Gibson Master Luthier, Jim DeCola, demonstrates the correct way to maintain your guitar's fingerboard, including effective ways to eliminate gunk buildup. Whether you're a beginner learning to clean your guitar's fretboard for the first time, or a seasoned professional, Jim will give you pro tips that will make the cleaning and conditioning process simple and more efficient, while giving your guitar's fingerboard improved stability, smoother playability, and a like-new appearance.
Learn how to apply lemon oil to your guitar's fretboard, in this example using a Gibson SG, which also applies to all electric guitars. Jim also shares his tips on removing that gunk buildup that tends to happen over time we play our guitars using simple household items such as a toothbrush to remove dirt and debris from the fretboard. In addition, Jim shows us how to use synthetic steel wool to clean the fretboard safely on our guitar when the gunk tends to be a little harder to remove.
