When we buy a vintage watch, in many cases the box will be in poor condition. If the case is made of steel, it can be polished to remove scratches, in case the case is chrome, if the chrome is destroyed, there is no other alternative than to remove and replace it.In this tutorial we will learn the electrolytic processes by which we can remove the old chrome and replace it with a nickel plating that will restore its shiny or matt silver appearance (as desired).
To carry out we will only need:
Water
White vinegar
Salt
A nickel electrode
A 15 cm piece of copper tubing
A 4.5 to 12v power supply that can supply at least one amp (can be done with batteries).
Discs and polishing paste (I recommend the green one).
It is not much material and in exchange it will not give many moments of distraction and a clock that will come back to life being almost unique among others.
A greeting.
