Great tutorial, you hit all the important points of the air filter maintenance process. Only thing I'd do different is use only dish soap to clean the filter instead of the pricey air filter cleaning products. I've tried a few different types out but haven't noticed any improvements.
Nice video, only thing i different is i would prefer to let the filter sit in the sun for an hour or so so the alcohol can evaporate. Any air filter oil i have used is diluted with alcohol so it has a thin viscosity and gets into all the filter pores. Once the alcohol evaporates, the oil gets very tacky. Putting the filter back in the bike and putting the seat or cover back on could cause the oil to drip off the filter into the EFI (new yamaha) or Carb and foul a plug and or not have enough oil on the filter to properly catch dirt. Ever see a puddle of oil on the floor from the airbox? this is why.
sure okay because his filter looked destroyed, and he has 68k subs because he obviously knows what he is doing, and people sub to him because his techniques work for them so i think we are good to use a air compressor lol.
this is all wrong. That bike wouldn't last 5 minutes in the dunes. After riding a bike in sand that filter is wasted, it takes so much time and effort to clean that filter and to do it right.
+jfkjncjdi icon you must buy a new filter everytime you go for a ride or everytime the simpsons is on tv . he was just showing you what you shouldnt do lol PS don't Breed
the best way to clean it is actually by filling an ice cream pail half full of gas and then just dunking the filter in the bucket and work it around fr a bit. the filter will be clean in 15 seconds or less guarunteed
@@brodyrichard263 ya right. A custom graphics kit is upwards of $300. And also it’s not just the graphics, I think the $6,000 suspension looks pretty good also!
@@brodyrichard263 check out decal works, $279.99 just for graphics. And you can’t even put your name on the number plate without charging you. Plus you have to pay to get “sponsored”. The place does have good graphics though.
So I just cleaned my filter for the first time, I washed it twice with a filter cleaner and washed it out with water. It looks totally clean but when I touch it with my finger (I mean without gloves) I can feel that its still oily. Is that normal or what should I do?
you shouldnt really blow the filter from the outside as any dirt that may have been left over from cleaning, might get forced through the filter and might even enter your engine, blowing from the inside of the filter is always the better option
Use contact cleaner to clean your air filter? That would take like the whole can... Use a bucket of kerosene or diesel. It does the job and lasts longer. DO NOT USE GASOLINE like many dorks do. This will shorten the life of your air filter BIGTIME.
