Great video. I appreciate you showing your mistakes. Most videos don't do that. It helps to remind me to double check my work. Cause I make lots of mistakes.
Love your stuff brother. You have such a happy disposition along with great content. I have two CNC machines but nothing close to the commercial grade stuff you have so some of the content is a bit unrelatable but still fun to watch. Have you done a shop tour yet?
I do not set a depth of cut for the epoxy, I set it at a zero depth and use the tape to offset the z-zero so I don't go through the wood. The plans for this project explain in better detail how I do that. The first mistake piece, I accidentally loaded the V-Carve toolpath for the text and ran it with the flattening bit, that's why it went through the wood.
Oh, you re-used the wasted material for the other parts? That’s awesome! Way to recycle! And maybe since those are such pretty epoxy colors, you can eventually reuse that section. Maybe cut it up for some abstract art design
Thanks for this - so, when you use the compression bit, your first pass needs to be a full depth pass so that the upcut and downcut parts of the bit are properly engaged? I've been using that bit to cut in multiple passes and the finish hasn't been great. Do you also do a finishing pass with compression bits?
@@richardbaynes3862 For 3/4” stock, for example, I usually do 3 passes and a cleanup pass in the opposite direction - takes a while! One problem I always have is the cut gets PACKED with saw dust. I don’t think I’m doing it right.
Hello, what type of plywood do you use or what epoxy resin do you use? because what I have tried to do with resin and plywood does not look good. By the way great videos !!!
Thank you! I'm using baltic birch plywood here and Total Boat 2:1 epoxy. It helps to either use sanding sealer or a light brushed on layer of clear epoxy and letting it cure before pouring the colored epoxy, this prevents the epoxy from bleeding into the grain.
Ola amigo...essas ferramentas aqui no Brasil eles cobram muito caro $$ se tivesse algum site onde pudéssemos comprar com um preco$$ mais acessível ...obrigado otimo video apesar de eu nao entender inglês....parabéns
You should have an email from us with a link to download the plans. If not for some reason, please email ttsupport@toolstoday.com and we will get that taken care of.
This project uses a 30" x 24" piece of 1/2" plywood, you wouldn't have an issue cutting that on the Shapeoko Pro XXL in a single piece. The plans for it are available here - www.toolstoday.com/thankful-serving-tray-cnc-plans-downloadable-and-customizable.html
Can't seem to find the plans - looks like all the downloads have gone from the site. 'We are sorry the page you are looking for is no longer available"
Unfortunately, we are unable to sell them outside of the USA currently. We are working on a fix and hope to have them available to everyone soon. Sorry about that.
The link in the description works for USA customers only, to see and purchase the plans when overseas from USA, please go to the top left corner of the ToolsToday website and change the flag to the USA flag, then place your order. This may be updated in the near future, thank you for your patience.
