Thanks. We just adopted one a few days ago and she’s got bloody snot all over. 🤢 but I’m trying to take care of her. Already took her to the vet for her eye infections and shots.
Same, it was not helpful at all. Even found a few things that made no sense. Giving all those treats....not sure why and wiping both eyes mouth face with same cloth. Eyes first with clean cloth. Those teeth are clean!

My cat has feline herpes and hes fine except for a really gross nose and LOTS of snot. Antibiotics help a little but the snot is permanent. It bothers me because hes constantly blowing air bubbles and and always has snot running from his nose and its always really thick so I found a way to help him breathe better by getting him to blow his nose :) I take a piece of cat hair that is thick and long and just tickle the inside of one of his nostrils at a time and he always sneezes really hard and blows his snot rockets out really hard out through that nostril and keep repeating the process for each nostril until his nose is clear! Then I give him one drop of nasal decongesting nose drops in one nostril (safe for cats) He blows really thick, long and goopy snot rockets and he seems to always feel a lot better and happier after i do it because for a couple hours he can breathe a lot better and he doesnt have snot in or hanging from his nose! Its pretty gross to do cause it can get on me or my hand but its worth it to make him happy.
Start your cat on Lysine (there are both powders you can mix in food as well as paste you can put on their paw). you will need to keep this up for the rest of their lives. Goes a long way toward keeping herpes in check
Very nice and clear video. BIG problem though - if you use a cloth or pad to wipe your kittens' eyes and/ or nose - you must not use the same pad, or area of the cloth or you are going to likely be passing any potential infection from one eye to the other and then to the nose. I use 100% cotton make up pads, rounds or squares; cut them in half and keep a sterile jar (with a lid on when not using). I use 1/2 of a make up pad per eye and and a fresh half or two for the nose. throw away immediately, I also do like wash cloths and/or the gauge squares this vet used because the bit of 'texture' does a good clean up of the tear tracts and the face in general. However, do ensure that you use a separate are of the cloth or square, for each eye and for the face and/or nostrils so you do not cross-contaminate. Jeanne Purrfectly Exotics and Persians since 1971
Eyes are connected to the sinus (aka respiratory) system. Are all connected so if an infection is being treated, it is being treated regardless of where it is present. Also, this was called a "demonstration". I'm sorry you didn't get your veterinary degree, but your comments here won't make that happen either! And I don't have veterinary degree, but I do understand how bacterial infections and their treatments work.
my cat had this problem. He was very weak. I live in Bangladesh, we don't have good vets here. I was really scared. He was getting worse. I found a doctor online and called him, I barely said anything and he said the cat needs 5 injections. The injections were almost done but he was not getting better. So I kept searching online and found this Iranian doctor. I went to him he took a good look at my cat ,prescribed me some medicine and gave him some injections. He got better after some days. I am always thankful to that doctor . He is awesome l, Buddy(my cats name) didn't fully recover yet .I keep giving him the medicine and he keeps getting better day by day. Thanx a lot to that doctor.A LOT!!!😢😢☺☺☺😊😀
BluePants Gaming hi,I am in dhaka too... my kitten caught cold after bathing her.. I don't know what to do,she only drinks milk..doesn't eat anything else and ix getting thin..
Stop giving her milk. Milk is not good for cats, it gives them diarrhea. Instead give her lots of water and if she won't eat hard food, try her on some canned kitten food or rice with boiled chicken.
Just take a long cat whisker and insert the thinnest end way up into the cat's nasal passage and tickle the inside of its nose. This should cause the cat to sneeze and expel a lot of mucus. You may have to do it several times on both nostrils. Have a tissue ready to catch the mucus is it comes out of the nose. You should notice the cat can breathe easier after the mucus is expelled. The underlying infection still needs to be cured, but at least this will allow the cat to breathe better for a while. When their nasal passages get congested again, just repeat the process.
Thanks! I wonder if my cat has something stuck up his nose, it is only leaking and sneezy on one side and his mouth where the whiskers are is swollen as well ( after anti biotic). Ideas?
Kitten colds are so common, but even tiny kittens can recover and grow to be healthy cats. Please #AdoptDontShop and give a home to a kitten or cat in need :-) One of our rescues had a terrible cold when he was just a tiny kitten and now he's a wild and crazy, fun-loving ginger goofball!
I had a cat years ago which was born with just one eye. He was always snotty-nosed, in the same side nostril as his lacking eye. But he was okay, and just as good a hunter as other cats, no problem for him to have just one eye!: )
Erling Andreassen did you name him one eyed Jack oh, that's a good name ! Does he ever tell you in cat language, " I'll keep an eye out for ya Ma" God bless his little soul and yours 🐾🐺👁👀👁
I was waiting for Bob to see the treat she set beside him, then they cut the video. I feel cheated. Wait, watched 10 seconds longer and he found it. All is good.
