I moved into my condo a week ago and today my project is cleaning the window sills and tracks. So glad I found your channel. I'm going to the hardware store to buy the 3 in 1 product then will get started. Thank you!
That's awesome! It made such a difference in y windows. I never noticed how dirty they were until I went to clean them. I'm sure yours looked great after also!
If you're going to do this much, you may as well lift the window out also so you can get at the whole track better. Going to clean mine today after I find some lube.
"When combined, vinegar (an acid) and baking soda (a base) fizz (the reaction) and cancel each other out, which is an awesome science experiment for the kiddos. This fizz is caused by a chemical reaction, resulting in basically salty water which neutralizes the cleaning power of both ingredients."
So how did you come to find or decide to use this three in one lock dry lube? Certainly isn’t the application that the product was made for so I’m just trying to understand how or why you decided that it was the product to use. Thank you
Just because it's for locks doesn't mean it won't work. I decided to use the dry lube because it wouldn't turn gummy on the window components. Regular oil would attract dirt. Hope that answers your question!
As often as your windows need it. I haven't had to do a big cleaning like this since this video. I keep them clean by wiping out the tracks every now and then. Ours were really gross from the prior owner of the house. I don't think he ever did a stitch of housework!
Hi Roli, That's a good question. There isn't any scent and I don't recall a strong chemical odor. I think it smells a little chemical when it's first sprayed, but it goes away quickly. Hope that answered your question!
H2OBungalow, Thanks for this video Wendy! Do you know how is 3-in-1 lock dry lube different from triflow? I have tri-flow and wanted to try this. sensegrove, I was searching to find out if I should use WD-40, Triflow or silicon lubricant (like what I use for my foozball table.) this forum I found in a search forums.finehomebuilding.com/breaktime/general-discussion/lubricant-vinyl-windows included this advice: 1) Don't use oil or WD40 2) Do use Either a silicone lube or a teflon lube (TriFlow). Other searches say WD40 attracts a lot of dirt and grime after you apply it.
