This was exactly what I was looking for. I drained old gas from my generator and it left rusty sludge in the tank. I’ll definitely give this a try! Thank you!!
That was the most impressive pure! Hats off to you man. God knows every time I put fuel in the mower half spills out… some would say that extra is a sacrifice we make to our lawn god, Hank Hill. 🤣😂
Yeah if I was your neighbor I'd be kindly talking with you in the morning! Good job on the generator. I found on those types of generators that removing the gas tank pencil filter and installing an in hose filter is better. Also POR-15 makes a gas tank sealant to keep it from rusting again. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings.
Unlike most gas cans with ‘safety valves’, this one is EASY to operate ru-vid.comUgkx6IImIpPboNrtVJSROnpF9EnyBzRrJKP_ with one hand. Nudge the tab and press the thumb button (all with your thumb) and you’re filling your tank. I bought this to use with a pressure washer that needs frequent refilling and it’s been a blessing compared to most of the ‘safety cans’ being sold. ergonomic and easy to handle.
Good technician this Immortal Engines dude. Video is very to the point which is what most people want. I truly enjoyed it and like I said, this dude is smart. Important to make sure the thing will run before you start to invest time and money into it.
You can put a clean stainless chain in the tank and shake it around to break free any crud as well. Hard part is flushing enough to get all the debris out afterwards.
Like the chain tip. For debris removal, I've used an old dishtowel to soak and wipe gas off bottom of tank and let it open to dry overnight. About to use misc. brushes to knock remaining scale loose then use a shop vac before reinstalling fuel pump and adding some ethanol free. Going to do a thorough cleaning later when I drop the tank and flush the lines, but just want to preserve against further decay and get the car running enough to drive it to my shop.
If you have a rusty tank on your generator ive found it easiest to cut an 8x8 sauare hole in tank right on top... This gives a nice hole with which you can easily acces all areas of the tank. Then i use a gritted sanding sponge to clean and strip the tank... Then i use a liquid type liner. Then i cut a 10x10 piece of heavy gauge sheet metal to cover the 8x8 hole 2 inches all around but first i outline the hole with weather stripping to seal the tank of fumes then i use self tappers on the 10x10 sheet metal...its not like yur ever gonna use it upside The next best method of cleaning rust from a rusty tank is to use about an 8 or 10 foot piece of chain just chunk it the tank then (when the wifes not around) i wrap the tank in a blanket then i duct tape some old cushions/pillows/ foam and put it in the dryer and let it tumble for an hour and during that hour repostion the setup so it cleans evenly on all sides9... Small edgy steel chain works best not too light not too heavy then clean up the evidence before mama gets home
My generator would not run with the choke off, open. I cleaned my carburetor four or five times. I also used Muratic acid in the gas tank, and it still didn’t work. Purchased a new gas tank, which didn’t fit. I realized there are only four things that need cleaning. The gas tank, the shut off valve, the hose and the carb. After seeing this video I went to O’Reilly auto parts and purchased Evapo Rust, Poured about a half a gallon in the tank and let it sit for four hours. After messing with it for over a month I finally got it to run with the choke off.
The least costly is regular grocery store vinegar . Fill the tank up to the top . Leave it for one week . Thoroughly rinse out the tank with really hot water . Turn tank upside down and point a hair dryer inside , leave it for 30 to 40 minutes .
I have the same generator Homelite HG3500 series u just worked on I bought a new carburetor for it and gas just leaks through it. Cleaned the needle nothing any helpful ideas would be much appreciated thank you awesome show. Wow same as mine I too cleaned my tank with your product suggestion came out like new just needed a cleaning a little, but came out perfectly cleaned.
Hi tony can you be more specific as of where the gas is leaking out of? is it overflowing? have you tried cleaning the old cab instead? also don't forget to subscribe!
Immortal Engines Thank you for your timely correspondence. I just went to the unit and turned the gas valve on and in looking it coming out of the first brass fitting looking down past the choke. Gas is flowing up out of the top. 😟
good stuff! have the same problems with a Ford 1910 diesel tractor. The petcock valve was very packed with rust debris and the tank had all manner of small rust. Will be trying in few hours to accomplish what you did. I am also replacing the fuel filter, and all rubber hoses since all are in deterioration or have small amounts of junk in them.
