The Purpose of Braille Skateboarding is to grow the number of people who skateboard by teaching, motivating, and inspiring. We do this by making skateboard tutorial videos covering every how to skateboard video under the sun moon and stars. By learning ourselves and showing that no matter how old or young, you can learn to skate. Part of this is also providing a suggested path to take in learning to skate. Then we inspire NEW people to learn to skate by making videos outside the very small world of skateboarding. We turn an ipad into a skateboard, skate on a big screen TV, and even a door. We focus not only on the creativity here but building the board and then all the way through to seeing what tricks can be done on it. Skaters have always been a creative bunch of people they take the normal ideas of society and change it to create their own world. Most people see a set of stairs we see a kick flip going down them. Our goal here is to take people that may never of thought of skateboarding before and get them on a board.
Brand enquiries please contact kylie@brailleskateboarding.com
I have created many ways to achieve the above goal and will list them all below. Different ways for different people so have a look through and see what fits you best.
“You Make it We Skate it” - our most popular series enjoyed bo skaters and non skaters alike - • YOU MAKE IT WE SKATE IT
“Skate anything” - our series where we search out what we can possibly make skate able - • SKATE ANYTHING
Skate board tutorials - learn for free and on your own on RU-vid - • LEARN TO SKATEBOARD VI...
“Worst Board at the Park” - we find the worst board and replace it with a new one for tricks. Its all love supporting the community - • WORST BOARD AT THE PARK
Skate support - need help with that trick well watch the video here and send in your clip. We will do our best to make the video quickly but we have a lot of submissions. The end result gets posted on @Brailleskate Instagram - www.brailleska...
“Skateboarding Made Simple” - instead of RU-vid tutorials where you can get lost here is a guided lesson plan to take you through the basics and beyond. Instant digital download and get started - www.brailleska...
Skateboard coaching - this is a totally new idea in the world of skateboarding. Get a list of tricks to learn in and submit your clips to a skateboard coach who walks you through how to land them. This is done through direct text messages and video sharing. The best way to guarantee success on your board as you have a person there to help, guide, and motivate you. This service is called “Braille Army Plus” and is a membership with a lot of benefits - www.brailleska...

My 1st board I owned was a Walmart board. How do you assume plastic trucks are a good idea? How do your bearing come out of the package like they've already been skated through Lake Erie? How do you manage having a worse turning radius than a county fair pirate ship ride? How? How Walmart?? HOW?!?

A few tips I have to add: -You can use hydrogen peroxide to clean the bearings with -you can use a tac to remove the white plastic part on the back of the bearing so you can be more thorough with your cleaning, if the bearing and the balls fall apart, you can still put them back together with a little patience -use an old tooth brush to scrub out the dirt -you can also use sewing machine oil to relube your bearings

I use a bones bearing cleaner bottle and a non petroleum based citrus degreaser (that part is important, do not use wd-40 or anything like that) Place the bearings in the bottle on the spacer provided, fill the bottle to 1/3 - 1/2 full of degreaser, shake the shit out if it (for best results, empty the degreaser, and do this a second time. After this, blast the bearings with an air compressor or a can of compressed air until they are completely dry. Chuck in 1-2 drops of bones speed cream. After about an hour of skating, the speed cream should work its way into the bearings and they will be running at their best. I do this regularly on my bones swiss ceramic bearings (i know i sound like i am trying to sell you all bones products, but they just really know bearings and are my personal preference.

As a guy who works with industrial bearings all the time, I wouldn't bother buying a brand of grease marketed for skateboarding. What you're most likely getting is a small amount of lithium grease for a high price. I would recommend 3in1 lithium spray on grease. It's probably 10 times the amount of grease for about the same price. Tested it on my skateboard bearings and it works great. It is designed for bearings and high temperature applications (friction). Just giving my 2 cents. Great video as always guys, you're a great inspiration and true embodiment of the spirit of skateboarding 😊.
@stephenstruble5064
@stephenstruble5064 7 лет назад
Evan Smirnow Thanks! A lot of skate companies false advertise and overprice certain things, (Lucky, World Industries, Blind) so it can be difficult to find a good product for the right price sometimes. By lithium grease do you mean something like WD40? Last I checked WD40 isn't actually a lubricant. I mean, I used it on some really old bearings once and it was fine, but I'd rather get the speed cream for my new bearings because it's formulated for these bearings and certain bearings have different metals and I'm not sure what would be the best treatment for them.
@Bufflapierre
@Bufflapierre 7 лет назад
Stephen Struble No, not WD40, it turns into a hard lacquer after a while and will seize up the bearings. Lithium grease spray will say it on the bottle and usually comes out white or opaque. The brand I recommended was 3-in-1 brand, but that's just the one I use. Should be in the same section as WD40 though.
@stephenstruble5064
@stephenstruble5064 7 лет назад
Evan Smirnow I was doing some research and they said to stay away from white lithium grease for almost the same reason to not use WD40. I guess the white lithium grease is made for bigger parts and so it can be harsh on the bearings over time.

