Half of the people here are thirsty, guys it's okay to compliment a girl. We appreciate it but not to the point wherein you go too far like "you have a sexy voice" "sexy as always" " I love you!" Please stop acting like its your first time seeing a girl, this is not meant to offend anybody, i am not a feminist, i'm just giving out friendly advice😊 peace everybody✌️
This is the chillest tech video I have ever seen. Her tone is so calm I feel like I am sitting on a park bench throwing bread crumbs for pigeons. Great tips by the way.
I have seen a lot of review and recommendation videos on smartphones, but this one really nailed it - very well put together and presented and I love that it is being kept all OS and vendor neutral! Angie really knows what she is talking about - very professional.
Refuse any form of glass housing on a mobile device! HERE IS WHAT MATTERS: Notification LED, illuminated hardware buttons, a camera lens that is made from glass and does not stick out from the rest of the housing, can lay flat on the table without wiggling, oleophobic screen glass, well readable screen outside, separate headphone jack, better 1 good camera than 2 mediocre ones, optical image stabilisation instead of bokeh mode, at least 4 Gb of RAM better 6 Gb, a powerful and loud speaker sound best with dual speakers, a noise cancelling microphone, a battery of 4000 mah or more, solid USB port that seats the cable easily but firm, included fast charger. And an extensive online community if you want support beyond the usual 18 months the vendor provides is invaluable. WHAT DOES NOT MATTER: Curved angles, thin body, no bezels, brand name, the lowest weight, dual cams for the most of budget phones are useless, rounded screen edges, face unlock, how thick are the antenna lines, fancy packaging.
This video needs to spread! Very helpful in nitpicking every aspect of a phone for consumers to decide what to buy. Aaand she's pretty so, it's a cherry on top 👌❤️
i bought in november 2017 a huawei mate 9. as a 1 year old phone still does a perfect job. 500 dollars price tag, big and awesome screen (doesn't bother me "only" full hd), pretty good camera(not a fan of cameras tho...in general), killer processor, 4 gb ram, 64 internal and up to 256 via sd card, option to use the sd card as an internal memory, IR BLASTER!!!! i love that, almost perfect sound, gestures are well implemented, insanely fast fingerprint reader, almost perfect package. the downside is the size of it, this can be difficult for one hand use, but i'm lucky. i have big hands and the "one handed mode" is just a swap away.
Angie, you're great at tech videos, it feels like something personal, unique, not just the average spec review we see in general. One thing that might help is to be more energetic and smile more often in front of the camera, you seem stressed and uncomfortable, but for a new person to youtube, it's good. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos by you at this channel in 2018.
I currently have a Moto g5 plus and I love all the features and it works fine for me, except for one thing: the speed. I think it has 2 GB ram and a 2ghz octacore processor but whenever I run Snapchat or Google chrome, it becomes really slow, even if no apps are open in the background. Any advice on how to speed it up? Great video by the way, thank you for making it!
Good job. I was able to see I may be looking for my "perfect" phone for some time. What I thought I would enjoy, turns out to be not so much. Better k ow before making the leap. Appreciate your delivery style. Thank you.
Thanks to you, I found a corresponding device to me. It's a MEIZU M6S, it has a good CPU (almost flagship exynos 7872) decent battery, screen, ram... and 18:9 display, and 100% charged battery in just 1h!!! All mettal, good camera, and just 130 euros...
Thanks for this Angie! I actually got myself the Moto X4 for Christmas, & I've been enjoying it so far. I got it after watching a few reviews, including yours. Thanks again!
Yash Raj it hasn't been too bad so far. One reason I got it was because it's another phone besides LG that does a wide angle 2nd camera. So far so good on my end.
finally a reviewer that doesn't get so into the specs and other real tech wiz.detail in the phone that i don't understand. To the point, simple and informative and very helpful i subcribes now. Also love your voice it's very calming and chill.
