The Karcher K5 Home and Car kit has all the right kit for cleaning your car. In this video I demonstrate my approach and provide advice if you wish to clean your car with a pressure washer.
😎I think you may have been born to produce video tutorials sir. Great advice delivered in a no nonsense manner and overall extremely watchable. When I opened the box for my new Karcher K5 I was quite annoyed at the fact that "some assembly was required" and a glance at the instructions had me headed straight for the internet to see if there were any videos showing step by step, dreading the experience as so many videos are so hard to watch. Imagine my surprise and pleasure when I came across the three wonderful videos you produced on how to assemble and use the K5 properly. One would assume you work for the BBC on a professional production, so informative yet entertaining and done at a pace that was just perfect to follow, not rushed through or moving at a snails pace and frustrating me into skipping anything to get to the point. In addition to the task I bought the K5 for, I am now itching to try it out on my car and driveway too. Thankyou so much Peter.
I tell you what Peter, its about time you got "discovered" by a proper TV company because your presenting style is absolutely superb. Quintessentially English with proper manners :-) Keep it up young man, I'll probably end up buying whatever it is you're demonstrating!!
Personally I love this video. To all the haters, Peter is a real person, he has interests other than woodworking, it makes his other videos more relatable. Maybe i'm not the ideal audience, but I haven't watched a New Brit video in a while, then this popped up on my suggestions, i had to see what Peter was up to.
Hi Steffen, Thank you so much. I don't quite understand why people who do not want to watch the video can't guess the content from the title but they still click on it and then leave rather pointless remarks. Cheers. Peter
It's hard to put into words how much I enjoy your approach to your channel and how useful it is for so many of us. I hope you never feel bad about people not getting the exact wood working video or whatever they where expecting. Your stuff is always useful to so many Peter, keep it up and thanks for the video. As mentioned in your previous K5 video, I do have that machine and, as it happens, I have a horrifyingly dirty car as well - so this is a very nice reminder to deal with that, using said machine. Thanks!
Hi Christian, Perhaps some of these people don't bother to read the title or were expecting me to re-apply the veneer on the internal trim ! Cheers. Peter
You, sir, are an absolute delight. Just got this pressure washer, and I've been watching your videos to get familiar with it. Thank you so much for your time and effort here
Hi Peter, just to say I thoroughly enjoy your videos and look forward to each new one. I found the one about weatherproofing garage doors very useful as I was facing a similar situation. Thanks for what you do, long may you enjoy making them.
Hi Peter, just wanted to say thank you for making this video, it's always great to see an out of the ordinary video from you. Having such an inventive mind it's interesting to see your approach to these kind of tasks, I always learn something new and makes me feel like I need to slow down, take my time and think about the task in hand a little more. If these other "moaners" can't understand that they simply need to skip it, the thumbnail and title is a bit of a give away as you say! Keep it up Peter, Nick.
Hi Nick, I really appreciate your support and I agree - it is not as though I am making people sit down to watch it and you are right - the clue is in the title. Cheers. Peter
Hi Peter, just bought a Karcher k5 pressure washer. Looking forward to cleaning my slabs with the special circular washing supplied with my karcher. Used to own a karcher, as yourself ended gifting it to my daughter as we had a small pressure washer gifted to us. Big mistake, or not as bought the K5 with the attachment. It took me over an hour to wash 8 slabs with the small one, so looking forward to using the karcher to finish the patio and footpath. Thankyou for your instructions to put it together and instructions cleaning slabs. Very very clear and discriptive. Good job as we didnt receive instructions or guarantee with our new pressure washer. Will contact Karcher. Great video for cleaning the car.
Hi Maureen, Yes, it is important to support the daughters ! The original K2 is still working well but the K5 is a big step up and can tackle bigger jobs than the K2. Do read some of the comments on the car cleaning video as some viewers have, I think rightly, provided some advice on the method. Good luck. Cheers. Peter
So helpful, thank you. I’ve just bought a Karcher, but only used it on the paving so far. I couldn’t get the top off the paving cleaner either! I think I’m older than you, so that must be it! I’ve got the foam, but clearly need a brush too - thanks for the tip!
