Cleaning one of the hypest shoes in the sneaker game right now! New balance sneakers used to be known as dad shoes and I think we all know a dad that rocked these back in the 90's. However, now it is rare to not see a pair of New Balance sneakers in the collection! In today's Shoe Care Academy episode Rob will walk you through the best way to clean dirty suede shoes using the RESHOEVN8R Signature Shoe Cleaning Kit.
The New Balance 9060 features suede, mesh, knit and a few other materials which makes this mixed material sneaker a little tough to clean. However, with the help of our Patented Laundry System we weren't too worried about the clean. These materials were covered in grease and dirt, so we started off by dry brushing the sneaker to remove as much of the loose dirt that we could before starting to create bubbles! Once the dry brushing was completed we relied on the 3 different brushes to tackle the rest of the cleaning.
We scrubbed the entire upper material using the Soft Bristle Brush to protect the delicate materials, but unfortunately there was some serious deep staining. We had to move over to the Medium Bristle Brush to tackle the deeper stains and the thick midsole. After that was complete the sneaker was still looking a little dingy, but don't worry the laundry system was going to make it better! We finished the pretreatment with the Stiff Bristle Brush and solution.
We finished up the pretreatment then added them to the Laundry System to fully flush out the delicate suede and white mesh. We washed the sneaker on a normal cycle with cold water and allowed it to air dry before we checked out the results. All in all the sneaker came out pretty dang good, but the suede was crunchy for sure.
To revive the suede we relied on the Dry Suede Kit to erase any deeper stains and reset the nap with the suede brush. After all that these New Balance 9060's are ready to go back into the rotation.