If you want people to sit through 9 and a half minutes of boring spec talk (in my case, mostly what I had already concluded from hours of browsing gsmarena), put Angie in front of the camera. Great job, gsmarena! I'm not complaining. :P
No comparison I am sticking with the LG G7 thinq that's thank you very much and it's the best phone I've ever had 19/5/9 aspect ratio with dual 16mp AI camera
Forewarning... Super long comment... Thank you. Unfortunately. I had learn all of this the expensive way. I have 20-10 vision. So the pixel density/and whether it being 1080p/4k does matter to me. I never took it into account when it came to phones though. I assumed sometimes you just can't can't escape the sun's glare. I also just realized that I should have focused more on finding a screen protector that protects against sun glares. I ended up going on without one. I just dropped my phone today and am now looking at a crack on the bottom right hand side of it. I can see it on screen a little too. *Sigh*. So much for that corning gorilla glass. (more like cornhole magilla glass 🤢 *cringe*) I was using a Trianium power pack/phone case too. My phone popped right of it...so again thank you for this video. I will definitely watch durability test videos before I make any purchases. I heard of the RU-vid channel "JerryRigEverything" is pretty good with demonstrations. I have big hands, but i am not a fan of long phones. I love phablets, but the way iPhone and Samsung are doing it. Just no thanks. Hopefully Huawei and Xiaomi are different. I also Hope not being able to move apps to SD cards isnt the case for later and the current spotlight Samsung phones... I'm still living with my s7 edge US version. My mistake was believing that adoptable storage would work with Android 6 at the time. I heard the device had the software hidden. I ended up doing the custom rom thing in order to bypass Samsungs restriction. All of that to later find out that adoptable storage makes your phone run slower because it's based off of the speed of the SD card... Makes sense. Your device is as face as its slowest component. And apparently the on board flash was faster than an SD card. (I think its speed 100 mb/s. To scared to check, it's currently in use and locked in with a custom rom). I am currently running Android 7 on this device and I still cannot move my apps over to the SD card. Probably because of the custom rom. I am not undoing it. For warning. Just because the version of Android running on your device is capable of of doing something like moving your apps over to the SD card, doesn't mean the brand or version of your phone's manufacturer software will permit it. 🤥I'm actually done with Samsung at this point. 😎The Huawei and Xiaomi phlablets have my attention now. I'll pay the extra buck for an import. Never been a fan apple. 🤥And Samsung has become a fad to me. 🤔Why are Samsung and Apple continously copying off each other... 😰Oh wait. Because Apple uses Samsung parts. 😲Oh no! look out! Samsung phones are getting longer, 🤔didn't Apple do that? I'm sure it was only because Apple jocked the phablet idea from Samsung..fucking ridiculous. The iPhone vs Samsung thing is a complete bs. Sorry. I noticed how Angie didn't want to trigger the IOS vs Android war. Thank you Angie and GSM. Sorry if I misspelled your name.
Law Butler 20/10 is your distance... That does not play a major role in your near vision ... Your focusing system, or myopic individuals would notice more then those who just can see 20/20, 20/15, or 20/10.. as your not holding your phone out twenty feet.
David B Thank you. The 20/10 vision I mentioned was an example of me having abover average eye sight regardless of what it means, it was used as an example. Myopia is an example of someone who is nearsighted, I am not (for things that fall in a 20 ft range). To further add hyperopia is an example of someone who farsighted, that I am also not, (for things that fall in a 20ft range.) I can focus my eyes on both far objects and near objects, as long as they fall within a 20 ft range. 🤔I think I have little while until I start experiencing presbyopia (trouble focusing on far away objects caused by the worn out or loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye due to aging). 🤔I could have added that info in comment but I didn't want to make longer than it already was. When the average person hears that you have 20/20 or 20/10 eyesight they would assume you have good or above average eyesight. Only eye doctors (oh, and I guess you too) care about all the other stuff. 😎And yes. I watch youtube videos on my phone from 20 feet away from myself. 😐Exactly 20 feet. Any further and I'd start experiencing hyperopia.🤗
Great video. I love GSM Arena website as well. And like you rightly said DO NOT ACCEPT phones with only 16GB or less of internal storage. You will pay the price sooner or later. Its still very common for apps to refuse to be moved to the external MicroSD card which can often lead to all sorts of problems. Now since Android 6.0 you can do the trick of using your MicroSD card as internal storage but this comes at the cost of flexibility as you are then not supposed to remove the MicroSD once Android treats it as internal storage and also it will be slower than if Android uses the built-in internal storage. Don't go cheap here, buy as much internal storage as possible. I have heard of horror stories of people with cheap Android phones suffering as their internal storage is full and they only had a few apps installed. And this can cause all sorts of issues when your internal storage fills up.
You don't have to swipe from all the way up- just swipe down from anywhere on the homescreen. (Oreo 8.0) And the you have that gesture with which you can shrink the screen! So you don't have to necessarily choose a small-sized for comfort and compromise on screen size for other purposes.
Any flagship nowadays are great. Even the one that is considered to be "worst flagship" would still be very good to people (just that they will demand for more and better). We have come to an age where we can no longer find a bad flagship phone. Except Apple.
