I’m about to order of of these Juki models and I’ve been watching all the videos I can’t find in preparation for it. Yours is by far, the best tutorial with the clearest instructions and detailed descriptions I’ve come across! Thank you ma’am! 😊

This is probably one of the best videos on the DDL8700! I've watched other videos and they were incorrect compared to your instruction! First, the store I bought my machine from told me that I never had to oil my machine, but just keep the pan filled and it will run forever. Watching your video, I realized I've got to get some oil and get busy oiling other parts. Second, I was having issues with my tension and the thread on the bottom was "railroading". As soon as I was done watching the your video through the tension part, I immediately went to my machine made some adjustments and BAM, all fixed!!!! I can't even tell you how excited and happy I am to have found your little channel! I've already subscribed and look forward to watching other videos. Thank you so very much from the USA!

She’s actually doing that part wrong, probably due to experience with other machines. This machine has an oil pump so that it automatically oils all of the moving parts, not just the ones at the bottom. It’s a little funny as you can actually see little tubes going directly to the areas she’s wasting time oiling that carry oil there automatically. As she says in the video, over oiling can be just as bad as under oiling so I wouldn’t recommend adding any oil yourself the way she does in this video unless you personally know your oil pump has stopped working.
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 10 месяцев назад
@@Bd3849. Hi after reading your message, I have been and looked over my machine very thoroughly, yes there is one single tube that goes up to the top of the machine and I would like to thank you for bringing this to my attention, I don’t know how I missed that , there is nothing at all that oils the parts underneath the needle plate, I have had my machine for many years and touch wood had no major issues, I would still recommend oiling all the parts that I point out in the video because you can not see exactly where the tubes goes to X

Thank you so much for this video! I just got my Juki DDL 8700 yesterday and my husband and I are working on assembling everything in the evenings after we get home from work. I learned a lot from you video, as I am self-taught when it comes to sewing and I look forward to watching many more of your clips! Thanks again, xoxo - Kathy

Thank you, I will use these instructions to clean and oil my machine. Regarding tension, one should check using the right size needle and threaded it right before changing tension, especially on the bobbin case. One can check the tension in the bobbin case by putting the bobbin in and hold the thread and see if it drops or not. A little nudge and it should drop a bit but stop.
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina Год назад
Check to see if the machine is threaded right , the needle doesn’t play a part in the tension, threads and it been threaded right does and the bobbin case will slowing drop if you hold the thread and let it tyebbobbin case drop to your opposite hand but it won’t stop you just have to catch it in your hand x

I just bought a Juki 5550 and I adore it. I did some work on the belt because it was sooooooo tight.The handwheel can be moved by hand now whereas before it couldn't. I did notice tho that while the stitch is good it seems a touch looser now. Should I move the belt back to where it was?
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 3 года назад
No the stitch is nothing to do with the belt , firstly check that the machine is threaded correctly on top and underneath in the bobbin case , if the tension is loose on top as you sew then you need to tighten the screw on the bobbin case if the tension is loose underneath as your sewing then you need to tighten the upper tension disc , just remember always opposite so tension problem when the threading is all correct when the problem is on top it’s the tension underneath and when the problem is underneath then it’s the tension on top to adjust x

I have an 8700 and it is a great machine. My question is when sewing with heavy polyester tread, large needle, and sunbrella canvas. My bobin adjust is very loose and the top tension is very very tight to get an "OK" stitch. The ultimate goal is to have upper and lower stitch look the same. I read that the bracket just above the upper tensioner can be moved left or right for heavier thread. Do you know what is actually happening when moving that to either side?
@TinaBambina

Hi Mike I have never had to move mine , but I also use heavy polyester thread and I don’t change my tension much on top or underneath and the stitch is fine.

Hi, just found your video and it's helped so much, thank you!! I have the Juki DDL 8100e but lower and raising my foot pedal seems really stiff, plus my knee lift doesn't seem to work unless my foot is lowered and then it will work fine. Do you have any tips on loosening this please? :)
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 3 года назад
Hi Amy If you have a new machine the knee lift does loosen over time , if it’s not new if you look under your machine and follow the knee lift bar there is a nut bolt that can be loosen , you can try this if you want it loosening off .
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 3 года назад
You can also move the knee plate up or down it’s adjustable.

Hi yes It’s made in Japan the household units are made in China, you could do free hand quilting on any machine , because you are guiding it so yes you can do it in this machine X

@@zainabmuzammil6643 ah no the teeth dogs can not be lowered , there is a way to adjust the speed but I don’t know how to do that , there is something underneath the machine that you adjust but I have never had to do mine .

Oh is that so? But have you tried turning the stitch length to 0 so that the feedogs go down? I saw one of the youtube video showing it. But that machines "juki" logo was on the side even though the model was DDL 8700. It was possible to lower the feeddogs and do free motion quilting. Please could you help me with this doubt? I have a question I have this exact model and when I press down on the peddle and I hear the machine about to sew it sounds like the motor is breathing a bit harder then im use to. It sounds similar to a generator but not nearly as loud, if the machine is sewing I cant hear it but when im sewing really slow and I can watch needle move slowly I can hear it clearly. Should this be something to be concerned about?
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 2 месяца назад
Hi Obviously our models are the older ones and are noisy machines to start off with, these machines are work horses and are made to last, my machine has had a slightly different noise of late , I’ve gave it a good once over and I think it’s still a bit noisier but I’m not to concerned about it , it is working fine and still doing a great job , you can get new motors for the machine if you are quite concerned about the noise , the new ones are quite but to be fair the noise does not bother me.
@digitalgurlfrend
@digitalgurlfrend 2 месяца назад
@@TinaBambina ok thank you! The noise doesnt bother me at all I just wanted to make sure I was safe to sew on it. Hello tins do you have any information about needles and threads etc thanks Doreen
@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 3 года назад
Hi Doreen if you read the reply I put on glo post that’s on needles and as for cottons I use 120 cottons mostly , but I also use the thick super strong cotton and others I also use a lot of small reel cottons and don’t have a problem, the juki can use most threads and sews with ease hope this helps you

Hi Doreen my manual states the needle to be use are DB X 1”14 and select a proper needle size according to the count of thread and type of material used, now I have to be honest I use a 100 for most of my sewing and only really change it if I’m using satin chiffon or silk

Two things your tension is too tight so loosen this off or your cotton is old and will keep snapping , hold the thread with both hands and if it snaps easily throw it away because it’s probably old and weak.

@TinaBambina
@TinaBambina 3 года назад
First make sure that the lead is fully plugged into the machine ,some time certain machines have in the hand turn wheel where you turn to put the needle either up or down make sure if your machine has this that it has been tighten if it’s loose then it won’t sew, check your manual for any other problems that may cause your machine not to work some times there also a button that you can press that will put your machine in a mode where the machine won’t run. Because you maybe doing some thing to your machine where you need it to be still I hope this helps let me know how you get on , if the machine is brand new it will be under warranty if you can’t get it to work if it second hand the plug may need a new fuse x
