Great reference video. I have cloned two HHDs to SSD (one laptop and one desktop) without issue and am getting ready to do my third (a desktop). The difference in boot time between an HHD and an SSD is amazing. (10x faster). People think they need a new computer if it is running slow. Most people have so much junkware and bloatware and start-up programs running that they don't need. Clean that up and install an SSD. I just use Western Digital Blue (1 TB and a usb to SATA cable, $80 and $11 respectively, mailorder from A-----z--n) Thank you for doing this video.

Side note! Make sure your new disk you want to clone match the old disk GPT or MBR If they don't match, your new disk will NOT boot! Easy way is to check in CMD when you've attached the new disk, then run DISKPART and look to see if both are the same or if the original old disk is GPT or MBR you need to either change the new disk to match the old drive or visa versa. Mine older laptop was GPT but the new ssd was MBR. GPT is said to be better in the fact it can could many more partitions on the drive if say you need more than 4 partitions, which is the max in MBR

If they don’t match, do I have to restart the whole process?

I was following along with same WD SSD (but 500GB) and even the source disk is 1TB like yours. Half way through your steps, I got an error message that said something like there wouldn't be enough space for a boot disk, but I had an option to continue anyway. So it continued just like yours almost all the way through the cloning process, but I just received a message that cloning had failed. I forgot where it told me to look for details before closing out, so I'm not sure why it failed. Could it be that there is data written on the source disk far beyond the gigabyte range of the SSD? Meaning, is there's a partition near the end of the TB HDD, then there isn't enough space on the 500GB SSD to capture it? Just an idea, as I'm not sure what happened.

Recently I purchased a brand new Western Digital Blue SATA SSD drive with a less than $10 usb to sata cable. I downloaded Acronis True Image software and the software's clone section does not recognize my disc. However, when I go to the "add new drive" section it shows. Is it OK to initialize it? Would it then be recognized by the software? I also tried Hasleo but it wouldn't let me clone the drive either. What would be the solution in this kind of scenario? Thank you for your help!!

When do you use the Manual mode instead of Automatic? Is it true if your source drive is MBR you need to initialize the new SSD with a Simple Volume before you start the clone?

This process is so confusing because i often try this cloning process with my Acronis True Image software and have a non bootable SSD when i'm done. According to Acronis, you're supposed to put the NEW SSD into the internal HDD slot and connect the original HDD to the USB adapter. Even when i do that, i still get a SSD that's non bootable. The cloning process is not as simple as most of these videos make it appear. There are so many things that go wrong during the cloning and Acronis had terrible customer support once the product comes off warranty after just one year.

I was disappointed with Acronis True Image for Western Digital. I used it to clone from a WD hdd to a same size WD ssd. Since this is the software which comes with a purchase of a WD ssd. The result were clones that seemed to work but not quite right. Upon Windows start up the clones would default to having chkdsk check the drive. Then I noticed some programs would not start normally. I tried some other freewares without success. Some like Macrium Home 8 worked for cloning from a hdd to another hdd but gave up with an error 8 when cloning from a hdd to ssd or ssd to ssd. AOMEI Backupper is not free. Hitting the "start cloning" button results in a paywall. What worked for me was freeware, Ventoy and Rescuezilla. They are copied to a USB drive. I went to the BIOS to have the computer boot from the USB drive with Ventoy and Rescuezilla. Now I have clones that really behave like clones with no issues.
