I had a M4 but sold it a few years back. The guy I sold it to called me and asked how to disassemble and clean it. I asked why he had never cleaned it over all these years and he said that it worked fine and didn't need cleaning. Benelli would probably love to hear that! However, I told him that he has to take care of it if he wants it to take care of him. I told him to go online and watch videos, but he said that he doesn't have a computer. So, he’s coming over tomorrow to watch the video on my computer. I have been checking out different videos to find one that will help him the most. I recently bought a Turkish M4 copy (Panzer) which I know isn’t very highly regarded. It was bleeding oil when I picked it up from my local FFL. I’m new to to taking down and cleaning firearms and this video was very helpful. The firing pin retaining pin on my Turkenelli wouldn’t budge, but I was able to field strip and reassemble based on this video. Thank you !

Excellent tutorial! I would add that looking down the barrel with a bore light is advisable top be absolutely sure the barrel is truly clean when done with it. To me, cleaning, maintaining and upgrading this shotgun is almost as much fun and rewarding as shooting it!

Man that's a beautiful weapon

On a civilian model (mine is a 11701) the magazine limiter/2rd extension tube can be left on, the barrel ring will clear it. It's the stock pieces that won't, but they come off easily enough. I got a 2rd extension and you will have to use snap ring pliers to transfer the spring retainer to the extension. This is actually the setup I prefer. Not only is the 2rd extension around $50 and obtainable in less than a year (lol), but it improves the field maintenance ability by making it possible for you to clean out the magazine tube without needing snap ring pliers. Just unscrew the extension and everything will slide out so you can clean the tube. NEVER use oil in it. It needs no lubrication but you can use dry graphite lube if you like. I don't bother to use dry lube, just concentrate on clean with nothing sticky inside. FTF issues almost always are the result of obstructions like lint from your pocket or sticky grit or grease getting inside that tube. I see no need for the 7rd tube other than cosmetic purposes. The 2rd extension actually improves field maintenance for the M4. If you do get the 7rd tube, you don't have to use Loctite (R) when you install it and you can then unscrew it for field cleaning, but it is harder to put the spring and follower back in to reassemble. Seriously, if you get a civilian model with a 5rd tube and want 7rd capacity, save yourself some money and frustration and get the 2rd extension tube. Putting the follower in first, then the spring and then putting the extension tube on the spring and screwing it on is a lot easier than putting the spring in the 7rd tube, compressing it with the follower and then trying to get that assembly screwed into the receiver. Like the rest of the gun, cleaning a magazine with a 2rd extension tube is something you can do in the dark without having small parts under spring tension that want to fly away from you.

Great video! I was thinking of getting my M4 custom cerakoted so this video was very informative to be able to see which internal parts are coated. Would it be accurate to tell the person who will be coating my gun that every metal internal is coated?

I love how you don’t have to remove the magazine spring to take the gun down...my m2 is a biotch with the 7 round mag and long sproingy spring.

Another great video. Love my m4 after the first 100 or so rounds.

I use a medium stiffness paintbrush and Dip in a CLP for a few minutes and brush the carbon off. Its a lot quicker and much more enjoying to do.

Great video. Thank you. One problem ... I could not get the charger handle to twist and release to get the bolt group out. Even tried to get after it with some needle nose pliers. I have a Panzer Arms M4 Tactical 12g clone ... Everything else worked just as you showed on your Benelli M4. But the PA harder handle would not twist and come out.

Nice, thx! About how many rounds you think you had through that...pretty dirty for "self cleaning" system. Akso, why a steel brush in the bore? That portion of the brush is desinged to clean the barrel extension for barrel lugs and i alwyas thought only copper brushes were appropriate for bores

Sometimes when I try to put the firing pin retaining pin back in, it's a pretty tight fit, because the small o-ring is smashed up against the rear of the bolt assembly (14:28 in your video). Is this designed this way to hold the retaining pin in snugly. It seems kind of awkward.

Why are you lubricating the pistons? I was under the impression that Benelli specifically states not to lubricate the ARGO pistons as they are self-cleaning/ self lubricating. By adding any type of oil/ lubricant you are simply allowing carbon to build up faster on those components. Also, I typically avoid releasing the charging handle on an empty chamber as there is unnecessary wear on the bolt face. Otherwise love your videos and appreciate the very detailed break-down.

Are the two endpoints of the ARGO pistons supposed to move forward freely as you tilt your shotgun downwards?

Awesome video!! Just got one and shot 30 rounds threw it and cleaned it right after and noticed the Pistons rattle when fully assembled and never really noticed it before but is this normal??
