i ran my own car detailing biz for 15 years...washed 100s of cream seat belts... nearly every day cleaned belts...at a Mercedes Benz dealership.... nothing works better than unbolting the bottom of the belt...pulling it all the way out of the car...closing the door to stop belt retracting...spraying degreaser un dilutted on both sides of belt...then blasting both sides of belt with 3000psi high pressure water at 3 inches away...a coin operated car wash gun works ok too if you dont have a pressure washer never mind moist belts...it will be dry in 1 day...its nylon..dries fast....customers dont mind a little moisture on belts as they pick up their vehicle.....as they appreciate how immaculate belts have become ...

Apex Detail i use to for years spray scrub n rub belts...with very poor results...then one day a car sales rep expressed dissatisfaction over the belts i cleaned...so out of haste...i took the car to the wash bay...pull the belt out of the car... slammed the door on the belt....then blasted it with water lol... later realized its the best method....saves time...leaves no chemical residue behind...and immaculate results always...no matter how filthy the belts were....and have used the method for many years ever since... in saying this however...i tested many products here in Australia....and found G101 from Autosmart worked the best in conjunction with the water pressure gun...helped about 10% more power... remove dirt faster than other degreasers...G101 is yellow colored...i dont believe however you guys have it over there in the states...but im sure you can test which degreaser works the strongest for you...cheers

Over here, Peter, Spray Nine might be the equivalent. But I will certainly look for it and pass that information on. I was laughing when I read your experiences at the dealership. I started out the same way at a Porshe, Audi dealer. What memories... the elder sales managers did not approve of us young detailers at that time and had fun making it miserable for us. But I learned a lot... in a short time period there, so it was all good. 👍🏻

What about overspray of degreaser onto the car's paint?

Hey guys just adding to the drying process for the belts been washed outside, if you have a air blower that’s a good tool to use to dry them also if you gently hoover the belts to to aid them drying this will also help them 2 combinations will help massively too 🏎💨

Great video Brian! Can you also show us how to clean the seat belt mechanism so to allow it to retract easily and freely as if it was new on the day we bought the vehicle? I think that will be a plus to all your subscribers.

Most of the time, both visible and invisible dirt buildup on the seatbelt is the cause of the seatbelt not retracting like when it was new. I know it sounds strange but it is the main cause most of the time.

I have a Porsche Boxster 981 and I got my roof calibrated a few months ago. When the car came back from the garage, the seatbelt was getting wet in rain. Took it back and they cleared the drains and fixed it, but the musty/moldy smell stayed and I can’t get rid of it. Will try this method

I don't waste time, soak the belts with Meguiar's Super Degreaser, agitate, and pressure wash the belts, done in 10 minutes. Totally clean, too easy.

Thanks for the tips. Can you do a video on tan/beige colored seat belts? This video doesn't show any of the dirt being removed so you can't see that it's getting clean. Thanks again.

What a great video, I am getting started to clean the seatbelts in my car. I do have black mold on some of the belts. I do have a steam machine I'm planning on using, what aother product would you recommend to get rid of the staining and sanitizing? I was planning on using white vinegar

I used SuperClean on my seat belt becuase my kid spilled fruit punch and it worked perfectly. I dilluted it 1:2 but worked great with no smell. What are your thoughts on SuperClean?
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 7 лет назад
I have it and use it on wheel wells and engines. Spray nine is just as strong if not stronger AND disinfects, sanitizes, deodorizes in addition. its clear, no scent. Perfect for my shop. Super Clean is a great product to keep in the detailing arsenal!

Thank you -- two questions please: What about vomit? (Someone else's!!)? And, is it possible to completely remove the seatbelt strapping from its spool and get the whole noodle out to clean it, soak it, or even replace it?......or is that a silly question? And an unnecessary act of being too thorough?
@deasttn
@deasttn 5 лет назад
Yes, you can completely remove the belt and/or buy a replacement belt (probably pricey).

hi can use only the steamer whit degreaser or white vinegar is better ? or I can do damage on sit belt ? I just got a van and is so dirty :S
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 7 лет назад
The Whit vinegar is just an odor neutralizer....all purpose cleaner by itself is fine. Will not damage.
@rafacoupe11
