Is your Tesla Model 3's air conditioning not working as well as it used to?
Do you hear the fans running more than you used to?
It might be time to clean out the front radiator. Dirt, leaves and other debris can accumulate in the radiator, blocking airflow and reducing the efficiency of your air conditioning system and battery cooling.
In this video, I'll guide you through the process of removing the front trunk liner and cleaning out the radiator to improve the air conditioning performance.

12:45 Testing the Air Conditioning
13:44 Outro
Benefits of cleaning your Tesla Model 3 radiator:
Improved air conditioning performance
Reduced fan noise
Extended life of your air conditioning system
Better efficiency of the car.
What you'll need:
10mm socket wrench
Phillips screwdriver
Garden hose
How to clean your Tesla Model 3 radiator:
Remove the front trunk liner.
Locate the radiator.
Use a garden hose to spray water into the radiator to remove dirt, leaves, and other debris.
Additional tips:
Be careful not to bend the radiator fins.
If you live in an area with a lot of pollen or road dust/debris, you may need to clean your radiator more frequently.
Use a gentle stream of water to clean the radiator, avoiding high-pressure hoses that could damage the delicate fins.
Avoid using a pressure washer, as this could damage the radiator.
By following these simple steps, you can keep your Tesla Model 3's air conditioning running smoothly and efficiently for years to come.
If you're not comfortable cleaning the radiator yourself, you can take your Tesla Model 3 to a car service centre.

Hello from Canada (Quebec). I did pretty much as you said : worked like a charm. It is noticeably less noisy and performs much much better. After almost 4 years, there was quite a bit of crap in there. I also took the time to clean out the surroundings, including the plate housing it and so forth. Thanks !

Thank you very much. I was trying to remove the black shield that is under the Frunk and you probably saved me an expensive repair! I used 2 short pieces of 2X4s and they held the shield open and I used a special vacuum tool and removed rocks and all kinds of debris. To add to this post. I used a vacuum tool that reached all the way to the bottom of the radiator (that is what I call it). I vacuumed 4 rocks (one over a half inch) a cigarette butt; 2 whole bumble bees and a bunch more leaves. You really need to use a vacuum carefully not to damage; the radiator is made well and quite sturdy, not like regular cars.

Thanks for this video mate. My 2022 M3 RWD is normally garaged at night at home, however I do a lot of motorway/highway driving as well as overnights in country places. My radiator was full of leaves and debris. I hadn’t run a service check to see what it was running like before however it was a similar situation to yours so I’m sure my efficiency will improve. Many thanks for the straightforward video as I am not a car guy at all!

I'm so glad it helped you. I had a look at the existing videos and they wanted you to take off the front bumper etc. I thought that must be an easy way. How long did it take you? Some people in the comments are saying that getting water in there will damage the radiator or something but thing is when you supercharge in cold weather heaps of steam is generated in that area which would condense on all of the components so I don't think it's too big of an issue as long as you just spray on the radiator.

I bought the front mesh grille and it solved the problem.

Nice I kinda feel like it should come from the factory like that, but maybe there's a reason why.

Well-done video and ancillary documentation! As I've owned my '21 M3SR+ for almost three years, I decided it was time to tackle this job, and your vid showed how easy it can be to perform. I live in the northeastern US (New Hampshire), and I expected many dead leaves and bugs to be trapped there, but it really wasn't too bad, so I think my 3-year interval between cleanings should work for me. Clean as a whistle now!

Great job! Saved me a bunch of extra, not-really-needed steps to do an adequate clean job. BTW, at 3:40 I usually carefully and completely stuff a rag under the place where a bold might drop into an impossible-to-reach chasm. If the bolt does drop it is easily recovered from the rag. Again thanks for the great video.

Interesting and helpful👍👍(unlike the one that literally made me giveup, seeing the amount of dismantling). Also wondering about use of the ac coil cleaner, before water spray, to help clean better. A custom 3d printed diffuser(similar to one used in hair dryers, just a bit slimmer), attachment to the garden hose, might help too. Look forward to more videos.❤👍

This video has the audio fixed, let me know if you have any questions on how to do this on your Tesla. After cleaning the radiator, those 40°, hot summer days are much easier to tolerate with functioning air-conditioning .

Does anyone know a vid on how to fully remove the cover? I got a bunch of crap out with compressed air. Started raining before i could use water, ironically. So i had to button everything up. Part of me would rather just have full access to the radiator. Thank you for this vid.
@Lens_Addict
@Lens_Addict 3 дня назад
The documentation in the Tesla service manual shows you how to get full access to the radiator, but I didn't want to do it that way as it's way more complicated and involves removing the front bumper etc

There is a cooling fan behind the air-conditioning radiator. Can the air-conditioning radiator be cleaned directly by flushing it with water? Will it damage the electronic parts in the car?

I think it should be fine. when it rains also enters in here

Brother, you have temporarily cleaned the radiator, but it is not a good way to clean it. In this way, only the dirt etc. from above will be cleaned, but if the dirt etc. is stuck inside it, we The best way to clean it is to open it completely and wash it and fit it properly

Do you have to disconnect the 12v battery or did you do it with the battery on?

Oh, okay. I just wanted to be sure. Absolutely fantastic video. I just did this 30 minutes ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have a water hose so I used a vacuum. My fan still runs a bit loud but not as loud as before. I would say the noise level dropped about 50%. I'll take that as a win and try again when I get access to a water hose.

Thank you for your video. I was worried I had to replace the super manifold or compressor. Washed out and was super plugged up, due to me driving out in the agricultural farming area.