OnePlus 5T is the best player but in camera iPhone X or Samsung Note 8 or mi mix 2 or Sony. And Iris scanner was first introduced by Microsoft's lumia 950 and it can work at any lighting conditions and with or without specs
Sony Sucks for cameras. Mi mix 2 even more. Pixel 2 has the best camera Followed by Iphone 8 (or X) Then Note 8 / S8 Then V30 Then Nokia 8 / Huawei 10 Thats IT when it comes to cameras, no matter what the paid press want you to believe. Check MKBHD's detailed camera comparison and see for yourselves.
I am using a refurbished LG G5 from ebay. Works great and have no problems with it. I have a habit of destroying phones. For about $90 refurbished it works great. I have a 128GB Samsung microSD, a screen protector, a generic case for the phone and and 2 after market batteries that give me 6990mAh. Total cost for all of this was $160 for all of it. Now I have a spare battery I can switch out if I need when I am traveling or don't want to worry about charging in the middle of some event. It may be a 3 year old phone, but it takes great pics, has 32GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM, dual rear cameras, a great display with 554ppi, wireless AC, USB 3.0 with quick charge 3. Sure it is not as fast as the flag ships, but it is decently fast. The OEM battery life is pretty terrible and you definitely need an aftermarket battery. But they are $11-12 each, so getting a spare is worthwhile. I use my cell phone for calls, texts, GPS, taking lots of photos and videos, a few apps, a chat app, and a few light games. I can easily have 6-7 apps open at the same time and have no problems or glitches. Refurbished phones that are a year or two old and just a generation behind are a great way to save a lot of money.
I was always comparing phones on gsmarena website from last 4 years. But today I got to know that they even have a RU-vid channel > Subscribed < . Like the official website this channel doesn't hold top position in search engines.
I used to have a Huawei Tablet in 2016, and it only has like 6.2 GB of internal storage. I was already satisfied by it. Today, my current phone has 32 GB and used 14 GB.
T Toughtask with the student program they have it's a pretty sweet deal. But nevertheless it's the best sort of cheap Android flagship out there. I had LG g2 mini before but LG devices are not good. Anyways thanks for your reply.
i have an ipad pro 10.5 and the 120hz ferfresh gimmick can really spoil you. I wish next year it could be available to smaller phones , awesome guide for choosing a phone
mario098mario i love everything about the xz premium, but the body is awful... Its 5.5 inch and i dont mind that but the problem is the phone body is too big plus the huge bezels.. I challenge u if u can put it in your pocket and if its comfortable on your hand.. I like the xz1 but the perfomance is not like xz premium :/
Kirin 950 and 955 are flagship's processors too. Why not included in the list? Of course we have te latest 960 and 970 but don't forget the 950. However great video guys, very useful. Keep it up😎😎😎
Thanks babe, I got myself Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 due to your guide. It may not as good as other's but it suit me well with less money spend. Great channel! Hitting that red button now :D
@1:29 There is no difference between needs and wants. It is just semantics. Without requirements there is no need and those requirements are subjective. Let alone that Chinese budget phones offer midrange qualities for budget pricing. If you choose slightly used 3 month old phones you increase your options significantly.
Wow! Thanks for the great video GSMArena team. It's really good to see some actually helpful videos on RU-vid. I'll keep those things in mind when I get my next phone. And Angie, you're great! Keep it up.👍
Paco M. Oronce Their skin might not look nice, but it's one of the smoothest and fastest of any Android phone. Moreover, it also doesn't slow down the phone or reduce the battery life too much over time; that's not something you can say about most Android phones. As far as the look is concerned, you can always download Nova Launcher and feel right at home (well! almost). The stock apps and the notification menu will be the only things you'll have to get used to.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm making a decision regarding a new device very soon. I appreciate everything you shared, & will definitely apply it. God bless!
Melbourne Dauz gsmarena rated it quite poorly considering its battery size. It's quite the u-turn (pun intended) from the U11, where a smaller battery gave great endurance. Also, different sites have started the screen is not very bright...
calangel you should check more sites if you want, but my overall experience is that the battery is great, and the screen is also great. I can see my screen perfectly on direct sun light. Using auto brightness all the time since past Summer. I should give you an advise. I do not recommend trusting on RU-vidrs because after all it's a business, where the money is what it matters.
