I am tryingto do something similar like in step 2. However when i set my mask my ask appears as black and white over the text and not the colored video. All layers are set to visible and the mask is set to add..??

Hey Shiny films. been around your channel since about 2,000 subs and only missed a few videos here and there ive been trying to use the tips you given all of us in your videos on hitfilm 4 express. Is there a way to do this with 2 different shots? As in, mask out another camera scene under the main scene being played, and use that as a transition onto another scene? I'm having trouble using this method on 2 different shots from my camera

Dude, nice video but its funny to see a woman an object in the thumbnail.

I've watched this video a hundred times, and I keep fucking this up. I do position, and it changes the position. I go back a frame to make sure the mask has moved, great it did. So, I go to the next frame, and change the position again, but this time I go back and the whole mask is just where I placed it and stationary. I'm losing my mind here, smashing my fists into the table. I've been trying to do this stupid 30 second project for my son for the last two years and this software is infuriating.

the video at the end has a high contrast und is easy to work with. your thumbnail on the other side, is a normal picture with hair flowing in the wind and text behind it... you choose two easy situations to do this effekt and easy solutions. but the thumbnail suggests a pro-solution... i am a little bit disappointet with your missleading advertising....

I really like your videos and are helpful but the way you short of "clickbait" us is what makes me press that dislike button. Thumbnail shows a 3d text and lot of tracking points where in the video, 1 tracking point and a 2d text. I also watched your tutorial on how to put text behind objects. There, thumbnail contains a lot of colors and in video you used a different video to key out stuff which is in dark. You could had used that video as bonus to show as an easy way and simply say that you will have to mask out everything in a colorful video.

God and bad tutorial. If you are aiming to teach newbees, please consider starting from a clean screen. Import films, add text, explain every step, show the windows or panels you are opening. Show every step, without jumping past something. The Hitfilm is quite confusing for a newbee. For an example, if you already have text done, is it in composite or on the film. Of course those experienced will see it immediately, also, also please show in what panels you are working. Otherwise, good.
