How to Clean Finish a Neckline or Armhole with Bias | V-fold & Binding

Today I'm teaching you guys 2 ways to use bias to finish a raw edge. When deciding which method is right for your project ask yourself if you want the bias to be visible on your final project. If the answer is yes, go with binding. If the answer is no, use v-fold. Both methods are great to use on necklines and armholes when facings aren't appropriate. While both are cut on the bias, they still manage to stabilize these delicate areas and keep them from stretching.
Keep in mind that while bias binding doesn't require seam allowance on the self fabric, v-fold requires 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance.
I wish I had known how easy using bias is early on in my sewing adventures! I had never heard of v-fold until I entered the fashion industry, and now I use it all the time!

The Awl-Nighter Hard to film on the road and the cosplay work is taking all my time when I am home. Debating showing off some of that work but haven't figured out how, what, or how badly it'll slow me down!

You should check out Angela Clayton's channel. She does progress videos that do pretty well. I was thinking about doing something similar too.

Awesome! Easy! Thank you! Can you please help me with: making a kaftan/mumu with no sleeves & sewing binding around the armholes as well as stitching a straight seam down each side under the arms....how do you make it nice & tidy where the binded armhole meets the side seam? I hope I have explained it properly. If I could include a diagram that would maybe help but I can't. I've tried to google this but all that comes up are the armholes with binding but they don't continue with the side seams.

Hi! For a sleeveless garment, you will sew the side seams first. When it comes time to sew the binding, there are a few methods you can use to attach it to the armhole. Sorry I don't have video on my channel to help you, but here's the link to a great tutorial (this is my preferred method). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1hVrlJyeUIs.html
