How to clean Leopard Geckos eyes | 2022
Hey, gecko fam! In this video, I will show you how to clean a leopard gecko's eyes.
Sometimes leopard geckos get eco earth, peat moss, dirt, or other small particles from their humid hides stuck in their eyes.
They usually clean their eyes by licking them with their tongue, but if the build-up is bad enough you may need to assist the gecko with eye washing or take the gecko to the vet for further assistance.

Please go to a vet. They will give some antibiotic cream, you need to apply daily. For me, it cleared my Leopards eye issue

@@GeekyGeckoCreationsyou should take your video down you said not to use tap water due to it being harmful then proceeded to risk drowning it under said tap water. This is misleading to viewers and could be considered animal abuse, be a good guy and take down the content.

This is good to know. I’ve had this happen on a mild level and used a spray bottle but this looks more effective. Happy Halloween to you and all your lovely critters.

Mine just went threw this and he puts his head under the water too... It scared me at first but he loved it and was pretty dehydrated it seemed. He is doing much better!

so use a bottle with non-tap water and use the faucet with tap water? or is the faucet also not tap water and is connected to something else?

This is good to know! This week i thought one of my gecko's eyes stayed closed and needed to be cleaned. But luckely she opened her eye a bit later and it's looking fine. But i was thinking of how to help her if it would be needed, so I found your vid and checked it out! Thanks a lot! Now i know what to do when one of my gecko's has eye problems.

I use green sphagnum moss and its not as loose, more like a sponge till its been used a long time. I have a few that dig and bury fully under it but not had this issue.

Yeh u r right, I do think that type of substrate is a bit lower risk for fine particles getting in the geckos eyes so that's awesome!

Hey I received two Leopard geckos that I received from a guy off of wine and they are both in horrible condition. I can’t quite get them to eat and they’re really skinny. Do you have any suggestions or things that I should try or do?

Oh sure! So we actually only use ambient room temp, you can see it in one of our videos on our channel if you search for "ambient room set up". . . We heat our rooms to 85 degrees with a ceiling fan to keep temps even all throughout the room and that's it...we used to use heat tape b4 this method however

Thank you so much.. It just took me an hour to get both eyes unstuck.. You all should give Gazpacho a round of applause for how well she just handled me rinsing and trying to help her. Both eyes are clear now.. I hope shes not blind from the sheds though 😢

Also I did almost full power on both hot and cold and made sure it was just warm.. I got water in her nose once and she sneezed it up. I washed her eyes for as long as I could and used a plastic tweezer to take the shed out in a few repeats of water and tweezer.

That is also fixable as well but please let her Vet do it. Explain the issue to him on the phone first and let him know u wànt assurance BÈFORE he has at her !!!!😮😮😬😬😤💔🇨🇦

You shouldn’t ever use the faucet like this. You can cause water to go into the ear and use warm water. And sterile animal safe eye wash not human eye wash.

Only water in that bottle. However most vets will recommend buying that actual solution, from Walmart, but I ran out of it, so I just refilled it with normal water, no solution, and it works well in cases like this situation. Thanks for the question! :D

You use the sink for pressure but you shouldn’t just use sink water because there’s more chance of infection because some sinks are filtered

I have a leopard gecko. He’s 17 yrs old. The way you handle that gecko is nothing but cringe. Yea her head was under water cause you messed her up. You were so rough. Pulling her by the tail! What? I would never do that! You need to tune yourself to that gecko a lot better cause you missed the mark. Talking about giving her a little break after you blast her face holes then Say avoid the nose. I’ve dealt with eye issues. I GENTLY let him climb into the sink. As he always has. And he puts his face up to put water in his eye. I was gentle when I introduced him. You were not good to that animal!
