Very helpful video! I've been dealing with a nasty gasket for a while now. I've cleaned all I've could with it attached and now know how to take off! Wish me luck tho. May need assistance getting it off and on. Aweful design really! Do you know if there is a way to take out the drum? I've cleaned using the washing machine "pucks" you can buy but I think I need to take out the drum and deep clean under it too

Yes, the inner clamp is difficult to deal with. I haven't removed the drum, but I have another video replacing the inlet valves and take the top cover off (very easy). Might be able to see how much additional work it could be. Surprisingly empty inside.

It's worth trying. That first clamp at the front is very easy to take off and put back on. And then see if it allows enough movement to clean what you need.

Hi, I have an 8kg LG, washing machine, the gasket of this machine is ripped off and I also have a 7 kg LG washing machine that I don't use, it's motor is damaged but the gasket in this 7kg is fairly new. My question is, can I swap the gaskets from the 7kg machine to put on the 8kg machine?
@realhouseDIY

I'm pretty sure the capacity difference is the depth of the drum (assuming same model year, model family). I would take measurements of each gasket (diameter and depth) and if the same go for it.

You show the insertion of the inner ring clamp but you then sort of skip over the process of connecting the ends of the clamp. All I know is you used a vise grip (what is it gripped to?) to somehow bring together and connect the ends. I'd sure like to see a video of how you accomplished this most frustrating (and seemingly impossible) feat. Any advice you can give me here would be much appreciated. Thanks.

@@realhouseDIY I haven't even gotten to the point of reconnecting the ends (using an expansion tool). After hours and hours of unsuccessfully trying to get the inner ring situated in it's groove on the seal, I have determined there is some trick to it that I haven't figured out, or it's just flat-out impossible. I've concluded the only way to replace that ring is to remove the top and front of the washer. But before I resort to that, please tell me if there is indeed a trick, and if so, what the heck is it????
@realhouseDIY
@realhouseDIY Месяц назад
@@swingblakester the top is typically very easy to remove so might help see what's going on. But there's no trick to it. Just fits around the white drum lip then should stay seated well while getting the clamp on.

@@realhouseDIY I think I’m having similar issue. The problem is as you’re working the lip around the white portion, just when you think you’re done, a part of the lip somewhere else in the circle pops out. Then you go to reinsert that part of the lip and then it pops out in another place. It’s a nonstop wacka mole. where you’re just hoping that the tension holds, and you can get it fully insert it all the way around without it popping out somewhere

The seal has an arrow shape on the top of it (directly opposite the drain). Does the inner ring go in the groove behind that arrow, or does the ring go in the groove in front of it?

I’d rather deal with this gasket than have a top load. The old top load center agitators used to work the clothes but the new ones look just wiggle the clothes around regardless of how you loaded the washer. At least with a front load you know it is tumbling the clothes. Just my preference.

I'm not sure why this video is rated as heplfull. I've just wasted 1h30 trying to do it without removing the front door. I honestly think it is not possible. Maybe someone who really know what he is doing can do it, but for most people i think it is not realistic. I bought a new one (kind of stiff), so maybe with an old one already shaped correctly (and soft), you can do it this way, but i wouldn't count on that. Dont waste your time and remove the front door, do it properly, you will save time. You can find how to do it in many other videos. You're welcom!
@realhouseDIY
@realhouseDIY 3 месяца назад
@@Mcblounnn at least on this particular model it's not as simple as just removing the front door. It would require the top panel to be removed, then the control panel, then the front panel. It saves me an hour doing it this way, although with just the top panel off (2 screws) you get a lot more access to the top of the gasket. This method is also a must if you have a shelf or stacked dryer on top.
