My favorite cloning film in Back to the Future Part II. The two best moments from it where when Marty takes his son's hat and puts in on in the same shot, and when Jennifer (x2) faints while overlaping each other's previous positions.

Moon was by far my favorite movie featuring cloning. Really great acting helped sell the clone shots.

Idea: It's tedious but for outdoors cloning or a busy area, you can use an animated mask around the shot with the background you don't want

It's not a film, but I always liked Pheobe on Friends being cloned as her sister Ursula, I was 9-years-old and I asked my father if it was a filming trick or a similar looking woman, and after he told me it was a filming trick I tried to figure it out and quickly did :)

And by the way, Double Impact was a great clonning movie, since in the first half of the movie I was surprised to forget that there was only one actor for both characters ( Tchad & Alex). I also remember of an X Files season 1 or 2 episode, where there was a high amont of clones....

Thats great. Its also not hard to put a small greenscreen on one of the clone shots to enable overlapping. Just put a small greenscreen where you want the overlapping

One way to pass objects between actors is to use a "body mask" For example, let's say the actor on the RIGHT turns so his BACK is 2/3rds to the camera; you cannot see his RIGHT arm. When filming the LEFT side, a stand-in use his RIGHT arm in the same clothing to "pass" the object to the clone. The editing mask would then have to 'track' the edge of the actor on the right. And of course, the most obvious way to create a clone is greenscreen. Then the actors can move from left to right at will. And with VERY carful camerawork / timing, the camera can pan with the background actor, and - when the greenscreen is filmed - the camera panned at the same rate. For example, the 'real' actor can start on the left, clone on right. The real actor moves to the right - cue pan - and ends up on right looking back at clone who is now on the left.

When I made my Star Wars short film we had to use cloning as we didn't have enough actors and I can agree that cloning outside with moving grass, clouds and trees is a nightmare!

Battlestar Galactica for lots of cloning examples. They also used creative camera moves to hide/eliminate cloning (need to composite).

Hi Guys!! I tried the cloning and ended up with a little problem. The audio is going over the top when i put both the clips together to make the clones. Its like the audio is far too loud (even when it actually is not) and it crackles making it unpleasant to hear. What could be causing this problem. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated !! thanks
