using ammonia or cleaners that contain ammonia is safer being as ammonia turns acid inert therefore harmless baking soda can foam up and get blown back into and on to eyes and clothing use Windex with ammonia D spray with Windex then rinse with running water much safer

I'd add to use hot water. I put some on my 2021 era Interstate car battery, 2005 Ford Crown Victoria. It cleared it away, removed the crud quickly.

Good tutorial! Try not to get the soda mixture towards the battery caps. It can flow into the cells and degrade it's performance.

I highly recommend Ncp2 battery corrosion preventative spray and distilled water

waste of money. This will neutralize the corrosion and stop it if cleaned properly

I am not sure if you want the petro jelly inside the terminals if it is not a conductor. Put it on the outside after both terminals are tightened.

I thought my 2 year old battery on my Audi was almost dead as it said "discharging" every time I started the car for a week. Atfer cleaning the corrosion and reseating the cables, the car starts right up and no more errors. Just saved a good $699

Just need the hot water. Take terminals off clean with hot water use some dielectric grease and put everything back together

@@drippingwax The main difference between Dielectric Grease and Vaseline is that the dielectric grease is mainly used for sealing and protecting the electrical circuits and components while Vaseline is majorly used for coating the equipment parts to prevent them from corroding. The preserving strength of the dielectric Grease is more than the Vaseline.

Nice I did that but I didnt detach the car cables. didnt have the right hardware but I just washed around the battery.

That's what I did, but I came back the next day and my battery has white residue on it. I may not have washed the battery well enough? But I did use about a cup of warm water to wash it..... I didn't wipe the water away with a cloth but with that much water I didn't I needed to. Blegh I hope the residue comes off.

Not a helpful video because the battery wasn’t dirty with corrosion so there was no foaming action. Also the music was terribly distracting and unnecessary

I used a mix of powder baking soda, hot water(tap water). I was surprised by how fast the mix seemed to remove the crud, acid build up. I let the car battery, 2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX sedan: 2021 Interstate car battery dry for 12hr too.

I strongly suggest you change the title of this video. The title plainly states to clean your battery terminals you 'only' use Baking Soda and Hot Water. Yet only 7 or 8 seconds into the video you also list needing gloves, a toothbrush, a clean cloth, Vaseline, safety googles plus a 10mm wrench. That's considerably more than just baking soda and hot water.

I got a battery for my car probably four years ago. Nothing was completely corroded and I’m not sure why the Subaru outback is corrode so easy I’m getting ready for winter here in Minneapolis. It’s a nice day 59°F and we’re doing some last-minute snow blower prep, and battery charging. ⚡️ ⚡️
