In this video I will show you how to thoroughly clean and lubricate your motorcycles chain and sprockets using the cheapest cleaning method that works with perfect results. Perfect for maintenance of o - ring and X - ring chains.
When I was younger and didn't have money to buy expensive o ring chains I would soak my chain over night in gas. The next day the gas was black then all I had to do was hang it and wipe it down with a rag and let it dry. Then start at the top and spray it with a good quality chain lube, it was much easier than cleaning it on the bike no brushing at all, It would look almost new except for the wear of course. Not sure if it would be a good idea soak a o ring chain in diesel fuel of course not gas but for a regular chain you could experiment.
taking the chain off would be much easier way to clean it. no mess, clean to the core. i only do that like once a month if im not feeling lazy. otherwise i just put a towel with oil and wipe them.
It's a little confusing, because there are chain-cleaning videos on you tube that tell you NEVER to use diesel or kerosene to clean o-ring chains - because it will damage the o-rings, and then there are videos like this that say it's okay to use diesel??????
Deisel also breaks down the rubber o ring instead of using deisel you can use kerosene oil for cleaning deisel or petrol (gasoline) is harmful for o ring
Do you clean off the grease and stuff on the chain when you buy a new one? And if so what would you use? Great video, just ordered a cleaning brush and going to siphon some diesel out of my truck =p
@@freebehindbars8654 I been cleaning the grease off my new chains and using that Dupont Teflon chain saver for a few years now qnd it works great, nothing sticks to it!
