sane, un annata buona, il terreno buono, concime organico, delle varietà di olivo che crescano bene nel territorio, e una raccolta fatto a mano, l'olio viene buono sia un chilo o 1000 chili. Puoi se vince premie questo è un altro paio di maniche. Io vivo nel Chianti e abbiamo 200 piante. Dei anni è eccezionale e altri decente. E' cosi.

At first I thought I am watching a SNL skit....😀. Good information though but first cold press comment is misleading. I believe the press has change to special centrifuge decade or decades agp. Press is to squeeze out the leftovers from the first spin or extraction.

Unless you live in Italy and have access to a local olive oil producer, the Italian just the Spanish and Greek olive oil that are exported to here in the U.S are cut with cheaper oil, a mixture of difderent sources of olive, I recommend Californian olive oil or the Tunisian yellow black horse, if you think I am making this up, google all the scandals related to olive oil scams in European countries specifically Italy, I love italian products but unfortunately the mafia is controlling most what it's exported to us, mille Grazie.