As always, an informative video. I use a similar method for my car to minimise the strain on my arthritic wrists and fingers - a legacy of a career as a marine biologist with my hands forever in cold seawater. I also live in area with exceptional hard water (high calcium carbonate content), so even brushing off with clean tap water still leaves stubborn water marks, especially on glass. In the past I have had to resort to polishing these out, negating most of the benefits of pressure washing. However, a few months ago I came across a very useful tip on Graeme Pullen’s TA fishing channel, describing his lockdown distraction activities, where he finished of washing his car by rinsing it with clean rainwater from a watering can and just giving the windows a wipe with a chamois leather. I have since tested this approach and found it to work well, though I would add an important caveat, i.e. only take water from the top of the rainwater butt or tank so as to avoid the sludge in the bottom which may be gritty, particularly if the water is collected from a modern tiled roof
i live in hard water area but use an outside tap that is fed from my water softener, so no water spots. alternatively you could feed the pressure washer from a water butt. karcher sell the accessories for this. no need for watering can!
@@NewBritWorkshop you are very good! even retired work that you've been doing on RU-vid is admirable, I'm a big fan of your work, thank you very much Peter 🙏
Quick tip if you snowfoam first when the car is dry the foam will stick to the dirt if you snowfoam when it’s wet it will just run off on top of the water. The karcher k5 is a great jet wash
Thank you for this very helpful video. I have just bought a K5. I was a little unsure from your video the difference between using the bottle of shampoo turned upside down on the machine and using the dispenser bottle on the end of the gun? Would you mind clarifying the difference in usage? Many thanks, Stuart.
Hi Stuart, The bottle on the end of the gun is for the super foam whereas the bottle in the machine is for the regular shampoo. I rather like the super foam application. Peter
Dear Sir, First of all, I am happy to see your videos and thankful to you for making such knowledgeable video. Could you please answer me... About difference between Karcher K4 Power Control and K4 Premium Control. Please do help! It's my humble request to you. I am in very need of Karcher K4 OR K5. What is the main difference between Karcher K4 OR K5. Kind Regards, Basavaraj from India. 🙏
Hi Basavaraj, There are many different combinations of kit depending on the package. For the best insight look at this page from the Karcher web site: www.kaercher.com/uk/home-garden/pressure-washers.html Good luck, Peter
Hi Paul, We had to sell our Hymer when we moved house and I now feel very sorry for the people that bought it as Covid came along about 9 months later. Cheers Peter
Hi The only problem i have with this video is when you say put high pressure on the car this can actually take paint off if its high Pressure done this once and it tookl of the lacquer on the car but overall your video is very informative
I do say that if ANY manufacturer wants to get the highest sales; they NEED for their salesmen to study this video to the "nth" degree; and USE it. Because I believe there is no other method that is as good as what "our" Mr Peter Parfitt exudes. Oh indeed yes. May he and his. be blessed always.
Great video Peter. I notice the handle of the karcher is up. How do you lower the handle once you've finished with the pressure washer. I can't seem to lower mine.
Love your videos on woodworking but don't see the connection to this other stuff. Am ordering a part system. Being in the US it took me a while to decide if I wanted to go 20mm or 3/4" dog holes. Having taught the metric measuring system to many US companies when it was starting to grow in the 70's and 80's I decided to go with the 20mm holes and embrace the metric system for my work.
Obviously my spell checker doesn't like the word Parf and decided I really wanted to use the word part. Bad spell checker! Sorry for the incorrect spelling of your marvelous invention.
Hi Larry, I am just an ordinary guy and I will make a video about anything that I do that I think may help someone else - this time it might not be you but my last pressure washer video has had over 500,000 hits and now helps to subsidize my woodworking. Good luck with the PGS. Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop Ordinary would not be the first thing that comes to mind when I think of you. I think extraordinary comes more to mind. I can appreciate a development of something like the Parf system. Trying to type thos on a tablet with big hands is not an easy task so I sometimes hit the wrong key.
As a car detailer you have alot to improve on, if that car was black you'd soon throw that brush away and never go anywhere near paint with it again. Firstly you should always start with wheels as you did, then apply snow foam to a dry car for the soap to soften and lift the dirt with lubrication then you pressure wash it all off and then only then you go in with a contact wash with a good quality mitt NOT a brush that will absolutely maul your paint. You should always aim to remove as much dirt as possible before you contact wash reason being is you're dragging the dirt across your paint, hence why you snow foam first then pressure wash your car effectively giving you as clean a surface as possible to make contact with when going in with a mitt!
