This is my first time leaving a pool open all summer and using chemicals. The water is sparkling and clean and balanced since I got it filled 2 months ago (2k gallon pool) I'm still learning new things everyday. My neighbors pool is about 15k gallons and cloudy and nasty and they invited me to come over swimming, ewww, disgusting!! I found that I find it relaxing screening out debris that falls or flies in and vacuuming the bottom clean. It's been a fun learning experience.

I was wondering what that rinse was for 🤦🏽‍♀️….every time I backed wash dirt would spill back into the pool when I put it on filter.

My experiences are that the floculant will stay in the water long enough to vacuum two or maybe three times. With each vac time more and more debris is being removed.

Great video would be nice to see the alternatives to Bio guard That stuff is excellent but it’s so expensive. When my salt pool goes cloudy, I go straight to the pH alkalinity and chlorine little baking soda chlorine granules, and some clarifier usually does the trick

Great job! Pool looks so much better. You are also right about the CYA. I have a swg and add CYA manually whenever necessary (I like to have a value of around 25, it protects enough against UV and with the 7.5% rule 2 to 2.5 ppm chlorine is sufficient. Whenever bonded chlorine is above 0.3 I shock using liquid chlorine as it doesn't have any CYA and unlike cal hypo it doesn't contain calcium. Only disadvantage is you cannot store it for more than 6 months. Thanks for the video and best regards. Forgot to mention that for floculantI use flovil which is a tablet you put in the skimmer. It improves the filter and works great.

Great video! Quick question, you had mentioned if you were to add to much of the synthetic clarifier it may have a reverse effect 😬 so I'm wondering what can I do if I added to much and my pool is still cloudy. Thanks keep up the good videos!

Thanks Kyle and over clarifying cloudiness only last a couple days so if your Pool don't clear up by then try a filter aid if you have a skimmer. I use biogaurd sparkle up.

U wanna keep ur filter on when u add floc. I worked in commercial pools for 24 years and we had view ports on our filters. The floc creates a film on the sand bed and creates a layer of finer filtration than the sand. Also stops u having to do as much vaccing in the pool too. You can also extend the life of ur sand in the filter by adding hypo to the filter (40-60ppm) for at least an hour then backwash multiple times. Dirt over time binds to the sand and reduces efficiency. The shock dose to sand breaks a lot of the dirt off the sand
@brtsnx86

Hypo? Cal hypo?
@adrianmiles7678
@adrianmiles7678 2 месяца назад
@@brtsnx86 yeah cal is better as liquid usually only gets to 30-35%. U can use liquid hypo, just need enough to cover the sand and let it sit for 1-2 hours.

floc did nothing - particles still look suspended (did not fall to the bottom) we followed the Bioguard directions - we tried to vacuum but it's tough as we can't see the bottom - any further advice?
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary Год назад
Sometimes floc does take up to 48 hours to settle out really small particulate in the pool water such as pollen and other debris in the pool water like it. I have had similar situations where the floc didn't work also about 1 out of 20 pools. In this situation we did a partial drain on the pool water and used a clarifier with a cellulose filter aid known as sparkle up. It took the filter about 5 days to clear up the water doing it this way but we were in the same position you are in and it was the only other option besides a full drain which we couldn't do because it had a vinyl liner and we didn't want it to take a month to clear up on its own. I'm sorry your going through this with your pool and your situation is rare. I will let you know if I can think of any easier cures.

Great video! You covered so much useful information! I have a question about the Floc. I have heard you have to be careful with it because it can ruin your filter. So after you do the first vacuum, is it then safe to put the filter back to filter (vs recirculate)? Or what should I look for to know it’s safe to do so? Thanks!
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary 4 месяца назад
Yes you can resume filtering after your first vacuum. Floc doesn't necessarily ruin filters it just tends to plug them up fast and they require cleaning.

My pool was like yours I through shock in it about 4 gallons one day then another 4 left it for a day or two and the pool got really cloudy. I test strip it and my reading: total hardness = 120, total chlorine =1, free chlorine =0, Bromine =0, total Alkalinity =80, cyanuric acid = 0, PH = 7.6 Another guy on you told says if you have normal or low chlorine and Ph is 7.6 its microscopic add another 4 gals of shock. Sorry for the burden my sons' friends want to get into the pool.

@Poolelementary

Yes you can swim in the pool even though it's cloudy. We just recommend not swimming if you can't see the bottom of the deep end just in case someone was to have a swimming accident. you need to be able to see them to get them out.

Hi, I’m on day 3 of green to clean. I shocked level and maintained for two days. Green is completely gone but now it’s cloudy. I’m trying hard not to floc but I guess that means patience? I tasted the water and the chlorine has been at max level since I shocked this morning with no noticeable loss. My ph was on the low side so I added some and brought it up to 7.2. CYA is good also. The filter seems to be running pretty well and smooth. I cleaned the pump basket (and skimmer basket) and even blew out the line with a wet dry vac because I saw some tiny bubbles come out the jet. I still may have to vac right from the jet in case there’s something in there. Two other jets haven’t worked since we bought the house but the pool was clear a little last summer and everyone tells me it will run fine on the one jet. I added the recommended phosphate reducer this afternoon as well. Still cloudy. I’m going to start using the clarifier tonight and hope for the best. Any advice will be greatly appreciated though!
@Poolelementary
@Poolelementary Год назад
Sounds like your doing everything right and the clarifier is a must to help your filter get the cloudy water clear faster. The one return will do the job but is going to make it take a bit longer being there might be some slow moving water areas in the pool. Good luck 👍

@@Poolelementary day 4 here and I can see the floor in the shallow end!! Woohoo! Still a little cloudy in the deep end, but everything on this mornings test still shows maxed out chlorine, got my ph to 7.5, cya at 40. I’m going to add more clarifier specifically in the deep end then the fun begins. I purchased a $900 robotic vacuum but said to my myself I won’t even open it until I can see the pool floor. So I see I have a little vacuuming to do. Thanks again and again and again for your videos!

I’m in the same shape shallow end clear deep not clear …I know my phosphates are high at 700…clarifier was added. Some reason my cya fluctuates in readings tested water at store said 35, test strips here say sometimes 30 sometimes none. Have wondered if phosphate is ruining levels, but scared to add phosfree I don’t know why maybe bc they don’t say what’s in the bottle (?) curious if you know about phosfree..I did see sparkle free at the Walmart and ordered phosfree on Amazon…I have a sand filter and a salt pool salt 3050 level now