ASUS Zenfone 3 ZE552KL 4GB ram/ 64GB internal is the best phone i could have with about US$285. Thanks to GSM arena to find it. Took me a whole week reading stuffs on internet, with most from GSM arena. I'm a geek so im looking for details, like sound quality, brightness, contrast, cam quality etc. Yes, i do need all of those, I mean it. People around me always saying you don't need good camera, but i always been using relatively good phone cameras from my old Samsung flip phone, and Blackberry Bold. So i has a bar for it already, but i cant break the price bar. *Samsung flip phone (or clam shell) i mentioned only had 2MP cam, but it captured pics better than regular camera at that time, even at night. Non android phone with AMOLED. Forgot the type, it advertised as the slimmest flip phone. 2Ghz x8 processor, three axis OIS, and single good camera lens of 16MP instead two mediocres at many Zenfone 4 or 5. Battery isnt the best and fast charging isn't really good but okay. The cleanup and battery management software included also magnificent. It prevents over and undercharging which is very important. And it also regularly updated with new features ! Issues i had with the phone (ZE552KL) were, fragile, slippery, and WiFi connectivity is a bit weak. But overall is good. Many people disliked the protruding lens at the back, but you know, compounded with the fragile issue. It actually has 1 solution that fix both of it; phone case, now the back is flat, the grip is nice, and actually last better than my dad's Oppo at the same price. ASUS even designed clock widget perfectly fit the phone with case as well. One thing didn't mentioned at the video is the support for the phone. ASUS is Taiwanese phone but the one i have is manufactured in Indonesia (my own country), so i could expect the service center would be stocked with spare parts. This phone been using Android 8 (Oreo), you need to update your page. You did an article about this but the main page hasn't been updated. www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_3_ze552kl-8106.php The software support of this phone is satisfying, this baby updates as regular as Windows 10. And with useful new features, so like better cleanup software, better game genie. IK not everyone like a software update, sometimes it will broke the phone even but gladly it didn't with ZE552KL. There was a problem when Oreo introduced, i had WiFi connectivity problem message as if it sends something to China. But it also happened to every other phones as well during that time. And it fixed now. *Game genie is video capturing program for android game. It also can capture your face as PIP and also your voice as it use the phone Mic. Up to 1080p recording or streaming. At the other hand i've experienced bad things with Xiaomi 4i (older phone tho), which unrecognized to my PC. This is silly because i need to flush all photo and other things there for storage. 16GB internal without SD card slot ! Even a cleanup only last a while until it is full again. The phone produced a lot of trash regularly, from logs, double of pictures, update files, etc. There were cases i found 3 copies of a picture under the hood. Tried developer mode, installing PC software (tried both international and Chinese version provided at the phone), using good cable (i have 2 original cables for it), and it didn't work. It is frustrating. I will not buy a phone without decent support like that anymore. Maybe latest Xiaomi did well idk but, id stay away from it for a while. The Chinese PC software have more options than international version, so it might be one sold for Chinese market and somehow my dad bought it. Kinda shame, since i think i like the diminutive size of the phone, lightweight, pastel casing, and its cartoony display color.
Edhi Kurniawan Theres a bunch of issues, that Im gonna get to, but this is the phone I want. I want a phone that has a 6.3 inch or 5.7 inch, OLED, 7680×4320P 650PPI Pixels Per Inch, 16:9 Aspect Ratio, Removable Graphine Battery with a runtime of 1 week, without charging or 5days, the phone should also be Waterproof ,Micro SD Card, Expandable Up to 1TB, 8GB or 16GB of RAM, Chipset Qualacomm Snapdragon 845, CPU Octa-Core KRYO 385 GPU Adreno 630, Camera Dual 7K cameras, image stabalazation. Fingerprint reader NFC/Wireless Charging Fast Charging, 15 mins from 0% to 90%. The problem for me, and I hope other people/consumers as well/ I hope I'm not the only one noticing how bad phones are now days, in some ways, software in allot of ways, has gotten allot better, when it comes to optimization/specs needed to run android smoothly, and in some other ways, but hardware/design ideas/solutions, is a whole other disaster/problem The other problem is inovation/there hasn't been a real upgrade in a long time, yes chipsets have gotten better, but resolutions in screens haven't, also allot of downgrades have happened as well, due to other issues, such as trying to make phone bezels/phone footprints smaller. The Note 4 was the last real good/upgraded phone. The phone industry/builders/manufactures have made so many mistakes since 2014, I honestly don't know where to start. I was hoping for an amazing phone by now, but to be honest, my TVs display is better than my phone. I never thought I would be able to say that. The way things used to be/should still be, is your phone should have a better resolution/screen, than your tv. My tv is 4k now, but my phone is not, my phone should be 6k, at the least, by this point, but if it followed tradition/ the way it should be, it would be 8k. When I had a 