For those who's bearings are very, very tight in the wheels, I found this to help a lot. Set down your board with an empty axle facing away from you, and put the first half of the wheel onto the truck. Then, push, alternating edges of the wheel, using *ONLY YOUR THUMBS*. Depending on how tight in the wheel your bearing is, this may take a little bit of time, but it's definitely the fastest way to take them out.

@WeezyFBaby243 2 года назад
So the grip side down?
@georgehiggins1320
@georgehiggins1320 2 года назад
@@WeezyFBaby243 yup. The trucks should be on top of the board. Just make sure that the board is firmly in place and you can gradually loosen every side of the bearing by using the axle to gently pry it out a little bit at a time.

Some tips. Never use compressed air to remove debris. Wd40 means water displacement 40. Citrus cleaners are water based so make sure you get all of it out and apply your lubricant right away to prevent pitting and corrosion. The noise you hear is essentially the slack from wear. A great thing you can do to do prolong bearing life is remove water as soon as possible. I spend a lot of time in hotels so on a pinch use that hair dryer on your board! Edit: I’m a ten year auto tech that works for an eccentric billionaire .

Hey Aaron, I have a suggestion for rain bearings. What I currently use is a set of VXB abec 7 (got them for 12$ in montreal, it's usually more expensive in canada than USA), they have removable rubber caps that I remove and throw away so when I roll in water and dirt it goes in but it all goes out as fast, because it's obvious that it will get in anyway. I would clean bearings from a good board but my rain bearings on my plastic board are not silent but super fast even with the rain after3months

What works really good for me is to take a small container that the bearings fit in and I put them in 2 at a time and then fill it up a little bit with lighter fluid (this is not a joke) and then shake them a little. It helps to take the bearing covers off. Lighter fluid has naptha in it which is a great degreaser and is liquid thin so it gets into all the tiny spaces. This should only take about a minute per batch. Once you get them out, lay them on a paper towel and maybe take some compressed air or even just blow on them and it will dry the lighter fluid almost immediately, try giving them a few spins while doing this. Once they are dry MAKE SURE you add your lubricant of choice or else they will rust as the lighter fluid will remove ANY trace of oil in the bearing. Put the shields back on and repeat till you get them all done. This should be obvious but do not have ANY open flame around while you are doing this. As far as the left over fluid in the container you can just squeeze the bottle of lighter fluid and suck the fluid back into it. Clean up the container and stow away for future use.

Then you wanna spin each bearing in your finger until they all spin really fast and feel smooth, then just add a few drops of 3in1 oil before putting the seals back in and your ready to shred! been running some bearings for years like this. Its a tedious job but I always do a full overhaul whenever I got a new deck. Rubber shields are easier to remove and keep dirt out better then metal shields. Even the best bearings are slow if you let them get dirty!

I like mineral spirits or charcoal lighter fluid. They don't smell good but use them outside or at least with good ventilation. You can get either of the two cheap but the mineral spirits is cheaper. It helps to get most of the grease of first and use a parts brush. Wear gloves and googles. You can use other solvents too but you don't need special expensive ones, unless they are proven to work better than anything else they are a gimmick.

I used to throw mine in a jar of lacquer thinner or paint thinner (whichever my dad had laying around) and leave it overnight. That liquid would be pitch black the next day. I'd fish the bearings out, give them a squirt of 3-in-1, and throw them back on. Probably way too harsh for nice bearings like Bones Swiss, but we ran Speed Demons or whatever else was cheapest back in the day and it seemed alright.

I am 35 and just now getting back into skateboarding. But, I used to be a dedicated indoor roller skater and I've worked as a floor guard also so I know a bit about bearings. I used to use Kerosene but soaking overnight would ruin them. orange cleaner wasn't invented yet and I just cleaned my 40 dollar Dunhams skateboard bearings like Aaron suggested and even though they spun better than a Wal-Mart board, now they spin almost as fast as my Swiss rollerskate bearings. I use vegetable oil cuz I used to race and regular bearing maintenance is a must so, my bearings will be oiled more frequently anyways.

Unless you use WD-40 with the straw to thoroughly clean the bearings (please make sure you wear protective glasses as well as gloves) & then put the bearing(s) in brake cleaner. After that, wait for them to dry & put lubricant/grease/oil.
