Nice video. We had our hot tub professionally winterized last Fall and didn’t use it this year. Does antifreeze need to be applied annually if it wasn’t used for a season? The cover had plywood and a tarp over it so it’s unlikely any water got in, but I’ll check to make sure that was the case.
The pool in the video was closed for 7 months during the winter and never treated during the closure. Once the Temps got in the 70s it was game over and we got the algae bloom as seen in the video.
I followed instructions and replaced the seals and all the gaskets. I still have a lead that seems to be coming through the channel below the diffuser. I was told not to use lube on the pump seal. Is that the most likely place for the leak?
Thanks for the good information, my unit is pre-1998(1986) you mention the J3-2 seal plate insert. I have replaced the motor a couple times but I have never seen this seal plate insert, how important is it? and where is it actually located? Great Video.
I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed. I don't know anything about a pool & I just became a pool owner. I have products but I don't know what to do for real 😢
At about 5:35 you take the plate off the motor but do not specify how. I tried prying and gentle tapping but it doesn't move. I'm afraid of cracking it. How did you do it?
Hi there like your video! Why is my hose sucked too much both ends, that the vacuum head can’t move at all? I had to stop the pump all the time to unhook the hose both ends. Also can I vacuum without changing to filter position in the filter? Thanks a million
I have heard of this working but my question is why do we get algae still when most pools have copper heat exchanges on the pool heater? Most are 5 to 10 pounds of copper pipes.
@@Poolelementary My best guess is that the cut ends of the copper pieces interact with the chelation process... The heat exchanger fittings are all closed with solder joints. Maybe? Just a guess but it really seems to work.
This is great info. I have been hiring someone to close the pool for winter and open in spring but this time I have to do it myself. I have done a lot of research and I now feel confident that I can do it; your videos have given me that confidence. Thanks. There is only one thing I am still not so sure about - my pool heater (Hayward) does not seem to have any drain valve. Am I missing something?
Very complete. Always had good camera angles to see everything that was being done. Good advice along the way. I learned several simple, but key items that made may efforts successful. The only thing I found different was that I was able to fit the 7/16 inch wrench behind the centrifugal switch, without removing the "white V-shaped" switch. Thanks for the video!
🎉 Hi There ..Thank You so much for the trainingbon how to vacu your pool . One question , as this is a first for me I was thinking the hose end goes into the weir but uou said into the skimmer . Please kindly advise me on this , as I dont want to make a mess up . Thank You Doreen
Your welcome and yes just run the hose through the skimmer opening on the pool wall and attach it to the suction hole in the bottom of your skimmer housing.
I just swaped a 3/4hp motor in my 1.5hp. Now it runs for a few minutes and turns off. I followed every step listed here. Any ideas? Its getting 115v, wired for 115
My grandson, who is 7 years old, loves watching your videos and is becoming quite knowledgeable wrt to pool maintenance! Greetings from Windhoek, Namibia 🇳🇦