Everyones a car ‘detailer’ now 😂😂 the guy is demonstrating the pressure washer! He isn’t ‘detailing’ a Porsche you melts! Get back to your ‘detailer/car wash’ job and leave the man alone.
Hi Kenneth, It is okay and it came with the Car&Home kit but the wide, non rotating brush is better. The real problem with the rotating brush is that it is too small - other than that it has soft bristles and works as Karcher claim. Peter
Hello, wanted to ask about brush. I decided to buy one after your advice wb150 and I also visit the store to touch the brushes and check if they are not so rough. There was the same brushes that you use in this video. And it seemed for me like they are a little too rough for a car paint, or it is okay?
Just follow this link and look at the accessories near the bottom: www.kaercher.com/uk/home-garden/pressure-washers/k-4-premium-power-control-car-home-13241360.html Peter
I'm afraid I'm with the others on not using brushes anywhere near a car. Your paint will have swirl marks all over it. But what really intrigued me was the advice not to point the washer at parking sensors. Surely (on an autobahn, obviously) a car with a high top speed traveling in excess of 150mph (or higher) will suffer significantly more pressure on the sensors than the Karcher will deliver? And in the rain it will be high-pressure water hitting the car too at those speeds.
Hi Connor, I don't suppose you would take a car through a car wash but those brushes are far gentler than a car wash. On the parking sensors, I see your point but I think that the high pressure and concentrated volume of water would be more damaging than rain at autobahn speeds. Perhaps pressure washer manufacturers have to protect themselves a bit too. Cheers. Peter
Hi Phil, It is planned but I had some other urgent work to complete for a friend of mine - I had promised to help a while ago but on top of that we have been doing some major work in the garden before the new growth starts. Cheers. Peter
If my car had not been washed and looked like that after one year it’d go another year before being considered for a wash, but then I live in Australia where water is a premium. Interesting series
Hi Newton, We have had a busy year and car washing was not top of the agenda. Between you and me my car looks better now than it did when we bought it. Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop Hi Peter, that’s true but you would be better with a microfibre wash mit and two buckets with grit guards in them. It’s just so it doesn’t damage the clearcoat on the paint.
watch a few car detailing videos and put those brushes in the bin. for the amount of damage you are potentially doing to your clearcoat, your best off leaving the dirt on.
If your car was full of crap on the roof you'd have to start from the top to the bottom. Otherwise all the dust and sand and whatever it is on the roof will end up all over the whole car anyway. You starting up from the bottom then up would result in you having to wash again.
Im 65 and found it a bit patronising, so i assume you've aimed it at older folks that rarely wash their own cars. So sorry, but its buckets and sheepskin mitt after the snow foam, then dry off. Nice, clear and precise though.👍
I understand that true car lovers are perfectionists and I respect that. For me if Karcher make a tool for a job then I expect it to not damage the paintwork. Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop its not the tool thats damaging the paintwork (clearcoat) its the amount of dirt and grit that is still on the paint that does the damage.
The problem with any item you use is that there is a danger of scratching especially from cloths and sponges which get bits of grit lodged in their fibre.
Bad quality. Mine stopped working after few years. With little use. I have cared for it all the right ways. Very expensive, happy in the beginning, angry and sad now.
I can't understand. So if you think you have good advices for your next apple pie, or lawm mowing, this will end up in a video? I watched a lot of your woodworking videos, and liked it, learnt a lot. I'm sorry to tell, but with videos like this, you lower the overall quality of your woodworking series. I wouldn't trust a woodworking video from a car washer specialist. So, I don't see the point. Don't take it personally, but you should really stick to what you master, high quality woodworking.
Just skip what you do not want to see rather than wasting your time commenting - I will not change and will continue to support as many people with as many interests as I can. Peter
Surely it’s reasonable for Peter to have another interest other than Woodworking? The title is in the video, it’s not like he advertised it as “How to do dovetail joints” and then you got a car washing video. It’s Peters channel he can put on whatever he likes - you’re not forced to watch it or even pay for it!
