If you add baking soda to the vinegar, you neutralize the acetic acid, rendering it completely useless. Let it sit with JUST vinegar for a few hours, even overnight (hint: acids work even better when they are heated). When it's done, pour out the vinegar, rinse with water, THEN put baking soda in, making an abrasive paste you will use to scrub the stuff that has been dissolved or loosened by the acid. You can even add very coarse salt to make it more abrasive, however it will dissolve more than baking soda in the water used to make the paste. When you add vinegar and baking soda together, you neutralize the acid in the vinegar and you dissolve the abrasive baking soda. In order to maximize the cleaning ability of both items, you have to use them separately.

Vinegar/Acid is better at dissolving minerals, like hard water stains. Alkaline is more effective at breaking down fats/grease, so the baking soda with just hot water would work best.

the brillo (steel wool) probably had more to do with getting the baked on grime

my parents pans are too and they wont throw them out. They messed my brownie pan. Why do you still look with them . disgusting. No silver at all. burnt on burnt. I just scrubbed all their stainless still pans with this and bar keepers friend. ( Bar keepers friend really helped).But those weren't like the baking pans. Took me 45 mins a pan worth of scrubbing tho. and One I just didn't try and one I its not all off. but noone comes over to see them but do you just leave them looking like that. Gross. And then when I show you that I scrubbed them and then I show you the burned baking sheet like im not trying to srub. your response is I don't want you too. Shut why dont you. Shit this mess is gross. And now im learning to cook. Not on that stuff

Skip the baking soda and vinegar, just let it sit in hot water then go to town on it with the steel wool. When you've had enough, get a can of easy off and actually clean the darn thing.

Baking soda and vinegar cancel each other out.. the fuzziness is a chemical reaction so all he's scribing it with is salty water. Use only vinegar or baking.. just in general could use a better cleaner.

You can avoid having to clean this sort of mess if you line your baking sheet w/parchment paper or aluminum foil (depending on what you're cooking).

@@nenee009 it's good for cleaning if you use it right, and no, you're not dumb. Pour in the vinegar alone, let it sit for a few hours. Then pour out, rinse wth water, THEN pour baking soda in a small pile, and add enough water to make a paste. Use that paste to scrub what the vinegar loosened. Boom.

Bhaaa people kill me all they need to do is place down some tinfoil before baking, and if your making cookies or something like that place your parchment paper over the tin foil wa- la your pans stay new, mine I have had since my mom passed and she taught me this and she had the set I have now like another 20 years and that was 29 years ago this set is like 50 years old or better and still like new!!!!!,

@Beruthiel45
@Beruthiel45 3 года назад
I've used both foil and parchment paper forever and no matter what, somebody else uses the pots and pans and oil or other juices leak, and voila, burnt on goop. I've had my stuff for over 50 years but I live with a husband and also had adult kids and grandkids using it as well. Unless I live in the kitchen 24 hours a day and stand guard things will get mucky. C'est la vie. 🤷
@hamie58

Using foil every time you cook is terrible for the environment, I'd rather give my pans a good scrub a few times a year.
