Disolving denture cleaning tablets works too. Just dissolve in a cup and put your gold, diamonds in it for hours ir over night.

Will the boiling baking soda or coke method work for a piece that has 18K gold soldered onto 925 silver? Will these 2 processes be detrimental to the solder joint between the gold and the silver?

WoW, that was so helpful! I need to color correct my 925K silver ring. It accidentally was discolored when I use the clarifying shampoo I never used before. I really hope this hack works I've had to bring for about 15 years and the 14 karat gold ring didn't change colors 😃 only this one.

I could never get my sivler jewelry clean with the foil and baking soda. I even bought the Speedy cleaning aluminum plate from QVC. It uses borax and baking soda. It does not work for me. I own a lot of sterling silver jewelry.

Best is Aluminum foil in stainless steel pot Boiling water and Borax . Make sure foil touches steel pot and borax mixed into hot water

If you want to remove a ring that won't come off your finger, I suggest using ice. You could even put your finger into the freezer on the surrounding ice. Guaranteed to get the ring to come off.

Covering it with nail polish causes skin allergy. I tried it before and had a bad experience. I'd rather use baking soda + lemon + one table spoon water and few drops of any dish cleaner (detergent) then jewellery come out super clean, it's valid with silver and gold jewellery.

Maybe your jewelry isn't real silver, or it's only plated. Or there was too much tarnish? I've needed to use polish afterward if the tarnish was black.

@@edennis8578 no it was real stamped 925 silver and it was not that tarnish it just did not work

I have solid .925 sterling and it does not work for me. A silver store in Delaware told me that once you get your jewelry clean and polished to store each piece in a little zip lock plastic bag to prevent oxidation. That does help . I usually have to clean a lot of silver and I hate it. That’s why a lot of people don’t like sterling silver. It is a pain to keep it from tarnishing. I have a beautiful Navaho ( artist signed)turtle pendant that I keep in a sealed bag to prevent having to clean it often.
