Soo... For a 2mm O-Ring diameter, we use a 1.3mm ( 65% ) deep but 2.2mm ( 110% ) wide O-Ring Groove? Would those percentage numbers hold true for any O-Ring diameter size or is this a 2mm specific one and does it hold true for any O-Ring material ( Nitrile, Silicone, etc... )?

What changes would you make if you're using extruded acrylic instead? I bought a decent amount of extruded acrylic long ago when I didn't know what I was doing.
@bittech1
@bittech1 5 лет назад
Use larger tools with shallower cuts and lots of air and coolant, should be fine like that. The mirrored acrylic I use is extruded so had to get sort of used to working with it, cast is just so much better though.

Shame about the music : ( What I mean by that is, and every 'RU-vidr' tends to do it, they replace everyday sounds with ridiculous music! I'm sure many viewers would much rather hear the CNC machine working away. I for one would of preferred hearing what that spindle sounded like, also, what's the sound of Acrylic when it's being machined? Putting aside my personal little grievances .................. What a fantastic video! Loads of great information ( thanks for the recommendation of the Datron & Sorotec milling bits ), I take it you're in the UK? I'm in France and it's always difficult to find quality parts here. Off to see the rest of your videos ; ) TURK T4 Concepts
@bittech1
@bittech1 5 лет назад
Honestly I’m a bit torn between machine sounds and not having them. I watch a lot of machining channels where both are done so have no real preference. I will say though that my router sounds horrific cutting aluminium as the spindle is such a high pitch whine, which causes microphones to clip. It’s not that satisfying sound you get from the bigger machines or manual ones. I tried overlaying some before and it just made it unwatchable.
@GateWay-ky6xq

@@bittech1 Thanks for quick response mate, yeah, know what you mean ........ bit of both then!? sounds of spindle and background music? We can always alter the sound from our end. Just been watching your CNC machine being delivered, WOW that's a monster! I've got the 'WorkBee' CNC from Ooznest in the UK. Great cnc machine : ) I was just thinking ( watching your other videos ), that I was building custom made computers back in 1990 .................... 28 years ago!!!!! Can anybody point me at a site or company that does custom cnc milling re: distro plate? I checked back and forth and the only ones I can find are the big coms that do this. They charge like 300+ quid for a 148mm by 105 mm (A6 - yes, that's all I need) sized distro platelet which I designed in fusion360 and that's kinda doing my head in. Anybody knows some place that does it for more reasonable prices in the UK or anywhere else in the EU? US would be ok too, but that usually takes ages in shipping times, but I can live with that. Anybody can help me out here or point me to one? Much appreciated; thanks!

John Verhoef 1 off custom parts are usually expensive. The tooling setup costs are by far the largest expense
@johnverhoef
@johnverhoef 5 лет назад
@@bytefoundry8702 I suppose you're right and I wouldn't mind like 200 quid (that's Euros and/or Pounds, so you have to add about 25-40% to that when converting to Dollars), but 396 for 10 by 14 cm is just a bridge too far for me. Not that I can't afford it, but it just doesn't make any sense to me to spend that much on a relatively small piece of plastic. Suppose I will get me one of those prefab ones, but none of those are in the size that I want. I'd nearly say that it would be cheaper for me to get me one of those Chinese desktop cnc machinelets and make one myself, as they are not even 200 quid. I'm not sure however whether those are capable to cut out 5mm in a 10mm plate. You perhaps have any idea if they are any good? Thank you for your reply btw!

Love the channel and topics but, it is so annoying to hear British people say aluminum incorrectly. Aluminum was created in the US we named it so the way we say it is correct. If England created something useful we would say it how you name it.
@bittech1
@bittech1 5 лет назад
I think you need a history lesson rofl. Famous English chemist (and chairmain of the Royal Society) Humphrey Davy named the element, and even that only after his original "Alumium" was discredited. Not only that, it was discovered before then by a Danish physicist, and the first means of production by the French. Even further, Aluminium is the current primary spelling as dictated by IUPAC, with aluminum being an acceptable variant.
