Hi, This is possible. The angle recommanded might be between 10° and 30°. Regarding the size of the tip, you'll have to check with your paint supplier. Kind regards, Airless Discounter team

I want to paint exterior trim ( side of roof) but my tip is 517 is to wide I need a tip more like 4" for the exterior trim what tip do you recommend?. I have a graco x7 sprayer.

Hi Fernando, for trim - 210, 310 fine finish spray tips are normally used. If you don't have fine finish tips and depending on the material perhaps start with a 315. We wrote an in-depth article here too to help you: www.airless-discounter.de/news/ultimate-airless-spray-tip-guide/

Hi, Thanks for your comment. The size will depend on the requirements from your state. But it will be easier to choose as less tips sizes are made and 2 types exists mostly depending on your machine. Further more, always start by checking the paint data sheet to find out which size you need. @@AirlessDiscounter i`m just getting into spraying but they seem analagous to brushes, i know their are loads of different types but i could see themed kits being useful. Also, as tips are either heavy (e.g 519) or lite (513) i think of moving from relatively small to a relatively large orifice at a given fan size as moving from a short pile to a long pile roller. A 519 is heavy but a a 1019 is relatively light, it would be nice if tips where labeled 'lite, medium, heavy' because its not always obvious if for example a 210 or a 515 puts down more paint per second per unit area being sprayed. I suppose this dosent matter after you have been doing it a while as you just have the tips that you like but for someone new it would be useful.

I am not sure why he makes the time l size so complicated, obviously his description of the last two numbers is not but his explanation of the first number is not accurate based on gracos explanation.graco clearly states the first number is multiplied by 2 tk give you the fan width when held 12 inches away from the surface.moving from inches to cm in his comparison is ridicules stick with one unit if measurement would be alot more practical.he may be right but it's a bit confusing for those who just want to paint.