Swear all these vet videos are like: 'Here we have a video about how to relieve congestion in a kitten and we will be demonstrating this on an adult cat without congestion. In out next video we will show you how to burrito towel a half dead cat on valium. Stay tuned!'
I had a cat, she wasnt eating and she got sick. She kept throwing up yellow foam and then she just stopped drinking and throwing up the foam. She just dry heaved. She was really skinny, she went from 12 pounds to 6 pounds in a week. I got worried, so we began force feeding her with a bottle and formula. *(She as an old cat. Some nights I'd watch her sleep and she'd make squeaky noises.) * Well, one day she was laying down and I got ready to give her her bottle, when I noticed some sores on her shoulders. She had gotten better between, where when we first found the problem I took care of her and gave her wet food, thinking she was just old and couldn't crunch the dry food. Then after she got better, I didn't pay too much attention to how much she ate, but she got worse, and worse, and worse. Finally, when we found the sores we took her to a vet. The vet took her to a room with us and had her lay down. She was freaked out and so the vet gave her a shot to calm her down and make her sleepy, but.. It did make her sleepy, you could say. It was all that took for her to finally have peace. It was in January towards March. She's resting now. I never found out what was wrong with her, but this made me think of her. Maybe she had a flu?
Sounds like cancer. Same thing happened to my cat max, had to put him down at 12 yo. He didn't show us any signs til right at the end. It's wild instinct for cats not to show signs of sickness and weakness to avoid becoming prey. Vet said it happens that way often.
what is the breed of this beautiful kitty? Honestly looks identical to my 3 year old Koda. I have been trying to find out what mix he could have been but since I don't know his biological parents it's different when I ask a vet.
I'm nursing a 5 week old kitten that was abandoned by its mother. I have been running the hot shower water which seems to help a bit. But I am wondering something. Can I adopt Bob? Pleaease? Beautiful cat.
I have a cat with chronic congestion, has been checked with several vets, antibiotics, nebulizer, etc. What do you recommend in the vaporizer? I have been using sea salt and vinegar for germs...also would you think infrared sauna would help and how often? Here it is hard cold winter so they like the vaporizer. Thanks for your video.
Kater Caters to Cats your cat probably have herpes virus.... many cats get it and it causes chronic upper respiratory infections and congestion. Mine has it and always has a stuffy nose and then a few times a year gets an upper respiratory infection. There's no cure but it was recommended that I get L-Lysine to boost her immune system bc the virus makes it very low. I got it in a powder form and just sprinkle it in her food. I also make sure to always wipe her nose to make sure it's clear. Other than than she is a normal kitty but I just have to keep a closer watch on her. I know this is an old comment but I hope it helps... good luck! ❤️
Thanks for answering...I took the cat to a holistic dr. and he took a test on her hair, and prescribed 3 drops of hemp oil a day for 3 months...maybe you would like to try that, I see they have such on amazon.... I'm on fourth day...only....she has labored breathing and is probably 13 years old...and has had a mastectomy so there is lymph node action....his testing showed...doxycycline could not help at this time...I do not understand the msa base point readings report, I will have to look it up.
@@Faesharlyn - Just FYI, sometimes "real" doctors can't help at all. Best help my cats EVER got was from my own research on homeopathic and natural products. Vets helped to clear out my bank account and leave my pet sicker.
Little Lamb well said!! Vets are soooo Bloody expensive & I prefer homeopathic/natural remedies for my own maladies & that certainly goes for our fur children as well 😻😸
My cat has a clogged (dry) nose sound .. makes that stuffy sound but it’s a dry sound ... almost like there is a growth. So far vet put her on antibiotics... but I hear no difference

OK, so my kitten has been to the vet, feels much better since finishing the medicine. There is no discharge anywhere, but he is still congested. He is eating, drinking, plays 50 times more like a mad kitten. Paws, ears, and nose are all cool to the touch. I have been (as told to me by the vet,) Generic zerteck..... but nothing has changed. :( Not sure what to do!!
We have two to three dozen outside barn cats. They all have green and yellow snot coming out of their noses. The cats are a bit skittish. Handling them can be a problem. What can be done to take care of all the cats at a good price ?? Thanks
I’ve had my cat since I was 6 and we put her on meds for a year since she always sounded congested the moment I got her. Since it didn’t work we stopped. I’m 19 now with the same cat and she’s very old now and still sounds as congested as ever. Can anyone give me advice on this?
Contact a company called Amber Naturalz and see if you can get Vivactra or if you can find it. Amazon does not sell it anymore. It took 3 weeks for my cat to get better. I also quarantined them separately.I like natural meds for my pets. Separate water and feeding bowls. Alit of work, but they depend on us to take care of them.
Talk to the pharmacist. Get a simple one, walmart if you can. A nebulizer does help. Check water pan after each use for sediment in the water. Do not use vicks, just plain water.
