Thanks for all the views, if I had known in advance that this video would get so many views, I would have put more effort into better recording quality. I'm considering to create a better version including your feedback and missing information based on the comments received.

Hi, I like to give a HUGE thank you to you. This DIY video helped me alot when I was fixing my aircon yesterday. My aircon was leaking for awhile then I stumbled upon your video and you gave such a great and informative tutorial. For me it took the entire day yesterday as I always went through trial and error but your video helped me alot especially when the country is under lockdown and I cant call for service. Now my airconditioner is running well and not leaking anymore. So again thank you very much!

Our air conditioners are the same. One minor difference is the steps on how to disassemble and assemble it together. Apart from that, it is helpful. Thanks.

Great tutorial, man! Keep up the good work! I just have two recommendations. First one is to switch off the breaker for the AC from the control box. Second is to clean the radiator as well. This and the turbine are the two main mold collectors. You can use an industrial degreacer, works like a charm. Just don't let it sit on the aluminum radiator for more than a few minutes and rice it well with some water. Hope this helps you and everyone else.

Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ru-vid.comUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

Before washing the parts I find it best to use a vacuum with the long bristle brush attachment to remove the majority of the dust first. Depending on how well the vacuuming is done there may not be a need to wash the parts.

Reinhard, many thanks!! Haven't done it yet, but at least now I have instructions. 🙏 You mentioned using Stetol (or similar sounding) spray. For disinfection. Is that specific for aircons? (It just came to mind that a specific about aircons is that whatever you spray on those surfaces also gets into the air that's blown out of the Aircon later, so probably needs to be safe for inhalation) Thanks again!

It was a very spontaneous idea to record it as I thought it might be helpful for others - I struggled to find online a tutorial on how to open and clean my aircon unit model. Hi. It can be the blower wheel. You can try if it helps to loosen the screw, readjust, tighten the screw again and see if the rotation is balanced.
@dusopn

Hello, please how long it takes for such a mold to grow in the unit? Does cleaning it once a year professionally prevent this or is this on your video one year worth of growth? Did you use Nanoe feature much? I thought this should prevent it too. Thank you!
@ReinhardB
@ReinhardB 2 года назад
Hi. In my case it took less than 6 months to have this amount of dirt and mold. I also have to mention that this unit was turned on mostly every night as it is in the bedroom. The Nano feature was always on.
@dusopn
@dusopn 2 года назад
@@ReinhardB wow, thank you for this fast and good information. I am deciding on what brand of ac to buy, and this makes me wonder about actual performance of the Nanoe feature, if it clearly doesn't break down pathogens well enough. Does the unit not dry itself after cooling, to prevent moisture inside too?
@ReinhardB
@ReinhardB 2 года назад
@@dusopn In my opinion it's worth to choose the aircon unit with nanoe technology, but in my case staying directly at the sea and having the bathroom also next door the humidity was also very high and still the aircon was dry some time after turned off.
@dusopn
@dusopn 2 года назад
@@ReinhardB It seems like manufacturers recommend weekly dry out by blower fan, in humid conditions. I think some sell it as "auto clean". Yet, after seeing this video, I am considering if Nanoe X is a priority, or maybe I should go with some units which can freeze wash itself. If the Hydroxyl can't keep the unit clean, not sure about rest of the room. Did you notice better air quality with nanoe on?
@ReinhardB
@ReinhardB 2 года назад
I can’t tell if the air quality is better. I have not a comparison as I moved to the apartment already with this aircon installed.

I have a weird problem after the cleaning (following all your steps) - the AC turns on, all lids are moving fine, the fan is rotating without normally, nothing different than the normal work of the AC. But after few minutes I realized that the fan is just rotating and not blowing anything. You can feel the radiator is heated up a lot, the air around the fan is hot. But it is not blowing it outside. I unplugged and plugged again the AC, switched of and on several times - no change. I took photos on every step and I have one with the exact spot of the thermal sensor on the radiator. I put it back then. I cannot find out why it is not blowing. Can you give me an advise what to check ?
@ReinhardB
@ReinhardB 5 месяцев назад
Hi. Did you try out if the behavior is the same with different settings (e.g. change to low temperature and fan speed manually set)? Based on your explanation I’m sure you checked carefully that everything is in order. Another possible reason that the unit may be low on refrigerant, and this is a problem that needs to be left to the professionals. I’m also no professional that’s why I would suggest to maybe call a aircon service company for advice?
@flamake69
@flamake69 5 месяцев назад
@@ReinhardB Thank you for the quick answer. I tried with several different settings, auto temperature, just fan circulation. It makes all the right noises, but still doesn't start blowing air. The only thing that comes to mind is that we used a hot steam to remove the mould behind the radiator. Could the hot stem harm the pipes and cause leakage or some kind evaporation of the freon gas. It will be super stupid for us, but at least I will stop wasting time on seeking what is this weird problem.
@flamake69
@flamake69 5 месяцев назад
There is a little development on my case - If I set the AC to COOL and set a temperature lower than 18, after few minutes it starts blowing a light flow. The fan in the outside unit start rotating fast and it seems that the AC works fine. But when I put it on HEAT, no matter what temperature 18-26 I set - it refuses to blow. At least I know the outside fan is OKay and the problem is somewhere else.
@flamake69
@flamake69 5 месяцев назад
I forgot to inform you, I managed to fix my AC. The big problem was caused by a loose bolt, which tightens the rotating plastic shaft behind the radiator. Obviosly the AC has some protection if this bolt is loose in order to prevent big damages. If the bolt is loose it can't spin fast enough and then stops the spinning. I just randomly decided to tighten this bolt and .... the miracle happened ... it started blowing right away, like never there was a problem at all. It is an absolutely weird solution, but this turned out to be the case. I'm super glad that I found it out before calling the AC service firm. They would die laughing at me :)

07:45 My radiator won't move so I can't get the drum out :(
@NickHope
@NickHope 5 месяцев назад
I realised there's a black, foam air/vibration seal between the radiator and the plastic housing at the back. That seal had perished and stuck the radiator in place, so I just needed to wiggle it and pull it really hard. Also, because that seal had previously not been put back in correctly when someone else serviced the unit, so it was sticking out and the drum/fan was flicking on it (which was the reason I was disassembling the unit). I just ripped off the perished parts, cleaned everything and reassembled the unit. Seems OK. My top tip is to smear a bit of silicone grease in the end of the rubber drainage hose (if it's fitted at the right end). Makes it so much easier to reassamble, as the plastic tube slides back into the hose. Also, if your unit is nearly against the ceiling and you can't reach the 3 latches at the top, but some grease on those too, so that they assemble/disassemble more easily. p.s. These Panasonic units are very poorly designed. Mitsubishi better (I'm a design engineer).

You need to spray the coils first. You can use aircon cleaning solution or make your own with vinegar, bicarb soda and some mild detergent. Soak al the coils for 20 minutes and use soft brush in coil direction to loosen particles of mould, then use water with a little bit of pressure to rinse off, being careful not to splash the electrics.
