Very interesting tutorial... I'd just swap the manual part of the winding with my power drill, of course on low speed. And probably add some isopropyl alcohol drops to the folded up towel as you wind.
It is tough very easy method is you put two ear bud cottons between plastic roller wheel and ribbon Put 1-1 drop alcohol based sanitizer or cleaner And put him in audio tape mechanism and reverse - forward it one to two times, then Remove bud You see very cleany cassette tape 👍
It's either going to do little or too much in the first few meters and too little to none in the rest. Alcohol only is also not ideal for mold and quite aggressive on the tape. Tested this method several times. Furthermore mold tend to colonize the magnetic tape surface, not only the sides. This method can lead to severe mistracking on the take up hub, causing irreversible tape damage.
I got some good quality Star Trek audio books. On a couple of the tapes the pad is dirty but otherwise OK. Is it safe to clean the pad with alcohol? Or how would you tackle it?
Boleh guna isopropyl alcohol dalam 80% xsilap.. bunyi mmg clear bila cuci tapi bergantung pada tali kaset jugak. kalau tali kaset dh rosak, bunyi jadi tak ok.
If it's mould there is a chance your audio quality will be effected as mould eats through the tape and can cause damage. I remove mould from video tapes so have had first-hand experience of this