Great video love the cat...my cat is really blocked with mucus and sneezing. Is Eucalyptus oil good to use under his paws? I have also made appointment at a vet.
Cats are highly allergic to eucalyptus oil. It's unfortunate as it such a good all rounder for both cleaning and disinfecting. In fact any essential oil, including tea tree, citrus oils and pine will cause a toxic reaction in cats.
Hi, I hope you can help me. I rescued a 2 month old kitten that is ill. Paralized and very thin. When he started to walk again I thought we are almost surpassing the problem but to my nightmare he couldn't stand nor move his front legs again. Physically deteriorating despite feeding 4-5 times a day. Now he seems having a breating issue but I can't afford vet expenses. What should I do?
@@fredsilvers1427 hi thanks for asking. So I was able to bring it to the vet but they ignored my concern about his breathing issue. I let him take the medicine they prescribed but tig died the next day. I wanna get mad with the vet but I know it will no longer bring the kitten's life😢
I have an 18yr-old female Maine Coon mix that recently started sounding stuffed up. We treated her with liquid Azithromycin for 10 days a few months back for chronic coughing fits, and that seemed to clear up. However, starting about a month ago, I started noticing what sounded like sporadic sinusitis. The vet had her on another 10 days of the Azithromycin, and while the symptoms seem slightly better, I notice that immediately after eating, she sounds very congested. This seems to last for five minutes or so, and then the stuffiness does not seem as apparent. Any clues as to what this could be, and a best way to approach a diagnosis?
How long on the Azithromycin before noticing an improvement? Mine got an injection of antibiotics and then 15 days of the Azithromycin... (every 24 hrs for 5 days and then every other day for 10 days). I'm 2 doses into the treatment.
My cat has been to the vet for so many time already and my doc is just scary and also i dont have enough for the bills yet Shasha nose has been clog for so long but i only realized it now after hearing her breath through her nose after i spray her with human nose spray and the smell also confirms it i hope thisll help

She was a rescue kitten thal almost died from ma l nutriytiin at 5 weeks. Had her cough ever since. She is taking a prescription immune booater.
My 13 year old cat looks exactly like this one! He recently started purring really loudly and it sounds weird. Squeaky like a pigeon. He also swallows a lot when hes purring like he has a post nasal drip or something stuck in there. Hes been doing this for around 2 weeks now. It doesnt seem like it is subsiding. He does NOT seem to have nose or eye discharge. My vet didnt give me any answers to why this could be happening. He wont take Benedryl or Zyrtec in a treat. :( Anyone have any experience that can suggest other courses of action?

I took my cat to the vet recently and got medication for him that has worked well for congestion and sneezing. My cat has had a problem with his nose being closed shut since the day I picked him up at the Humane society 11 years ago. He was been pawing at his nose everyday since. I've taken him to 5 vets and none of them have helped my cat. I'm ready to take him up to THE INCREDIBLE DR. POL in Michigan to see if he can find the right antibiotic to treat my cat properly. I feel really bad looking at my sweet cat everyday in misery. The bridge of his nose is so swollen and the x-rays showed up white along the bridge of his swollen nose and on both sides of his nose, which is his sinus cavities. When Toby sneezes out comes green mucus. Does anyone know what the white on a x-ray means? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My cat is getting is having this problem and its dying slowly :'( It won't jump up anymore when I open the door. It just lies there looking beaten like he's given up on life :'( . I would take him to the vet but the its so expensive in my area. All I can do is watch it die slowly, I'm hurting so much right now
+Joeli Sausau So you sat and watched him die rather than surrender him so he can be treated? People like you make me sick. Stop taking in animals you can't afford to care for. At some point, every cat will need to see a vet or need treatment, just like you will see a doctor at some point in your life. If you adopt a small kitten, then set aside a few buck every month for the inevitable.
Half of this was vet talk. I'd find out about this later. Anyways. I've cleaned his face and there is little to no discharge but, it's still going on. How many people would take their cats in the shower??
+Crystal Gonzales Not literally in the shower, just keep them in the bathroom with you as you shower. The steam will humidify the room and help clear the cat's sinuses. :) Just be sure to put a towel down for them to lay on.
Actually I took my kitten in the shower and held her to help her breath and now every time I take a shower she sits beside the tub and waits for me to open the curtain a little so she can jump on the side of the tub and be picked up and held and cuddle . It's now just one more thing that makes her unique and special !!!!
+Dylan Hunt It really depends on the condition. Humidity may help with allergy or virus related issues, but sinusitis from an bacterial infection might get worse with more moisture- it allows easier biofilm formation. [Cooled boiled distilled] water with some pure sea salt (10:1 or higher ratio) dropped into the nose is better in the latter case. *by dropped, I mean a few drops in each nostril- more can cause drainage into the lungs, potential pneumonia, etc