720p/1280x720p, 16:9, this is a normal resolution, and aspect ratio as well, we will get to that crazyness as well, point being is, when I had a 720p tv, I had a 1080p/1920×1080p, 16:9 aspect ratio phone. When I had a 1080p tv, I had a 2560x1440p 16:9 phone. The point here is your phones display should always be a step ahead/a higher resolution than your TV. Now were almost, at a point of no return, for phones, reason being is, because developers are starting to compensate/fix phone manufactures problems, through software, this is a bad sign, because when things like this happen, this makes these new crazy aspect ratios and resolutions a standard, and this also conflicts with other devices that are designed and built properly, not just phones, but also desktops, laptops, and tv screens/video viewing, hopefully, and I think they already have to an extent, but developers/coders/programmers, will help to prevent this from being an issue, allowing you to change resolutions and aspect rations, through software/apps/OSs/Operating Systems and so on, but this should still not even be an issue at all. Heres the issue, and this is where it stemed/started, manufactures wanted to make slim phones, theres nothing wrong with that, if the task/vision/idea is done properly/right. Phone manufactures found out the hard way, that batteries are a certain size, and theres room/space inside phones/cases/housings for a reason, and this isn't just with batteries, computers/hardware need to breath/be ventalated/be below a certain temprature. The result of this stupidity was batteries started blowing up, and catching fire. This was just there frist mistake, it gets worse, then phone manufactures decide to alter the demention of phone screens, and I think allot of other features got stripped out, because of this as well. SD card slots, started being removed/not offered, batteries were no longer removable in allot of phones, also manufactures started stripping out some of the mah in there batteries, to make the battery thinner, MAH, is Mili Amp PerHour, the more the MAH the longer the battery life. This was just the tip of the iceburge/the beginning of the problem, a phone should have 4,000 MAH, at this point, or more like 6,000MAH, that would be amazing; Also removable batteries allow for battery replacement, in the event of failure/a dead battery, or if you want to buy an aftermarket battery with more MAH/Mili Amp PerHour, to get better battery life, or to bring spare batteries, to switch out; Also expandable storage/micro sd cards are a must have, prime example, I have 578 books on my phone, music, movies, you can't fit that on onboard storage, my books alone are 4GB, plus its good for an OS/Operating System to have its own drive/Hardrive/SSD/Flash Memory, for the most part/as much as possible. So basically every phone since the note 4 has been a downgreade, because of this. Now this is where even more problems start, phone manufactures decide to make phones taller, but less wide in some applications/uses this is good, like a great example surfing the web/reading, because the phone is taller you see more on screen, but the huge down fall is video, and the aspect ratio. When you watch videos your not able to utilize your screen anymore, because, who would have thought, videos aren't shot in that resolution/aspect ratio, so now you aren't able to utilize/use all of your screen, you paid for, so now, not only did they downgrade phones, but they cut allot of your screen relastate out/ now you have black bars on the side of your phone, where the rest of the video used to show/still does on a device/screen that has a 16:9 aspect ratio, abd a normal resolution, such as 1280x720p,1920x1080p, 2560x1440p, 3840x2160, and so on. So Basically all of these phone manufactures did all of these crazy things, instead of addressing the obvious problem, technology has out grown current battery technology, so the obvious answer is changing the battery technology used in smart phones, a battery is power, the consumer, nor the phone isgonna care about how it gets power, as long as it does, also changing the battery isn't gonna alter how the device works/all the device wants is power, Granted if we started using ghraphine/graphite batteries, we could use allot less material, to generate the same amount of power, which is your actual problem, meaning now you could have a really thin battery, that generates more power or the same amount, but has a much smaller footprint/no more catching fire; Technically you could do either one or both, create a battery that is thinner than a lithion battery, and is also more powerful/can power devices for longer. The answer is the battery, not stripping off parts of the phone/downgrading the phone/changing screens/aspect ratios, and dementions. Phone Manufactures need to wake up. Phone Manufactures have been holding technology/the world back for years now/since 2014, its not something to be proud of.
prince kumar it is a Samsung case. Just to to their website to find it. It is quite expensive for a case that doesn't have great protection though, just a heads up.
oh this vid was super helpful^^ Seriously, i was lost choosing a new phone but now i at least have a basic idea of what to look for. I used to think "if i get the newest phone it'll last the longest", and it worked back 5-10 years ago, but now it's just not that true.
224wwefan Not very modest (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`), asshole! I already knew I needed help, I just can’t get any....Anyways, who said that you could call me a bitch, Jackass!