I don't know why these manufacturers still build steel fuel tanks. Some even engineered the machines to make the removal of the fuel tank necessary to replace the filter. Punch the tank filter with a nail or drill bit and install an inline filter. Another thing that I do after cleaning a tank is to push a few magnets really close to the tank fuel exit. Just in case there's any rust particles still floating around or if any rust develops later. More likely to stick to the magnets than clog up the filter. I also put about a tablespoon of Deep Creep in the full tank. Greatly slowing evaporation and lightly oils the steel. No,it doesn't smoke. Cleans your carburetor with use as well.
That explanation of gas tanks and how you can’t ever find em is why you should buy a name brand generator if you’re looking for one. Honda, Yamaha are amazing, Generac isn’t bad.
I agree that both Honda and Yamaha are the best generators out there, but unless the user is planing to put a ton of hours of use on the generator the cheapo brands are ok as long as they are well mantained.
One of the BEST ways to clean a rusty fuel tank is with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) abrasive with carbon dioxide as a propellant for safety. Many blasting shops do this daily. You DO need to "de-goop" the sludge and and sticky varnish from the tank with a solvent before taking it to a blasting shop (or doing it yourself). 50 years ago, there was a "gas tank shop" about 6 miles north of me than used to BOIL out the tetraethyl lead crystals and the varnish that formed in gas tanks. They also would cut them open with a torch(!!!) to remove the huge lead crystals that could form when gas sat for years. Then they'd BURN out the sludge and varnish and gum. If someone "sugared" your gas tank, they could clean it out instead of replacing it like today. OK, I'm 70, and worked at a service station pumping gas as a teen-ager, and my friends had "good ol' cars" that had to be worked on as much as they were driven. My 1958 Chrysler Imperial was the RELIABLE car of everybody's in 1969 when I got my license!
Hi! I just subscribed 😊😊 I was given a generator that the gas tank is filled with a whiye kind if Sandy powder....all the way up. So I hope you can give me advice. I thpught about using a vacuum cleaner and then do what I did to test if it works with the bottle and house. Im just concerned if there is a line that will suck gas wich is going to ne full of Sandy power. Can you help me with some advice? Thank you!
unbolt the tank remove valve at the bottom remove cap get as much out as possible through the cap hole then rinse with water through the small hole to get the rest.
I have a generator that won't output out any voltage unless I flash it first, then it works fine. But if I shut it off, I have to flash it again to get voltage. Is there some way of not having to flash it every time?
Yes sounds like you capacitor on the voltage regulator has gone bad and doesn't hold any residual power to help the coils get "exited" the voltage regulator i located at the back of the generator itself. feel free to send pictures to my email immortalengines91@gmail.com
Probably white vinegar...try soaking a rusted up tool, like channel locks, adjustable wrench , for 24 hours, then wipe down tool and lubricate with a penetrating oil. Your welcome!
Thanks Buddy But the Problem is This Particular Evapo -Rust Is not available So give some easy home made solutions Like use of Viniger or something like that Great
Look into using Oxiliac acid to treat the corrosion, it's cheap and works within minutes! You can buy it in a concentrated salt form, add a small amount to hot water In a spray bottle, spray it on wait about two minutes then spray in out with fresh water and a little baking soda to neutralize it, then immediately dry and apply your corrosion inhibitor of choose.
I am really surprised looking at the filler cap area that's still the same rusty look Even though evapo was poured Right thru there But the inside looks nicer Strange
Did that evapor - rust product smell like white vinegar ? Vinegar will loosen rust up as well. If you have some rusty tools, adjustable wrenches ect , allow to soak 24 hours submerged. Come back and wipe tools off...they'll work then Lube with WD-40, or whatever you want.
After I rinse my auto gas tank from vinegar and apply baking soda what should I apply after to prevent flash rusting and future rust that won’t hurt the fuel after I put it back on and fill up?
@@immortalengines1605 By using red Kote it eliminates the chance of rust ever returning in the future. Even if the gas evaporates....it will leave a white flaky residue. But no rust. Just pour gas and rinse. No rust. Look it up here. One can of the stuff can cote about 4-5 tanks.
He probably bought a new tank.....tried this on two metal boat tanks and there was only minimal improvement. It may work if all that was present was a few flakes and some flash rust. Store your tanks full to the top people!
